Official Eric Pollard is NOT washed up thread

who teh fuck said he's washed up??????

im really getting tired of everyone thinking that after you hit 25 your skiing career is over

he said he was on ns radio like 10 minutes ago. he thinks hes close to being "x"ed out of the industry. crazy bastard.

seriously. eric is the most amazing, artistic skier ever. ive been sooo amazed listening to him. id love to sit down and talk with him about life.

never, on earth with pollard be washed up. the impact hes had on the sport has solidified him a role that will never be able to be removed.

Even if the "industry x's him out," I'm sure many smaller companies would be stroking their boners at the idea of having him with them, designing skis and whatnot. Hopefully he's gotten enough money to not need much of an income now.

please dont quit skiing man, best skier hands down. I want to be like you, i have your skis and love them.

Mike Douglas is washed up.

Eric Pollard is a skier, not an Xgames announcer. He continually creatively forces skiing to collectively go "Damn, I didn't know that was possible." No where near washed up.

I disagree. X-Games gigs notwithstanding, he's amazing at big mountain freeriding and seems to be stepping it up each season. I'm not saying he has the current impact of Pollard, but I don't think it's fair to call him washed up.

Douglas can freeride, but his failure to differentiate between rails and boxes, his comments about the "level" of Stephan Thomas' riding, and the fact that he never brought any attention to the lack of grabs or how Andreas Hatviet got robbed in pipe make him washed up in my opinion.

No doubt, he's a shitty commentator. In his defense, all of the X-Games media acted like crack-smoking monkeys.

pollard is just getting stared with the new generation of skiing. the only reason some people think he is washed up is because he doesnt do comps and isnt in every fuckin ski magazine. he just shreds for fun.

I saw him pep and andy up at mt hood one weekend, they ate lunch right next to me. But I didnt know what to say to them so I just left them alone. Saw them take a couple runs too, pep and eric ski backwards so fast and comfortable.

his commentary at the X-games wasn't supposed to be for you, or me, or people that know anything about skiing. I mean, I kind of doubt you need someone to differentiate a rail from a box for you, but someone who doesn't know the difference probly doesn't give a shit either. The X-Games is about bringing fringe sports to the masses, and to just have someone pointing out that that spinny flippy thing was a little harder than that spinny flippy thing. I don't think he did that good of a job, but he probly made a huge amount of money for it, and at least they had someone who does actually know their shit talking about it. It would've been a lot worse to put Sal Masekala and that 50 year old chick that sits inside trying to explain candides run to people.

jea, but I wish that he'd give us a little bit to work with, you know? I mean, we're kind of the reason he's got the gig he's got, right? He should at least give a little credit to the kids watching X pipe or slope. Either way though, he IS better than Sal or anyone else that could be commenting....

Yeah seriously Pollard is so not washed up... I'm going to send him the link to this thread. Little positive re-inforcement never hurt anyone!

honestly, pollard you are my idol. everytime i try to ski powder or something of that sort, i just remember your style and it seems like i ski so much better.

Dude, you're freakin' 24! no where near being washed up... or ever will be, in my opinion. You're one of the few people I can watch ski and get totally amped off of. You're an asset to this industry!

I can understand modesty, but man...such a shocking remark from arguably the best skier alive. It'd be like THall winning the X-Games and suddenly claiming he's washed up.

well. i see where he might be saying that.. with compans kicking off old guns for young'ns ,, but no way is he done with his skiing.

The thing I love about Pollard is no matter what, he'd be doing something different all the time and it seemed he didn't really care what people thought of it. Skiing needs a guy like Pollard who isn't out there doing what everybody else id throwing to get coverage and coin, 450/810 to rail, switch 5s or 9s off any back country hit, so on so on. His part in push was only part I really got into, and it's one of my favorite segments of that season and the last couple.

have i missed something? i haven't heard anything sayin he's washed up. he's my favorite skier right now and has been for years. i love how anywhere he goes, he throws the most style into whatever he does. plus rippin through trees switch is plain sick
