Official n00b Guide to NS

I think I may be challenged even after 2 years of NS....
What is the rule on +K for vote swaying? Is it an absolute no go to give karma/offer karma on these threads? I just wanna know since I see threads offering karma all the time and mine got deleted...

I know I am going to get shit for asking this question, but searchbar didnt give me the answer. How do you quote an earlier comment in the thread so that people know who said it instead of just copying and pasting the quote so that the person gets no credit?
 
Lately I have not been able to post video's. I know I'm doing it correctly because I've done is several times in the past, but lately the embed code won't work. I've been trying to post a particular video from Vimeo. Any ideas? Is there a problem with me, or with the site?
 
All of a sudden it started working again for me yesterday. Guess it was just a glitch. Thanks for the reply :)
 
I've been on this site for a while now and I've heard the term "nominated" tossed around frequently but never understood what it means...

What does this mean?
 
Isn't the point of blogging on forums to speak your mind and opinions? not to follow some unofficial guide to make the original members who've "been here since 2004 and know all the jokes" happy?
 
first of all you are still allowed to speak your mind and opinions, as long as you do so in a respectful and civilized manner ....

second; this is a guide, not a rulebook, it is here to help YOU out, not punish you.

I get the embed code and put it in the place it needs to be. But when I click 'add video' it doesn't click. Anyone know why this is? It only sometimes works.
 
This happens to me too sometimes. Press the spacebar once or type something inside the reply box before you embed your video. Should fix the problem if you're still having it.
 
sometimes you have to click in the reply box before hitting add video. just use the non-fancy editor, everything is so much easier
