OFFICIAL Election Thread

An intelligent and somewhat thought out response like this would have been much better than just acting like an ignorant fuck and telling him to die. How is this site supposed to get better and have less flame wars if the older members can't even act somewhat mature on it?

Sorry, i didnt mean to come off that way. But that issue just makes me furious and i tend to overreact.

Why do you feel so entitled to... I don't know what it is. I mean, do you think that your constant activity in political threads on here gives some sort of credence to your every word and opinion?

Drew and I were debating things long before you showed up on the scene, and I hardly agree with him on most things moral and religious. We happen, though, to agree politically this time around, and so I don't feel a need to nit-pick his posts like I do yours.

You annoy me. The structure of your posts alone bothers me, the constant sense of due respect, and this self assessed sense of absolute political guru of NS is irritating.

If I had to say anything to counter Drew, "Yeah, SUCK IT LONG AND SUCK IT HARD" (SNL jeopardy?)

set the record straight then.

ill go one on one in ANY issue, i dont fall on the republican side nearly as much as you perceive me to.

drew and i have a civil respect / relationship.

...I really don't think its an issue thats worthy of the Federal level. Let the states decide whether it should be allowed or not.

in january there will be a democrat in the white house backed by a democratically controlled congress. but the democrat in the white house only received 52% of the popular vote, so there's still 1 or 2 or 46% of america that voted republican. however obama's popularity will be immensely higher than bush's 5% approval rating.

my hope is that obama's presidency really brings change to america that it needs;

obama goes on a world tour and restores our face to the world. then

comes back and after a year or so nancy pelosi attempts to turn obama

into a way left/socialist manchurian candidate. this results in a huge

fallout in the party in power. bush has already basically succeeded in

breaking up the republican party, and now its obama's turn.

the two party system must come to an end somehow, and this is the chance.

thus we would be left with one major party and four fringe parties;

- the main-centrist party made of moderate republicans and moderate democrats

- the socialist/democrat party

- the libertarian party

- the green/ralph nader party

- the ultra conservative ("replace the constitution with the new testament") bible-belt party

get some.

exceot for the fact that to be a true comparison/alegory...

the rich dude's paying the most money would get an unlimited tab, unlimited access to all types of booze and beer from around the world....

...the middle class guys would get to have a couple light beers...

....and the poor guys who paid nithing would get a choice between A) drinking the rich guy's almost-empty piss-warm beers with cigarette butts floating in them, or B) actually drinking bottles of the rich guy's piss

I'm not gonna deny this. We still have major issues with racism and the general denial of that by Republicans is one of the many reasons I feel so alienated from the party that's supposed to represent ideals I believe in (such as limited government). Drug legislation, in particular, is a HUGE problem that both institutionalizes and perpetuates racism. That said, however, I think our country has come a long way in this regard, and you would be very hard-pressed to find a place with so much diversity where so much progress has been made.

I'll also put this out there: I would probably be defined by most as VERY conservative. And I'm pleased with the outcome of this election.

my first question is about your first point: Are we not including the large recession during the later part of 2001 and 2002?

Second question: How are we measuring consumer confidence?

Third question: Where during the summer and early fall of 2007 was gasoline sold at $2.19 a gallon, and for how long. I don't remember gas being around $2.19 a gallon since winter 2005/2006.

Fourth question: Gas is now $2.50-$2.60 where I live, in a state with increasingly high gas taxes, where are you living in the US that is still paying over $4 a gallon?

And my final statement:

The idea that all the recent economic woes that have occurred during the last few moths, are caused entirely by a congress that has been in place for less then 3 years, is ridiculous. First off we know that many of the causes go back much further then 2006. Secondly as any economist knows the free market is subject to highs and lows. yes we are in a drastic low right now, but it is actuality due to the deregulation of the lending market. A very conservative and capitalistic policy. The idea that the current financial crises was caused by the democratic congress is ridiculous.

Oh and I usually find my self right of center on the economic side of things. I did however vote for Obama because Macain is a financial idiot.

Thank you AMERICA for voting Barack Obama!!

The whole world is proud of you and happy that bush's reign of terror is over. Now I hope you americans and the people allover the world take the chance for fundamental changes. We have serious problems in the world that we can only solve when everybody fights for the same!!!

Greetings from switzerland and enjoy the winter

i guess. i usually dont have 100 dollar bills on me just 20's maybe they will go for those haha.

anyways I am done with the internet battles it really is pointless and a waste of time. you are obviously a very smart guy and seem like someone i would get along with off the topic of politics. hate if you want I already made a decent post congratulating Obama. If he can pull off what he is talking about then we might have an awesome president on our hands.

im expecting another asshole comment from you but whatever haha maybe someday we can tell each other a story about slaying girls and smoke a blunt instead of argue about politics.

Exactly. That's why all these bullshit Constitutional "marriage amendments" are NOT conservative and why I don't like being associated with the pseudo-conservatives pushing for them.

nah i got the sarcasm in the last few posts. i was just referring to the posts before that. i have no real beef with anyone on the internet its just a fun place to talk shit and laugh about, im sure you know where im coming from on this. talking shit over the internet really has no meaning in my eyes.

well if i remember correctly you are in colorado maybe.. im going to be out there a good bit this year if i see you around we will have to take some runs and burn somethin down.

the rapper who wrote that line studied criminal justice in college and had a job as a corrections officer. understandably, the real freeway ricky ross is pissed at said rapper. so whats the point of your post?

rick ross also used to drive bricks of cocaine out to notorious big's yacht via speed boat. he talked about it in an interview once.

jay-z is better thoug, white on white G5 ya im the fuckin boss.

haha good point. i believe rick ross for some reason though lol. i dont know about believing jay-z though i doubt he really owns a G5. He is worth 250 million or so but there are only about 1,000 private owners of private jets in america.

he probably charters one occasionally, but owns. dont those cost like 20 mil. and upkeep on them is insane

But of course, give more power to the high priests in black robes.

Here's why prop 8 passed.

"Exit polls for The Associated Press found that Proposition 8 received critical support from black voters who flocked to the polls to support Barack Obama for president. Blacks voted strongly in favor of the ban, while whites narrowly opposed it and Latinos and Asians were split."

All I can say is that up here that shit would get struck down so quickly that no one would have ever bothered to waste money putting it on the ballot it in the first place.

Step 1: 1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such

reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in

a free and democratic society.

Step 2: 15. (1) Every individual is equal before and under the law

and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law

without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based

on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or

mental or physical disability.

Step 3: 52.

(1) The Constitution

of Canada is the supreme law of Canada, and any law that is

inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution is, to the

extent of the inconsistency, of no force or effect.

Check and mate... of course, that's the benefit of a constitutional framework written in 1982 rather than 200 plus years ago: It actually makes sense. Time for an update down there, guys.

The election is over. We have a new President elect. Now we need to move on.

All sides are talking about 'reaching out' and healing the country, but none of this is going to happen if liberals gloat and conservatives allow their resentments to harden. The real differences between us arent that different, and we need to be focusing on rebuilding our strong economy and making a new energy plan. We need to be looking at the issues that will bring this country together, not the nitpicky nuances that the media loves to bring to the forefront and divide our nation.

Looks like Rahm Emanuel will be Obama's chief of staff. That's a solid choice.

outlaw the media!

but seriously, can you imagine how much more positive life would be in america if the nightly news showcased random acts of kindness instead of "my neighbor kicked my cat" and other negative bullshit?
