Official GTA IV Thread

Personally I absolutely hated San Andreas. There was no point to it at all. It was too far fetched and just unbelieveably boring in some points. I'm defintitely picking up IV this weekend
 
i dunno, i use to be reallly into vice city and played it for like 3 years straight... but now i dunno if i would actually play this one alot because of lacrosse and school and all this shit going on, should i really drop 60 flow on this?
 
you will need a lot of cash to work that one out. they dont give you shit for ps2 anymore or the games. i traded in a ps2 with like 30 games and they gave me 70 buck
 
Hahahaha no chance man. They won't give you shit for your old stuff. I recently traded in an xbox, 3 contollers (1 duke, 1 small, and 1 air conditioner), like 4 or 5 games, and an extension cord for a controller. All i got was like 20 or so dollars. I used whatever store credit they gave me to buy CoD4 and I still had to shell out 30+ dollarss
 
Yeah, 16 player online mode apparently. Fuuuuuuck, this is really tempting me to buy a 360 just for this game...
 
i bought mine during study hall today just in case they sold out before i got out of school. i bought it at circuit city, so they gave me a $10 gift card. the game is sick. i just started playing it. i had a huge head on collision with a cement block and the car didn't blow up, the engine just stopped running well and the car went really slow
 
its fun but the driving sucks my dick. the cars handle like crap, you cant turn and brake at the same time, you slide all over the place, and they have like a 500ft turning radius. other than that its awesome, i like how you can fly out of the windshield.
 
The rag doll physics are sick. Punching people off buildings rules. The car handling sucks, but I drove a corvette type car on multilayer and it handled beautifully. I think it is just the starter cars. The detail of the levels are remarkable. I live in NYC and can notice so many similar things, I love it, its like driving around my house. STEINWAY BEER GARDEN = BOHEMIAN BEER GARDEN, look it up folks :). I can shoot people in front of my favorite bar. Awesome.
 
so i go to buy the game right and the guy at walmart id's me and was convinced I have a fake id saying i'm 18 years old.

The game is just ridiculous... it got a rating of 10 on like all the popular game sites. The driving is different and takes some getting used to, but overall it's way better and realistic. The thing about this game is that it's so detailed and it has so many things to do, some things you won't even believe. Rockstar Games really stepped it up with GTA IV.
 
go sell some shitty weed and boost up the price and say its dank shit (throw some coke in there too). Bam $60 no problemo!

On a side note: I think this game looks hella sick, and with the Mult-player feature it's something i've wanted available since VIce City.

 
the new shooting/fighting style is a lot better.

and i love how the other people act now too, much more realistic. Ha, earlier some guy got stuck on the car handle as i was driving off, so i dragged him for a minutes until i finally managed to just barely hit a car going the opposite way and knock him right off.

the wanted system is good too, not like before where if you had 2 stars, the cops would throw themselves at you forever, you can actually escape it now.
 
you know that multiplayer is only online right? its not split screen.

but everything is so much more realistic, especially fires and the way the cars explode. different cars will take longer before they blow up. i was in a hummer h2 and i was just plowing through so many cars and it took like 5 minutes of nostop destruction before the car stopped running. it didn't even explode, the engine just shut off the he couldn't restart it. and like someone said earlier, the heat system is alot more realistic. i managed to loose all 6 stars after i accidentally entered an unlocked zone.
 
haha yea. can you pass out? or do you just get really wobbely when you drink a bunch?

my friend told me its major funny driving the motorcycles after you get him wasted.
 
yeah but its not realistic, if you try to brake and turn at the same time, you just slide, almost every car except for the very fastest handles like a boat and slides all over the place. its a little more realistic than the other gta's but still not very realistic at all. once you get the ferrari, porsche etc... look alikes then its realistic, except the braking and turning thing.

and online is insane, if you get like 6 people in one area with the rocket launchers and grenades, and a high wanted level so there are helicopters and tons of police cars, its like a battle zone, shit is blowing up constantly and all over the place, multiple helicopters will be falling out of the sky in pieces while like 5 cop cars are blowing up at once and debree is flying everywhere. its fun to get a fast car and drive straight into the pile of cop cars and cops being blown up and just plow through it. and if you get a ton of people playing at once you can actually use the whole city and be fighing against eachother in helicopters and shit, and being able to hide in like one out of every 10 buildings you see makes it so much cooler. i just wish you could have like 100 people playing at once throughout the whole city.
the races are fun as hell too, if you just get out of your car and get a rocket launcher and wait for the other people to come by you can blow the hell out of them, do drive by's in the middle of the race, throw grenades and stuff out of your car at other cars while your racing them. its insane.

DIF CITIES BUT I'VE BEEN IN TWO BARS, ONE THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE PLACE ROCCO SHOT UP, EVEN THE BARTENDER LOOKS ALIKE, AND THE OTHER BAR I WENT IN HAD THE TERRETS GUY AS A BARTENDER, THE MAIN CHARACTERS VICE ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE AN ANGRY BROTHER AT THE END WHEN THEY ARE IN THE COURTHOUSE MAKING THEIR FINAL SPEACH

That is really really funny, yet at the same time so sad that americas youth like to do bad things cause there fun

and i too failed to get anything done yesterday, as my roommate bought

the game, and had to work all afternoon and evening. so i sat down for

an epic sesh.
 
i just played it, and its the best game i've ever played. it is unbelievably detailed in every way, has the best shooting mode, crazy weapons, insane physics, rediculous graphics, and its even got funny cutscenes. i might buy a console just for this.
 
drinking is fun in it, one of my friends actually drank his character to death. He went outside to try to drive for fun, and just collapsed and died.

i'd forgotten how crazy gta games were, with you constantly switching sides and shit doing jobs for everyone. I love the Jamaican guy even though i can't understand him...ever
 
Shit. I'm gettin mi madre a mothers day gift. Then next comes longboard. Fuck this game is soooo tempting to blow the other two off.
 
haha okay i bought it. pretty fun game kinda hard to get use to the driving but still a kick ass game. great plot so far, i have only played for like 1 hour or so though.
 
wow this game is soooo redonkulous. im so glad i have a 360. and i actually enjoying driving, drifting is fun. and the details are sooo crazy. pretty much what everyone else said

im about to grab this game, can't wait to sit home tomorrow night and play it. no work till 4 the next day. sounds like i will also sit down for an epic sesh
