Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

went to my first NFL game! ef ya! it was preseason and it wasnt my team but it was still a blast! (redskins vs steelers)

that being said i actualy think that the redskins have a pretty good chance this year. and as far as my team goes (Vikings) well its a toss up! they have some serious talent...percy harving will be great...and maybe shaincoe(sp) will really shine now that he is out of rice's shadow..and who knows mcnabb may have at least one more great season left in him! im optimistic :) u kinda have to be to be a vikings fan haha

Go Vikings!

ya in DC. it was so fun....we sat next to a season ticket holder who has been to like every single game since the 70's. he was crazy

lol. no. skins/washington fan base is way more dedicated no matter how shitty we are. while new york is split between the 2 teams.

Pats are going to win this year. Belichick and Brady are on a mission. With the way the defense played last night, the new 4-3 look will be dominant, especially if they can revive haynesworths career. Him and Wilfork have potential to be one of the best DT duos of the past decade. They look scary good.

Jets suck, yankees suck, nick sucks. Bears are just too good to win. They should have their own league, a champions league for awesome football players . Like the Pats and the Steelers.

please define "cheating"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_National_Football_League_videotaping_controversy

thanks a lot. yeah filming from within the coaches area and not from a roofed booth 5 metres away is certainly cheating.

every team films other teams. please get your head out of your own ass.

this is the typical uninformed bullshit that people hear somewhere and talk about it over and over again without having even tried to compile information about the matter. much a like the 200 million per day thingy on obamas trip to india.

ITS FUCKING 2011, it takes one minute to inform yourself with the interwebz on quality websites like wikipedia and stuff (i know, everybody can edit it, but please, for the matter of sake, try to edit some bullshit in there on a moderately relevant page and see how long it lasts)

STOP SAYING THE SAME STUFF AS YOUR PARENTS, FRIENDS OR ANYTHING JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK ITS RIGHT (THIS GOES FOR POLITICS, ECONOMICS, RELIGION AND ANYTHING ELSE). BUILD YOUR OWN FUCKING MIND, JESUS...

and i am mad, yes

haha dude wtf are you talking about, they broke the rules, the nfl destroyed ALL of the evidence, and there were numerous other complaints about communication interference during patriot's home games. The coach was fined the league maximum, when was the last time you've seen that in the NFL? Their legacy, and no, 3 superbowls in 4 years without making the playoffs the one year does not constitute a 'dynasty', was built on cheating and began with the worst blown call in NFL playoff history. I really think this will turn into another scandal sometime in the next few years when former employees and players start talking.

hahaha your own wikipedia article already has an ex-player saying that their practices allowed them to predict 75% of the defensive plays being called

seriously, after skimming that article, which part is supposed to make me believe that they DIDN'T cheat?

hahaha my first thought was classic al davis, but i was kindof stoked. he is a freak athlete and who knows what he potentially could do if we throw him at WR/TE. maybe i'm just too optimistic.

among the evidence of walsh were video footages of GAMES? have you ever been to a game? anybody in the crowd can tape the "defensive signals".

ALL THEY DID (AT LEAST THATS WHAT THEY GOT THEIR FINE FOR) was taping signals from a place that was not correct. easily, 20 metres away, doing the same thing in a roofed thingy would have been correct.

all you do is having double standards. yes they got punished for breaking a rule, but saying that they had a competitive advantage because they taped from a location 10-20 metres away from the "correct" location has NOTHING to do with "CHEATING" from a moral standpoint.

and i just wonder why you would destroy the tapes so fast as the NFL. probably because there was nothing wrong about them except the angle. do you know why the NFL would destroy it that fast except for limiting further questions?

seriously, i am a pats fan, but only since i started to watch football, which is since the 2008 season. and i dont even care about the shit before. what i do care about is false allegations in any regard.

however, i do not say that the punishment was wrong, they crossed the line and deserved the fine, albeit it was a hefty one. BUT i dont think that their actions qualify as "CHEATING" from a moral standpoint.

and when you look at walsh and how he changes his story according to the wiki article and how he tried other accusations whenever the story seemed to go down, idk about that guy.

buuuut, just so you can feel comfortable knowing you're wrong

In a September 2006 memorandum sent out by NFL Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson, though, all teams were told that "videotaping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches' booth, in the locker room, or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game."

go play soccer.

you say yourself that it depends WHERE the stuff is filmed, thanks, k byebye

and the fact that the memo was sent to ALL teams means that ALL teams did that and it had nothign to do with a pats- specific warning.

thanks again

You're fucking stupid. it says "anywhere accessible to staff members during the game"

I feel like you don't know much about football and that English might not be your first language so I'm done.

i know enough about football, stop trying to play that card even. oh wait, i even play it myself which needs tons of commitment living on a continent without ANY cultural ties to this game.

and yes, english is not my first language. big deal. at least people in europe are out there trying to learn other languages. i for myself know 3 languages, which is certainly above the US-average. calling me out for not mastering the language even though i am trying to learn it is very weak and usually the last resort for someone who lost a discussion.

idk why you would want to offend me, but you did and this is certainly not what sports should be all about.

and btw, whats the competitive advantage in filming from a coaches booth or from the fans stands 20 metres away?

is it illegal when a pats coaching assistant looks at the signals himself while standing on the sideline and keeps a log on them? since that probably results in the same "competitive advantage" as taping them.

and for the record, the punishment was not for filming a walkthrough illegally (which is a totally different matter), since that claim was false.

still not reading, just adding that the Colts, Packers, Rams, Steelers, Eagles, Chargers, Jaguars, and Jets (twice) all had seemingly legitimate complaints about the Patriots cheating.

Like I said, the NFL fined them the league maximum and stripped their first round pick and ultimately decided that it would be necessary for defensive captains to wear the QB head set. (another tool that the Pats have been accused of tampering with haha)

No playoff wins in 4 years. No Superbowl since being caught cheating. The Barry Bonds of the NFL.

seriously, how have these teams transmitted the signals???

here is what you do: you give 3-4 guys on the sideline different signals and they transfer it to the guys on the field with only the players knowing which is the correct one on this drive/play.

mix in one dummy-gesture in the correct signal and boom, problem solved.

i am amazed how anybody could think its cheating whe nyou try to find out these signals.

even in austrian football its handled that way. other teams film each others games and guess what, the signals are on there too. boo fucking hoo.

I UNDERSTAND THAT ITS A VIOLATION OF RULES. BUT CALLING IT "CHEATING" IS HILARIOUS.

thank you for this disrespectful discussion. i am out now, i hate intolerant sports fans. i mean, i dont like the steelers, but i am not crying around how roethlisberger bought himself out of that rape trial or whatever. this is not a part of sports.
