Official Education of Style: Thoughs, Expectations, and Best Trick Thread

well thank god it got a shit load better halfway through. The editing up to Tanners part was almost unwatchable and i couldnt believe they would think that looked good at all. So many shots ruined IMO. I think phil had some great stuff but i was too busy having a mild seizure to notice.

Tanners part was SICK. sick vibe. sick style. music. pillows.. everything!

that changed the whole movie for me after that the rest was great, not too much editing and solid all around.

Henrik just kills it, so crazy on rails and everything. Loved the BELLY reenactment intro haha and all the NAS songs

overall really good but wouldve been great without the editing in the beginning

but for $10 its a no brainer and def worth it.

just watched it, and thought it was amazing for 10 bucks, tanners part was awesome, same with Henriks, but i didnt really like Phil's part.

also the shot in the beginning of phil and henrik watching the clip of tanner from the intro to happy dayz was a cool tip of the hat

Yeah dude I thought that was real sick as well.
I thought phil's part was over-edited, but not nearly as bad as everyone was saying. His skiing was unreal. Tanner's seg was real impressive, he definitely has his feet back under him. As other people said, henrik murdered. The last shot of the movie might be "best trick", or his dub cork 7.
I thought the friends segment was really weird. Some really shaky footy, and I'm pretty sure Parker and B-Paul's stuff was from Network? Like, two years old? Seems kinda weird.
All in all, definitely worth the ten bucks.

I think it was a nose-butter 10! But yeah, that one, the dubcork 7, the perfectly stomped dub 10 in the pipe and the nose-butter dub 10 were amongst the best tricks!

Loved Henrik's segment intro with paddy flannagan. There's something about Hernik's accent that makes me believe every everything he says! Dunno why hahaha

Phil's seggy was kinda difficult to watch, but i think it was very well achieved in terms of what they were trying to transmit. So after re-watching the whole movie I was able to appreciate Bdog's uniqueness to the max instead of constantly being driven away by the massive amount of effects!

And Tanner. What to say? He is a beast. Loved every single bit of his segment. Stoked to se him back at it and looking forward to see what else he got in store for us! (Still impressed with what he pulled out at the Sammy Carlson Invitational!)

Overall a sick movie so it's really worth the 10 bucks! So to everyone that hasn't purchased the movie yet go ahead, you won't be dissapointed!

PS: I suffered everytime Hernik hit a wallride with the JJ's! Damn son, it must be because i'm about to grab a pair but cmon you could hit those walls with the AR7's!

okay last post i promise..

but i just watched it a second time and DAMN, if you like watching parkish skiing at all you can't miss this. the whole thing is packed with sick new tricks, and then henrik somehow steals the show after all that. i can count on one hand the number of tricks he does that youve seen before, almost everything he does is new/unique and sick looking. the skiing is so good in this movie i never once even complained to myself about the over the top editing and du rag stuff, they pull it off

just had to reiterate, if youre on the fence about getting it don't be, just buy it..10 bucks is a steal

first thing that came into my mind when i saw b-dogs part and i knew that thall always mentioned penny as a big influence.

you sir, know what's up!

This is what has baffled me the most i think about the film.

just think of the qp features that you could set up and when you added one to the line up it may add +/- 4 new trannyfinds and qp jumps,

the kind of shit that phil does in the pipe is years ahead of his time i think, something big about to come with pipe innovation.

Editing didn't bother me and skiing was great, but one thing that I found a HUGE miscalculation was the Friends segment. It completely broke the otherwise seamless flow of the movie and I just don't understand how they didn't see it.

Generally, I'm hoping that ski movies are moving towards this kind of direction with smaller and more compact crews and only few sponsors. That way you don't have to try to please everybody and the result will be something different, like this. For example, do you think PBP would have had the balls to use those trippy effects in Phil's part?

Oh yeah, and there was no stupid "basically skiing is just having fun with my buddies" -type of pseudo-philosophical bullshit that we might expect from some other productions this year...

The way those guys look at a feature is amazing. Whether they are lapping a park, riding in the BC or hitting a feature in the streets they have the ability to come up with a completely unique trick for the feature. So refreshing to watch a video like this. Very pleased with the $10 I spent. I'm still wrapping my head around Henrik's segment.

Can i just bring up phils tailpress on the high concrete ledge, barely got up there idk it just looked so sick

this is a great statement. I also though its was crazy high for a tailpress like that, must have been pretty sketchy but Phil makes it look too easy.

seriously, i dont know how phil pulls off any of the stuff he does, 50-50 up a tree to tranny find down another tree, i was sitting there like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat the fuck just happenend

Dollo segment hits pretty hard at first, but once you rack a couple listens, b-dogs part is the one that really stands out.

loved the trippy editing I'm tired of the super clean cut cookie cutter shit everyone else puts out and this will def be a flick I will watch over and over again.

oh yeah skiing killed it too!

because it isn't sold through itunes, just downloaded and played as a podcast through it.

Paypal, and credit card options.

Haha I loved how at the movie premiere at Newport Tanner was giving a speech and talking about how there wasn't any melodramatic "We got up so early and killed it in the backcountry and it's hardwork" etc. and all that usual jargon. Such a good vibe for the whole deal, just wish they could re-release it with a clean part for Phil.

Just finished watching it and honestly the editing didn't bother me too much. Like every third trick i was going WHAT THE FUCK! as the style and tricks were on point. Great creativity in they're urbans and soundtrack was pretty good.

Well worth the 10$ and I'm gonna go watch it again.

It was really awesome!

Best Trick: Henriks dub 10 in the pipe.

The music in T-Halls segment was just brutal though. Some guy just whining in an awful nasally, off pitch voice over a perfect alright track.

Since I tore into the editing of Phil's part previously, I have to say this:

I originally watched the movie, unbeknownst to me, in the fucking IPHONE version. The quality overall was pretty poor, and that coupled with the abundance of effects added up to a really visually jarring, grainy, amateurish look that, despite the fact that the skiing and flow was fucking unreal, made it tough to fully enjoy.

I have since rewatched the flick in the intended desktop format, and many of my issues with the presentation of Phil's part were erased. It's still not maybe exactly to my taste, but seeing it in higher quality, the effects look a lot better and were less distracting overall. I'm glad I realized my mistake as the film overall looks a hell of a lot better!

Awsome movie, wasnt a huge fan of all the face shots of tanner and him trying to act all thug in kingston. sick skiing nonetheless, editing was kinda weird but I fux wit it. Skiing creativity was off da chainz for sure though.

sorry dude, tanner rainville's lone shot was mute. though I'm pretty sure it didn't take away from the movie. on that note my favorite grab was either emile bergeron's liu kang in a cork 10 or the obvious nomination of vince G's octo dub 12. whoever said the friends seg ruined the flow of the film I think is tripping. where else would you put it and still have it remain in the core content?

I really enjoyed watching T at work again. the pillows weren't quite Believe quality, but damn impressive all the same. His first published doubles (other than back/wackies) oozed and his tranny finding shots were fun too. I'm not gonna complain about the Jamaica shots because that is a part of his life. I'm glad he's capable of producing such a well rounded seggy, complete with bigger lines. The only critique I can throw out is that he needs to hold off on the reverts. Keep it coming T, can't wait to see what happens this year!

as for B&E, the shit they do and make look smooth is beyond me. but that isn't quite my cup of tea. I'll leave the review of that shiz to you younger folk. Iberg's medicine debut was a little over the top, but I don't mind some of the mind altering effects laced onto Cassabon.

For 10 bucks its a no brainer. I totally understand all the hate for Phil's part, it was a gongshow, that being said, he is one of the few people in a long time to actually choose a theme and stick to it! All around one of the most innovative groups of skiers!!
