Thanks everyone, I think I'm just going to pick up some stickier flats for now, and think about clip-less on my road bike.

As far as pedals and shoes go if you're just a casual road guy there's nothing wrong with buying a MTB shoe and pedal for your road bike. That's the way I would go, and I know a lot of people who do it.

But shit, I do feel kind of broken for you guys. Your profile says Oregon, and that's really what you've got right now? Never in my life have I felt bad for west coasters until this year...

I'm interested to see how the Compounds would handle pedal strikes as I had the sound/feeling of rock strikes on the metal pedal.

ive had that bike for 9 years, i went out to ride it to class this morning, and the lock was cut and lying on the ground and the bike was just gone. its a 2006 specialized hardrock sport, so nothing really nice, but damn, fuckin inconvenience that i dont want to deal with, plus now i have nothing for getting around campus

13367992:GANDALF said:I'm just going to expand on this since I didn't really explain. Anyways, my friend sent me a link to this bike on craigslist and said dude you have to get this. We were both very skeptical that it was stolen or something was wrong with it because of the price. So we went out and looked at it anyways. Turns out my friend knows the kid, and his parents bought him the bike years ago and it has just been sitting.
He had no idea what the bike was actually worth and is moving and was just trying to get rid of it. The bike did a little bit of a tuneup and I need some new parts but I have been riding at the last three days and I have been having the most fun I've had all winter. I'll post pics soon!
