Lets try this out.

This thread is about Alpine Meadows. Post rumors, stoke, photos, trip reports, ideas, anything and everything that is relevant to AM. Try to keep bitching to a minimum, but if you have a legit concern/complaint, feel free to post it here (in an intelligent and non-belligerent/annoying manner).

It works wonders on TGR to have a season thread for tahoe, lets see if it'll work on a smaller scale within this regional. Try to keep things about AM contained in this thread, so we have less clutter in the CA regional on the whole.

I'll begin.

I have been hearing rumors from various condo-dwellers at the base of AM that Friday is a go. I talked to a few people at different times today who were consistent in saying that troops are being gathered and/or that Friday should be opening day. The decision should be made by tomorrow, Monday the 22nd, so look for announcements from Alpine and/or confirmation here and on UnofficialAlpine.com.

I spoke to several people who skinned up Alpine, too. Reports gathered today and yesterday, all from people who skinned YESTERDAY, Sat. 20th. This means at least 2-3 feet more have fallen since then.

Deer Camp is deep, but there are some NST's out and about.

Coverage on Yellow was good.

Sympathy Face is well covered with a good enough base that the guy I talked to did not hit any NST's while enjoying his turns.

Ive been up on top the last three days...opening top to bottom on friday says the lift mechanincs that have been testing electricity at all the towers

Itss too deep to ski right now... Ive straitlined the mtn two days inna row and barely have speed to make turns!!!

yesterday at 330 the snow was neck deep if you tried to walk without skis/snoshoes... Im 6' 185

sooooo top to bottom means what? i imagine summit is gonna run, but what errainis available off of it? are any other lifts gonna run? backside?

FRIDAY OPENING DAY IS OFFICIAL!!!

And alpineplease I assume you mean don't tell people where your stashes are... don't worry, they're safe (maybe not from me though ;)

The recent snow storm hit Alpine Meadows with 75 inches of new snow at the base and 105 inches at the mid mountain snow stake, making it the largest single storm to be recorded during the month of November in the mountain's history.

Combined with the first 2 snow storms in the month (Nov. 7 and Nov. 10), Alpine has accumulated a total of 89 inches at the base and 124.6 inches at mid mountain - making this month the second-largest November in the mountain's history.

Hope to see you at Alpine on Friday, Nov. 26.

Best opening day ever!

Runs in order:

1) Dogleg in idiots (first) to middle sister (first)

2) Nose of beaver (first)

3) Center line in Keyhole (First)

4) Christmas tree alternate (first)

5) skiers left edge of estelle castle spine (first) to bernies cliffs (first)

6) Center line in Buttress (first)

7) bakery break...

never slayed so many virgins in one day... retarded good!!!

more snow tomorrow...

That turned out pretty sick, dude! This whole weekend was absolutely ridiculous, sorry I ditched you guys when you started talking about going into the lodge for a break.

So much awesome!

I'll be up on Saturday and Sunday with a few buddies. I'm kinda wondering what skis I should be riding though...

It was raining in the bay today, don't know if it still is.... I'd say bring pow and all mtns, then choose and leave one locked up in the car when you get there.

I'm getting dropped off I believe, so I think I'll end up bringing my Rubies. Good all mountain capabilities, but great in the pow.

was creamy thick pow today... tomorrows gonna be choppy but it looks better for sunday and monday

found fresh tracks til 2 since no one was out there

Today was amazing in the morning. Got second chair and first tracks off summit, but tweaked my knee midmorning.

Would anyone be willing to show a fellow NSer around Alpine a little bit? I used to ride there a looong time ago, and I don't remember much.

I'll gladly reciprocate with my spots at Northstar...or Vail, if we are somehow out in Colorado at the same time, haha.

Ay man for sure- I'm gonna be up from around Dec 20th to Jan 5th so if you see me on the hill (grey smith variant, yellow jacket, grey pants) gimme a holla. Always down for some more riding buddies.

I'll be there the same dates. You'll probably catch myself and alpine_pow skiing together a couple times. I'm in blue pants, blue/black/orange jacket, black helmet. I'd be happy show you around for sure man, just shout out and say hello. As he said, more riding buddies are always a good thing.

sick edit peter! i recognize some of those lines. thanks for showing us around last week homie
and it looks like whoever is around sunday/monday is gonna score some more pow without all the holiday crowds

Dude today was awesome, 6-8 inches of powpow. And it looks like tomorrow will be the same!

And no worries dude, skiing was the sick.

lost a pole today in the landing of M1... scott series 4 race pole...48 inches... hit me up if you find it but be careful and dont get skewered!

so whats up with alpine?

Hey jonahs, you gonna be building anything special with all this new snow now that the holiday crowds are gone?

ive always wanted a road gap kinda feature. like a flat takeoff with a 20-30 ft gap, 10 ft drop, to nice landing.

or one of those step up step down features, like a smaller version of the one in eytrip.

yeaaaaa boi!

Lost a Moment Donner Party ski on thursday, went into a treewell fortress right before Gunner's Knob, hit me up if anyone finds it.........

I'll keep an eye open; I can sometimes frequent Gunner's depending on the day. Which tree specifically? And which traverse onto the knob do you use, the racecourse side or the park side?

I don't usually go that side, but I'll keep an eye open... and if you don't find it, I spend a good deal of time in the Alpine area in the summer (parents own a condo) so I'll ride my bike up there and see if I can find it. Good luck.

jonahs when do you think youll be able to dig the park out? im probly gonna be up later this week high as a kite on opiates from surgery monday morning, and by then the snow will be wrecked by the warm temps, so i was just gonna cruise around, throw some spraffys and urlachers, tap some inanimate objects, you know keep it mellow.

i was liking the look of the road gap type feature when i was up last, but it was a pow day and it looked like you had just built it as it was built of death cookies...not smooth. you still have that thing?

Ill be taking some pics for an update when i go up.

We're digging out every night. The small parks rebuild should be done tonight. I'm going to start on the big parks tonight. Hope to have it all back together by friday.

No cliff drop/stepup-stepdown anymore but I'll see what we can do for you. Everything was buried. Been one crazy season!

Its all good Jonahs, youre doing waaaaay better than those fuckers at squaw... as of today there was not a single park feature available on the mountain...

I'm wondering what the scheduled closing date is for Alpine this year. Debating wether or to get an alpine or squaw spring pass.

Alpine is through the 15th of May. Squaw's got a week longer season, but hopefully with some convincing Alpine'll run Summit and a porta pottie for longer than that. hopefully.

Those jumps look so nice! Squaw is still blowing it. All their work is going into that private Red Bull park.

The roo ridge park is so much fun right now, it's ridiculous! Hot lappin' it with a bundle of people today was a good time
