Official Education of Style: Thoughs, Expectations, and Best Trick Thread

Same thing happened to me when downloading the desktop version, downloaded the iphone version and it worked on comp no problem.

I'm baaaaack. Alright, review time.

SKIING

The skiing in this movie blew my mind. I don't think that there was a single shot were I didn't go, "holy fuck that was awesome". The creativity that these three riders incorporated into their segments was stunning. The aerial style, burly urban,

and unique features were, in my mind, the winning factors in this movie. If you want to see steezed out landings, ultra-tweaked out grabs, and all around super stylish skiing, Inspired will cater to your needs.

FILMING/EDITING

The filming in The Education of Style definitely stood out to me. The angles had me twisting my head, and the placements were very well thought out. It was a tiny bit jerky at some times, but that my have simply been purposeful.

The editing, on the other hand, in my mind, was overdone. Especially in B-Dog's segment, all of the random colors and graphics were hard on my eyes. I get how they were trying to be unique and I respect that, but they may have just crossed the line a little bit. I feel like I couldn't focus on the skiing when I was being distracted by orange/blue sparkles all over the screen. The rest of the movie was alright in the editing category.

SOUNDTRACK

Went PERFECTLY along with the skiing. I really dig how they chose old school hip/hop and went with the OG NAS, and the reggae blended nicely with the skiing.

Overall, I would give this movie a 9/10 just because the editing was not the most appealing to me. This is the most unique ski film I've ever watched, and I believe that it WILL be one of those movies that people talk about for a loooong time.

Henrik's dubs were jaw dropping crazy. seriously. no one else in the world does those kinds of axis with those kinds of grabs with that kind of style.

definitely get it. 10 bucks is a steal for such a sick movie. like people have been saying, it's just the 3 of them being on top of their game. it's super sick to see tanner doing tricks again at a high level, casabon is super dope, and henrik is, no doubt about it, the next level of skiing. new tricks, sick axises and grabs, all with great unique style. he does nose butter dub 10 off the last jump in the teaser, a huge dub cork 7, and a million other bangers

i can't imagine why anyone who likes watching park+ skiing wouldnt buy a movie with just casabon, tanner, and henrik. i have nothing but respect for all skiers but this movie's so refreshing when a lot of movies get sort of forgettable and repetitive towards the middle

yes yes and yes. totally sums it up.

but just to emphasize it a little more, i was completely shocked at how ridiculous harlut's seg was. holy shit. i don't know how anyone could beat that for seg of the year. on a completely different level

honestly best movie i've ever seen. dollo slayed, every damn shot in the whole movie was a banger. I agree that phil's part was over-edited but well worth the 10 bucks. every shot was like the best trick ive ever seen in my life it was some inception shit

Bought this shit the minute it came out.Still havent watched it.

Once I download, I try to play it, and it just starts downloading again...help

Such a sick flick for $10.

Henrik's segment was definitely my favorite. Cool to see how he can sly BC booters, urban of course, PIPE!, and did some decent drops too. He is an insane skier. And that dub blunt flip was so perfect.

Tanner has a better segment then I was expecting. I thought it might just be him doing pillow lines the whole time but he did some legit stuff on rails, jumps, wallrides etc which was sick to see.

B-dog has super sick skiing. I hate to say it but editing took the focus off the skiing for me as well. It was painful to watch at places and I am kinda bummed because I think that will be why I won't re watch his part anywhere near as much as Henriks. Just because the editing kinda causes a headache. Although I have only seen it on iphone version, so may look a lot better in the full quality version.

So yeah, sick flick. All of the parts had banging skiing. And apart from editing was all good apart from B dogs segment. And music was sick! I especially loved the song in Henrik's section.

that was wild. Didn't take itself too seriously, and just put out some incredible skiing to watch. Solid for sure.

haven't seen it yet, but just wanted to throw my two cents in and say this thread has more well thought out comments than I've ever seen on Newschoolers. proud of you mafuckas

I really enjoyed the movie.

I agree with the above about Casabon's segment it was over edited and possibly it was to the detriment of his skiing, but overall I think that it was a creative idea that flows with his style and it managed to keep my attention not only because of B-Dog being ridiculous with a kang flip and that butter in the pipe, but I just wanted to see where the hell they were going with the theme.

T-Hall is a personal hero of mine so I was so stoked to see him hitting some urban and slaying it in the BC. If I had one gripe it would be that there were too many 'lifestyle' shots. I dig he loves Jamaica and has lots of friends there and wants them all to be a part of something that matters to him, buuut a few less dancing ladies a few more gnarly shots wouldn't have been the worse thing in the world. That being said it's good to see that he looks like he's having an incredible time and some of the wallrides and jibs were nuts.

Harlaut just fucking killed it. If there was any doubt about him being one of the best skiers in the world this segment should silence that. From comps, to urban, to park, to BC he had several banging tricks and really put everything out there and who doesn't like a butter dub? That is just crazy.

All said and done I think this was a complete success and look forward to seeing what else b&e and T-Hall bring out in the future.

hmmmmmm i'm going to be in the hospital for the next few days, but they haven't told me when i'm supposed to get there today, so i wonder if i can finish downloading this before i have to leave...

Watched it on the iphone at the airport. Some how the ipod version downloaded first but whatever.

Yeah phils segment was heavily edited but it also had the heaviest theme out of the three. The trippy wood shots with iberg, and the heavy image cuts were a bit overboard but i didnt mind. Maybe i would feel differently when i see it on a bigger screen. I enjoy a clean cut seg but also when people think outside the box.

So sick to see t-hall doing some urban again. I dug how he took his expertise from the pipe to the homemade trannies outside of the resort. Jah.

Stoked to see downey and perron in the friends section, along with countless other bangers.

Henrik was the banger segment to close it out and he did his job. Inspirational speech had me grinning, his persona just cracks me up but not in a bad way. His dubs in the bc were fire.

Everyone hit it on the head already, sick movie/shots but they butchered Phil's part which I thought could have been even better than it was without the glaring color effects.

FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH ITUNES REDOWNLOADING IT:

To solve this, I just found the file after it downloaded in Finder under Podcasts (not downloads>Podcasts) and opened it through there. That seemed to make Itunes happy and recognize that it was downloaded.

Hope that works for everyone having trouble.

Oh yea and Henrik's segment AWESOME! Pillow lines for Tanner blew my mind and I did actually enjoy the whole weirdness of Phil's segment, definitely a little much, but I could appreciate what they were trying to convey with theeee maddddneesssssss!

I just rewatched this am, and man....I feel like I'll be catching the insanity of certain shots after multiple viewings.

One thing that really stood out on the 2nd watch for me was the fresh take on half-pipe skiing. There weren't a ton of pipe shots, but those that made the flick were almost to the one unique or out and out one of a kind. Phil with those....I don't even know what. Butter redirect handdrags? Who the fuck knows. And, Henrik with the super pressed out, weird axis butter tens...just madness. I'm someone who, outside of Duncan, Heule, Noah, and a few others, couldn't really dig pipe skiing. Well, some of the shots in this had me reconsidering what was possible, and moving forward I hope to see a lot more pipe skiing that looks like that.

Just want to reiterate that this movie is a fucking steal @ $10, and despite whatever valid criticisms of the editing or some of the extraneous stuff outside of the skiing, it's worth every minute and penny.

Great work inspired! Everyone killed it with the skiing. Yes, Phil casabon's part was very edited, but the skiing was insane, and it was super creative. E-dollo killed it and I actually think T-hall's part might be my favorite of the movie.

The skiing is unreal, but completely ruined by the retarded effects. Obviously they were going for a trippy theme, but that theme was well overdone. Long story short, it was actually difficult to watch

Oh and artificial gain is retarded. Worst special effect by far

Dammmmm, I have been trying to download this on I-tunes for like 24 hours, still not working. Want to watch this shit so badd!!!!

Must download. If the editing is like their normal editing and the skiing is even crazier my eyes must witness it.

after watching it a 2nd and 3rd time i have to say it really is in my top 3 ski movies, the skiing, music, and vibe is just so awesome. i enjoyed bdogs segment MUCH more after watching it again. because i was ready for the effects and editing i was really able to appreciate the skiing on a whole new level. i actually paused the movie after his segment and re-watched it because of how sweet i thought it was, idk maybe i was just really high. either way everyone should buy this movie because it kicks fucking ass

I was completely enthralled with this movie. Completely. I expected to be blown away, and I was, I loved every part of it. Iberg is a mad genius, McLeod is underrated, Phil and Henrik continue to redefine style, and mostly... so impressed with the level of skiing from Mr. Tanner Hall. Best trick? Pretty sure I saw a nose-butter 9 in a half pipe. Congrats to the Inspired family for this, best $10 I've spent!

Dope.

Skiing was incredible, by everyone. Tanner showed once again that he is one of the best allround skiers in the world. There are few out there who can slay pillowlines like him.

Filming was great, editing was a little over the top, but cool.

Music was awesome. Best song was N.Y. State Of Mind. Loved how the songs sort of went back and referenced the intro, and how they all had songs from one artist each. And the way they played on the music as being the styles inspiration was amazing, it was kind of the whole point though, I guess.

Phil's part was a bit over edited but other than that his part and everyone else's was dope. Loved the dub cork 7 and Bdog's kang. (Tanners Kang was perfect too!)

holy shit, EVERYTHING i thought about while watching the movie, down to the last detail, you described perfectly.

-awesome movie

-phil's part had too many odd lighting effects that actually took away from some of the skiing

-henrik's part was a complete banger

i'm pretty happy with the movie overall

This movie is so sick!! everyone absolutely stacked, so many insane shots and creative features that catered to phil, henrik, and tanners unique approaches to riding. kind of reminded me of wicked for some reason. thought the editing was bold and fun to watch. I couldnt get it to work at first too, but it was because i kept trying to play it before it was fully loaded, and then it would just start reloading
