Official Camp Fortune Thread

hmm they change things fast. saturday they had a flat box, a coffin box, 2 picnic tables set up in a row as a box and a lil barrel bonk.

im thinkin of goin tommoro, is fortune the best place around right now or is somwhere like kalabogie better? and if your willing to drive to tremblant, they had 7 or 8 boxes and rails, and a decent little booter

Tremblant definitely has the best setup right now from the pics and videos i've seen. But cascades is way better than anything else right now. And it's close. Calabogie is 1 hour+ depending on where you live.

It's probably worth making the drive to tremblant about 11 different things in the north park and tommorow there is going to be 4 new features in a smaller park on the south side saw them working on it today.

man i think edel has teh msot right now, anyway, but tremblant has a sick jump that is very flippable, with a nice long landing, so you can go like 7 to 25 feet

what does edel have?

and anyone going to be at fortune tomorrow if its open? i might brave the shitty conditions just because im desperate to get on the snow/ ice for the first time this season.

Or i might go into depression

i went today, and it pretty much blew hard. Marshal was closed so all they had was one little box and 2 picnic tables..... wasnt worth going

well i avnt been out all season so probably would have been worth it haha, oh well i couldnt becasue i left for montreal.

yea they were moving stuff to marshall. should be open later this week and'll probably be pretty decent once it's open. if you're going for park, don't bother with fortune till marshall is open

To be completely honest im not much of a fan of the fortune terrain park ( edelweiss is my park destination) but my friend is an allmountain skier and really likes fortune so if i went there i would be doing minimal to no park skiing.

Are there any good hidden spots at fortune, in the trees that is?

maybe if theres a ton of snow, but especially right now theres absolutley no good skiing. Skyline wasnt even open today, only 3 basic runs were

plenty, but we need more snow. the "backcountry" at fortune's definitely the best around if you know where to go. and if you dont mind doing some hiking it can be quite epic. a dump of a foot's all we need

Haha, well you boys can let me know of these good spots ( mainly looking for good tree skiing ) as the season progresses, i mean ive heard of some good spots to that affect but i ski at edelweiss %90 of the time so never really got to check them out.

Im going tomorrow, night skiing. If anyoen is there im short, in a stickered up helmet, red jacket, grey pants, 08 invaders, striped ( black and white) poles.

i think i mmaayyy have seen you getting off the main lift, were you in a group? and is your red/black suit fitted rather than baggy?

Also i went today and they have amrshall open, a coffin box, 2 "large" jumps( not that large) and 2 smaller ones, 2 c boxes, an up flat box and finally there wall.

Who else was there? i saw a few twins, i also spied a pair of afterbangs so i thought it may be an ns'er

yep, fitted, not baggy.. that'd be me. and the jumps were brutal, that last jump is plain out dangerous, massive jump for the size of it with the smallest little landing and potential to fly the fuck off that. someone's gonna overshoot that bitch bad and break themselves

yea i definetly saw you then, im not sure if you saw me, i was with a friend in a black jacket and grey pants riding some 181 msps, i was in a red jacket, grey pants, stickered up helemt on invaders with striped poles and we were with two girl one skiers one border.

and yea i didnt even hit any today, i got such a bad vide from the jumps, i did a couple boxes but skied all mountain for the majority

okay, so for fortune:

in their park on marshall they have

-coffin box

-4 small jumps

-up-flat box

-right c-box

-left c-box

-wall ride

and on pinneaut they have

-straight box

-picnic table

park is shit, they dont know how to built it at all. it's quite obvious no one there knows what they're doing

Sorry for the dub post but I was up on sat. and the first 5 runs were PRIME. Closest thing to a pow day this season...for me atleast.

I was there last night - it was brutal.

Jumps were really bad with flat, icy landings. Spinning off these things is death

Where did the dub kink and the downrail go? All they have are ride-on boxes. Kind of regretting getting a night pass.

I need to search for this

and like said, the park is shit, last year the jumps were actually decent ( in my opinion ) but so far tihs season ive just stayed away from them becasuse they are shit.

Yeah probably should have even though they are a bit farther of a drive

Remember fortune's part 2 or 3 years ago? I remember them having 3 solid jumps and the rails/boxes setup decently. Not the greatest but certainly better than they are now.

fortune sucks so much. i was at cascade on friday night and the free park was amazing. the revolution park looks amazing too but you have to pay to get in.

alot apparently

i really want to check out cascade, i havnt been in 2 years ( or whenever it was when we had practically no snow) and they had no park so i had a very bad first impression.

But yes hoping to make it up sometime this year, but if i continue on my cureent rate of skiing i doubt i will, ive gotten out twice all season, fuck my life. I never have a ride

They didn't have any park tonight. The shitty one on Marshall got taken down and everything was moved to Pineault. None of the boxes were set up and they were shaping two decent sized jumps. I asked a dude on the park crew and he said it would be open on Friday. I'm happy there will be a new park, but did they really have to take the old one down before setting the new one up?

This is actually great news - Fortune realized their park sucks, and they are at least trying to do something about it.. I'm heading there tonight, hopefully they have something set up

I really don't think fortune really cares? They are the busiest hill in ottawa/gatineau because it is so close and it doesn't matter what they do because people will still come! The park scene is a small percentage of the ski population and lets face it when it comes down to it ski hills just want to make money and the park scene isn't where the money is at. They want to keep the costs low and make money so really they don't want to spend money in the park because they don't see the return. The only way to change fortune park, I would say is change hills to cascade, or edelweiss and mebay they will realize they need to fix it up.

That's my rant.

I second that.

Also, the only reason that Cascade has such a good park is because a couple of years ago they made a ton of money from their water park. They decided that their park needed an upgrade so that's what they did.
