Official Callout: Short Skis

I'm 6'4" 205 and have been on E-Dollo's for the last 3 seasons. They're on their last legs and I'm pissed they don't come in 188 anymore, it's been the perfect everyday quiver for me. Now I can't think of what to get for my next park ski,
 
Agreed . If you aren’t skiing anything 1” taller than you, you aren’t a real skier

I.E. I’m 5’10 and rock a 192

Except those heavy big tips mash through cruddy snow and float while still being able to ski hardpack just as well as a shorter ski.

agree. i ride 186s and when I watch myself on landings and takeoffs literally 60% of my ski is touching the ground. rocker is deceiving

Don't know about Vishnu's, but a huge selling point of ON3P is their ski's elliptical sidecut. This means that if you really know how to ski, you can initiate the edge pretty far up along the tip while carving. Here it is in their words:

"The sidecut consists of an elliptical arc that begins at boot center and gets progressively smaller as it extends toward the tip and tail of the ski, resulting in a ski that carves harder the more it is put on edge, yet remains stable when skied flat."
 
Y’all are wild I’m 6’3 and rock 177 bdogs. I’d say they are right around my eyes. Now granted the don’t have the early rise tip/tail y’all are riding, this ski is lighter because it’s smaller allowing you to feel more free with your movement and I’d say the stiblity is incredible. Maybe y’all should learn to land. I don’t think I could ever ride a ski longer than 182 in park mostly cause I’m a skinny guy and trying to flex a large ski is just too difficult.

People can ski wtf they want. If they wanna roll with Soul 7's in the park then thats fine by me, if they wanna ride short skis then cool, if they wanna roll with long skis, great. Just chill fam.

I’m below average height. I’m also cheap af and try to buy skis cheap using my local classifieds. To widen my selection, I get skis that taller people use.

At the moment though, they’re pretty reasonably sized.

That makes sense but when you’re on a rail or in the air a ski is a ski despite how much rocker it has. But physically shorter skis are different because that’s less weight you have to deal with in the air.

5’8’’ all my skis are ~186 biggest pair are 188. Wouldnt want anything shorter but I dont really ski park anymore.

Except for every Front Ranger Jerry who uses his Ikon or Epic pass on the weekends. With their super clean Arcteryx and Patagonia shells. Usually skiing DPS.

My point is that there are a lot of average skiers skiing skis that are way too long for them because they think it's cool when they would be way better suited on skiing a length they can handle and actually turn.

That’s just not something I’ve observed here in CO at least.
 
It doesn't matter what you have its what you do with what you have that.matter. my shortest ski is 177 and my longest ski is 215. Im 5-9 and both are a blast in their own way. Variety is the spice of life. I think theres a company that makes custom skis along with their very popular skis.

I'd say that's quite the opposite. Most average or your dad skiers are skiing skis in the 160-175cm range. Look around next time you're at a resort. Most people are on short skis.

And tall guys on short skis is like muscle men driving mini cars. It's hilarious and yes I'm 100% judging you. If you're short, I'll let it slide.
