What was wrong with your hubs? My Raceface Vault hubs have been bomber for over 3 seasons now

fuckin crappy raceface hub shit the bed with less than 200 miles. Shop is helping me warranty it but still costs a bunch of $$ to get my wheel rebuilt and its going to be so nice this weekend goddamn.

FUCK U RACEFACE I WANNA RIDE MY BIKE.

The shop shouldn’t make you send in only the hub, forcing you to pay them to have it rebuilt, that’s silly. Fox will rebuild the wheel if you send the whole wheel to them. They did for me. But yeah raceface hubs suck

My Vault rear hub separated/cracked at the point where the through axle goes through around the bearing/pawls. I warrantied a few others for customers last season that did similar things. Just like many products, they're not all going to break but these definitely have issues.

Have y’all dealt with Surron bikes? MTB season hasn’t started yet here, but read about these “e bikes” that are just destroying trails in warmer places.

Surrons lowkey seem very fun to ride but the crowd they attract is intensely wack. Same crowd of skinny weird dudes who are stoked on chinese electric vehicles and have no clue what they're doing when interacting with actual outdoor users and instead just wreck everything and get pissed when someone calls them out

Yeah, they're really fun on tight, techy moto trails. But the crowd they attract is pretty whack for some reason, not sure why.

Not to be the crotchety old dude, but back when brands started pushing e bikes as being "the same" as mountain bikes, there was always a worry that the line between pedal assist and an e-moto would get fuzzy. I've listened to conversations where e bikers thought that "no motorized vehicle" signs didn't apply to them, because it was electric, and the Surron folks seem to have the same attitude.

E bike cats do get pretty butt tickled tho when you call their bikes with motors motorbikes lmao

Hub seized up essentially. You can still spin it manually but there is just so much drag. I'm working with the Raceface warranty team but they're being a pain in the ass and responding super slowly.

Yeah I'm in a Rocky Mountain owner facebook page, and there's at least 8-10 people who have had their Race Face hubs fail very quickly.

I've always been into bikes myself so I guess I'll share a lil, looking forward to rip some trails this weekend

this is my cherished san quentin everything's xt off worldwide cyclery idk I had a discount code, then I straight up robbed universal cycle for the fork and dropper, I think I got them for 730, fox factory 36 with an upgraded grip 2 damper so I'm on 130 travel but it feels so nice. then renthal bar stem and ergon seat and grips.... costed as much as my car

1070685.jpeg

this is the fuel I started on in 2018 still clean hasn't been used since 2020, I rebuilt the shock and took some parts off for other bikes

just for jokes I made a mullet out of the front wheel and fork from the bike above because the fork needs a rebuild

Yo i've been trying to actually get into MTB this year and hopefully try and actually make a friend and have some fun anyways. I've had a few not so great bikes and I am planning to get a decent bike soon. If you had to pick between SC and Evil, which would u go for? Pls rant and rave.

Are downduro bikes a myth? Thinking of getting my first full suspension as a DH bike which afterwards convert it to a enduro with DH fork to use as a climb bike and dh

I've never read so much stupid shit in one post before. Downduro was a joke term you gapers took seriously. "enduro" is a racing format, not a category of bikes. Sure, you should definitely put a dual crown fork on your bike because that's really the only difference with DH-specific bikes, you fucking idiot.

I am a gaper… it’s my second year so im not a “pro” in what terms to use or what not to use

Enduro is def a category of bikes, you're just salty you didn't go pro or somethin

They're called all mountain or trail bikes, you stupid fuck. Just seeing how the joke term "downduro" has caught on among you reddit retards proves things shouldn't be defined by ignorance.

There's literally astm classification between bikes that determine 'trail/all mtn' and 'enduro/freeride'

In other words enduro bikes are built to dh specs whereas trail bikes aren't. Lemme know if you find an astm 5 trail bike

But keep getting salty about your made up definitions nobody gives a shit about

Damn you’re an idiot. Look at any bike site they have several categories, usually downhill, enduro, Trail, and XC.

Don’t overcomplicate it. Downhill bikes got certain geo and weight will make it suck to climb even with a different fork.

Sounds like you’re somewhat new, just get a decent full sus or hard tail that’s around 130-160 travel all around. You can rent a dh bike at bike parks

LOL you fucking think enduro and freeride bikes are the same? THAT MUST BE A LEGIT SOURCE!

LOL no one cares about the ASTM aside from corporate lawyers, you fucking gaper.

I'd probably get an enduro or freeride bike that is already set up for climbing with a dropper post and larger range cassette if that's your end goal. DH bikes are mostly gonna have slack seat tube angles so even if you add a dropper, the climbing geo is a bit compromised

First time riding the maxxis and holy fuck that thing grips like crazy! Going up all these slick rock climbs I can lean back and put so much weight into it and it never spins out. Now I know why everyone always says tubeless is the only way.

No shit, that's how you avoid spinning out while climbing regardless of the setup, you fucking gaper. LOL fuck off to reddit.

Yeah a race format isn’t allowed to be a category of bike obviously. Just like downhill and cross country. These obviously are not race formats and bike categories. Also, look at all these gaper companies labeling their shit wrong. No credibility these days I tell ya. Scottie should be CEO of all these brands. Mother fucker is lightyears ahead of us

Get the cheapest biggest shorts at your lbs and wear whatever shirt you want. If you’re trying it’ll show and imo not trying is more drip

Did my first bike-packing trip this last weekend and it was so much fun. Definitely looking forward to more this summer. Anyone else do much bike packin?
