Great question, lots to choose from!

I'd go for the following, tried to go for a bit of variety!

Gee Atherton

Reece Wallace

Dylan Stark

im a big fan of all of 50to1s films

holy shit, forget who called it last year but were entering an age where used bikes that people bought during covid are starting to be sold at some incredible deals, have seen multiple 2020 or newer bikes full carbon with full Kashima for under 3k which is insane cause I just sold my 2016 enduro for 2300 last summer. should be a great time for people to get into some better bikes at some incredible deals

Being into skiing and biking is 100% unsustainable. How am I supposed to save up enough to buy a new bike while skiing every day for three hours?

Unless you have a trust fund from daddy it's not really possible.

You either work during the summer to save for skiing, or work during the winter to save for biking.

Or you work full time, earn enough money for both, but then have no time to do it.

Life is cruel

Is this supposed to be an own? 50to1 is cool??

Yeah, they're "cool" if you enjoy watching riders who all dress the same in 20 minute long edits where 99% of the shots are riding the same 100ft. section of woods to create trench berms and hitting nonconsequential, small bullshit "features" over and over again.

That's why we buy bike lights and go night skiing folks

JITYBeing into skiing and biking is 100% unsustainable. How am I supposed to save up enough to buy a new bike while skiing every day for three hours?

You buy used, or you save up, and/or have industry hookups. It took me 3 years, but every time I saved up $100 cash, I put it away. Then I waited for a great deal. I just bought an Ibis Mojo 4 for 35%off and with a free carbon wheel upgrade. First new bike I've purchased in over 15 years. Just got a Cane Creek DB IL as well for it to replace the DPS shock

On my stumpjumper I just got (I know I joined the darkside but my gosh this deal was insane), the only issue I have with the bike is the STUPID BOTTLE CAGE AND STORAGE COVER RATTLING LIKE A RATTLESNAKE

Anybody else have this issue? Any proper fix or replacement for it?

I always just stuck a bit of electrical tape lining the hole in the frame. Works good enough

I joined the dark side too… it’s easier to look past the S when you’re blown away with how it rides lol

I despise the brand, but tbh there is a reason that the stumpy EVO won bike of the year like 2 of the last 3 years now

Exactly haha. Never thought I’d say so but here I am and I’m not complaining

I really don’t care how good the bike rides, I’m not paying 5k for a bike with SLX and performance suspension.

Why is Specialized wack? What's like a ski brand equivalent?

The dumbest thing I've seen from them was suing a local shop because the shop was using "Roubaix" in their name. Roubaix is one of their road bike models. The dumb part is the name "Roubaix" is trademarked/copyrighted by the town in France, famous of the Paris-Roubaix bike race and not owned by Specialized. So the big S was suing a very small shop over a name they didn't own.

I think they've sued over other dumb stuff.

Yeah, blaming a company for a normal thing corporate lawyers do in order to protect their copyrights is like SOOO LAME

I’m gonna say Rossignol or equivalent, just a mega brand that has a massive lineup of offerings and is kinda bland at first glance but actually puts out a pretty solid product. Serious mass appeal but hated on for not being “core”. Specialized though has programs like Soil searching where they give back pretty heavily so can’t hate

It's not their copyright. They paid to use the name, just like the shop did.

And it looks like the owner of Specialized withdrew the lawsuit and personally went there to apologize.

Admitting to making a mistake and apologizing in person? WHAT HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!!

"To explain just a little bit, we have a lot of trademarks all around the world and we have a law firm that watches them. One of the things in the last five years, and especially the last two years has been the number of fake products with Specialized on. It's astronomical. We have a number of people who just track down these fake products."

This is why context is important, kids.

Good thing I paid $2200, with XT brakes and SRAM XO1 drivetrain haha

Specialized has by far the largest amount of resources for R&D out of any bike brand. Their aero wind tunnels are crazy!!!

Yeah they’re not super cool I guess and do like to sue other brands a lot, but heck, it’s just a really good bike you’re buying.

14506772:JITY said:
Damn that’s a great deal

where did you get it?

Pinkbike. It’s a 2020 and hardly ridden. Guy bought the Levo (e-bike version) like a month after he originally got my bike

Considering getting one for my YT izzo just to see what it’s like, but that will probably be overkill for a 130 trail bike

Dude the Izzo is a great bike. Also hard to find a better components package for the price you get.

130 is primo, had a habit 4 which is way cheaper but that travel around 130 is all you need for most trails.

heck I've been considering the cane creek DB IL Coil for my RM Element for no other reason than why not. Probably dumb on a 120mm downcountry bike but I just gotta at least try it.

What continues to fascinate me with MTB is how it is such a sport of finite detail. I made a small adjustment to my handlebar setup by rolling them back to give me more of an advantage to ride aggressively, added about 10 PSI to my fork, made the dampening slightly firmer, and adjusted the rebound speed by 1 click (increased), and the bike felt completely different. Had so much more confidence and speed on the downhill.

I'm looking to upgrade to an enduro finally. Been riding hardtails aggressively for years and this season I'm finally biting the bullet to spend 2500-3000 on a bike. My friend suggested the ibis ripmo AF, the canyon spectral 29 AL 5, or the specialized status 160.

I've been riding mtb for 8 years now but still have no clue what I'm looking at when shopping. I'm leaning towards the ripmo based on reviews

Just don’t get the canyon… both the ripmo and the status are awesome value compared to the rest of the field lately. I’ve only ridden a status but it felt solid. The MX will take some time to get used to; that combined with the super slack head tube made it almost feel like it wanted to tip on slow corners. I’m sure that was me not being used to it, but something to keep in mind. I would imagine the ibis is more “normal” feeling while still being super capable and a solid build. I would feel it would climb a little better too as the status felt really dh biased, but I guess whether that matters depends on the balance of riding you do

I’m about 70% trail riding and 30% bike park. I think it’d be worth it to get something that climbs better
