Official Jiberish August Back To School Drop Thread

for your girls clothing(if the rumors are true) line i say change up your usual lookbook format and make it something like this...

say what you want about jiberish, the direction they are going, the latest lookbook, etc., but name me another company of their size where the owner takes the time to personally address the concerns and comments of its customers like Pete periodically does...super cool in my opinion

No one is talking about profits using that logo. We would like to see it more because we LOVE it... and I thought you were all about the customer, you guys just keep doing what YOU want to do and you act like you dont care in that sense. It's wack if you ask me, but no one did so I'll leave as an opinion, just sayin'...

why don't you just stop following it if you don't like it? I decided at some point that I didn't like LRG, but I didn't bitch about it, I just stopped following them.

Ur going off of that one thread.

Before that him helping in threads was a common occurance. just nobody on Ns likes FD anymore so theres nobody to help. David Lesh is actually a real legit guy.

I am a customer, and I don't want the J-crown plastered on everything, I want them to come up with original designs and not just cycle the same one.

nobody did ask you if you thought it was wack or not...anyways, why wouldn't they make stuff that they like and why wouldn't they do what they want to do? it is their company isn't it?

nyles, stop making yourself sound dumb because if anybody cares about the customer its definitely jiberish

I read Pete's response as coming from a man who knows and loves his brand, respects its image and truly enjoys fulfilling his vision of what it could be.

The look book was perfect.

I just picked up 3 work shirts, great detail and fit. I've got work shirts from The Hundreds and other places as well, I like these better. If you haven't tried them on, they for sure are made to fit proper, not a generic fit that you get in shirts from other brands. For sure my new go-to work shirts.

He brings up a very valid point though, Anyone that has been into jiberish for a few years feels the exact same way i guarantee. When looking through the new winter line, the most common comment I heard was "that would look better with a j-crown". Why would a brand not do what the customer thinks looks best? They are the ones that will be dropping the money on the product and the ones wearing it around. Without the very loyal customers that jiberish has, they would be nothing, so why not listen to them more? Not many brands have this kind of close connection with the people who buy their goods, it just seems like a waste to not utilize this power more.

I know there are pieces that I would buy in a heart beat if they had the jcrown instead of the other logos, some might think that is stupid, but it makes the product feel more like jiberish, which makes dropping the $80+ on what ever it might be more do-able for some of us.

no I am paying $80 for a sweatshirt that I want to look as good as it can, which some times means using one logo over the other

Alright, I'm still online and available so I'm gonna do a mini Q&A

here if a few of you have specific questions. I know we are pretty

private about stuff but you guys are the core of our market and many of

you have been there from the beginning. Let's do this...

Nyles, we are definitely thankful that you like that logo. We do as

well. Plus I know you have been a supporter of ours and if I am not

mistaken you have been to LoHi a number of times, right? Thanks for

that.

But I think to some extent it is our right to do what we want to do with

the logo though, right? I mean after all we designed it and we also

are the

ones who put all of our time, efforts, resources and emotions into it.

If that sounds selfish I apologize. But it is the truth. Prior to

Jiberish I had never been in this position before.....one that leaves

you so exposed and vulnerable to such harsh criticism. And it was

really tough the first few years. But we learned to embrace it.

It may be one of the reasons we are so protective of the logo. It

represents

all of our efforts and our struggles in trying to create this brand.

So I understand that you would like us to brand more things with it, but

I also hope you can see from our standpoint why we may not want to.

We have never made clothing to try to appeal to a certain

consumer.....we made what we like from day 1, period. If we were to

pander to everyone out there then in my book that is the truest

definition of a "sell-out". It's like when musicians make a watered down

album for a studio so the studio can cash in on a larger market. We

have always made what we like. And it just so happened that our taste

was also similar to others out there. That is what we love so

much....that our vision is in line with the people across the globe who

have backed us. It is how we started with 12 sweatshirts and 12

t-shirts and grew the company to 2 Flagship stores and 100 retailers in

16 countries with not a single sales rep.

Sorry you see that as selfish Nyles. I see it is as being true to yourself. If nothing else we definitely have always had integrity in what we did and put the brand first. There are a ton of comapnies out there who make stuff for other people because they are focused on trying to appease as many people as possible. None of which are clothing companies any of us at Jiberish respect or support.

I hope that does not come across as harsh. It is not the intention. Tone is difficult to detect online.

It is coming out this Winter. it is called Choppin Wood.

But in terms of what we have made over the years up until this point I would say that my personal favorite piece we ever made was the Creeper back in 08' (I think).

I also have another question:

I assume you guys do all your designs in house at this point, what ever happened to the AMAZING artists that you use to contract to do the designs? Not trying to be rude here, but their work was better then anything else you have put out post 08/09, and I know I am not the only one that feels that way.

Also, for the love of the customer, PLEASEEEEEEEEE make 1 more piece with the godly fabric from the 06/07-07/08 lines(the kind on the mvp, green level 1, etc)

Are you guys going to start selling more stuff through canadian online retailers like dstructure? i love supporting you guys and d had some of your summer stuff so i ordered through them as it is free shipping to canada. just curious because i find it hard to justify paying 30 dollars shipping through your site and AM

Another question, why dont you guys put out stickers for the public to buy? I know tons of people want to support your company and would love to get stickers. Some kids already make stickers they are so desperate, so why dont you make a little profit off them?

from their FAQ:

"We love that you guys want to rep our company and we certainly appreciate the enthusiasm for the brand. But, we do not give our stickers away to the general public or sell them. They go to our family of artists, athletes, designers, and friends of Jiberish. If we decide that we would like you to have our die-cut stickers we will offer them to you. In the meantime please understand that we will not respond to an email request for stickers."

while you say, "that would look better with a j-crown", how many other times have you heard everyone complain about stuff when there is a j-crown on it like, or someone say, "they just put the j-crown on their and they think they can charge out the ass for it, blah blah blah". So while i agree with you that they should use the j-crown more, i understand why they dont because of the exclusivity of the few products that they do put their j-crown on and how quickly those sell out and not to mention they are usually first to sell out on every single line they drop.

While yes, the customer is the one who is going to be dropping the money on the item, you have to remember that what the company produces also represents them so if they dont like it why would they put it into production? they not only want you the customer to like it, but they too also have to like it because you aren't the only one who is going to be wearing it, they wear their products as well. Yes, I agree that without the loyal customers Jiberish wouldn't be as large as it is today, but would the customers be as loyal if they did the exact same thing every time they had a new drop? or do you think that the customers would be more loyal if they decided to change it up and do different things? I know that I get bored very quickly of the same things so how they change it up and use different logos attracts me and keeps me interested and actually makes me more of a loyal customer because of their diversity and how not one piece is ever the same.

i've always wondered why everyone complains about the $80 price tag on the jiberish, have you ever walked into PacSun? I'm pretty sure the hoodies price in there is between $59.99 and $64.99 so if you honestly complain about the $80 for a hoodie that actually fits in a decent matter and the quality is worlds better than that of the ones in PacSun, then there is something wrong with you and everyone else because $15 more for a hoodie that will last you at least twice the time of the one at PacSun has just always seemed stupid to me...thats just my opinion though...

We started with 2 artists and they are still just as involved today as they were then. We have never dropped one or lost any. We just added a few new ones over the last 4 years and the guys who are part of the Fam have gotten better and better over the years. In our opinion (and it may be different than yours which is totally fine) they are executing at the highest level they ever have.

Our taste has evolved as have our designers tastes. There is more thought and creativity behind every one of our pieces now than ever before and honestly, it isn't even close. If you ever meet one of them ask them about the design briefs and the creative process. It is kinda nuts.

For sure. We are just pretty careful about who we let carry the brand and we are in the process of evaluating a number of Canadian retailers who reached out to us.

There is a Black one, a Blue one, and a camo one. We are stoked on them for sure. I am not sure we can comment on release dates because that shipment with the windbreakers is coming together. I hope very soon.

Thx

It has been discussed for a few years now. That is the most I can say about that though right now. Sorry if that does not answer your question.

I don't want to join in in bombarding you with questions but if you do have some free time, when are those J Crown belts being released online or are they an in-store exclusive? And the denim? I need some new stuff for school and I'm holding out because they look so sick.

Pete, I'm curious - all the shirts I own seem to twist after washing... Now most of them aren't too bad, and I can usually stretch it back out to a decent shape before I hang dry, but I do have a tee that has twisted beyond wearable, and it's quite the pain to have to reshape a tee every time I wash it... I just wanted to know if I was washing my tees wrong, or if that's an issue on your end. I wash all my shirts in cold water, delicate cycle, hang dry.

Words can not express the joy that this one sentence has given me.

please except my internet high five

internet_high_five-2496.jpg

I thought I was all alone. Not only that, but mine get these weird wrinkles on the bottom and end of sleeves. Every one twists the same way.

The belts will be online soon. We were just testing them out in the stores before offering them to the rest of the market. Hit me up in a private message and I will get you sorted.

On the denim, we pushed it back to Spring most likely. We are working with one of the most respected and famous denim producers in the world on our new denim and things need to be perfect before we offer them. There will be standard skate style denim with a small amount of spandex woven in (like our current denim) and then a series of extremely high end raw selvedge denim that is at a higher price point. If you are into denim or know the top producers in the game then you will definitely know the people making our new range.

Thx

We changed manufacturing because of that. We could have bought blank tees like most companies but we wanted to create our own cut-and-sew tees from our own patterns and unfortunately there is sometimes an issue with the seams when the fabric is stretched during the sewing process.

It was a bummer for us because we finally got tees that fit perfectly but we had wrinkles in the seams. It is being corrected though. Apologies.

Holy shit. If you released more stuff in the future with the old mvp/green level 1 or sleepr fabric, I'd actually buy more than one. That fabric feels awesome and hangs awesome.
