Official Aggressive Inline Thread

Since the Cult forum is gone, figured I'd start up a thread to gather everyone on NS that still inlines to let us talk about all things blading. I'm in Cleveland and the scene here is honestly sick, it's gotten me so stoked to skate again. Rolled around a park yesterday for the first time in years and was lovin' it. Built myself a box to practice on as well. Next step for me is committing to royales, ballsing up to try some topside stuff, and hitting more vert.

Anyone out there back blading now that ski season wrapped??

I bought blades last year and decided to go to a skate park despite not riding any sort of rollerblade since elementary school. Unsuprisingly, I quickly fell and hurt my tailbone a little bit and sort of never got back to it last summer. This summer I have started just rolling around trying to get more comfortable shifting my weight and getting in to different stances. I think I'm going to invest in some of those padded shorts that protect the hips and tailbone before I try anything out of my comfort zone again.

OP you mentioned something about a network for agressive inline people (similar to newschoolers?) that is no longer around. Do you know of any good forums for agressive inline?

The scene is doing well here in MN too.

I have a pair that I bought last summer that I've rolled around on but haven't done any tricks though. Jump to 180, go "switch" are about it.

Last weekend I went 10 miles on some borrowed fitness skates and that kicked my butt.

I haven't found any online discussion forums for blading similar to here or like Slap for skate board.

I just follow some local bladers amd the Bladies account on IG

The Cult forums were separate mini forums on NS and one was dedicated to blading. Unfortunately those got taken down a while back and I haven't found any other forums for it.

Inlining is definitely forcing me to focus on landing stuff perfectly centered otherwise I slip out. I feel like the higher level of balance required on blades is gonna be a huge help come next ski season.

And your agree inlining is a huge help for skiing. My friend snowboarded and skateboarded his whole life, but inlined a bit during the summer at the skatepark too. He switched to skiing last season and already learned front swaps and 270 on along with a bunch of other tricks. No doubt he is talented but I think inlining had a lot to do with it

You should make vids documenting your progression and stuff bro. Would be sick

Planning on it! Started a "Learning Royales" video already!

Same thing happened to me, I inlined growing up and learned how to slide rails on them when I was probably like 12. I was always a snowboarder in the park when I was younger, but switched to skiing in highschool and was able to slide rails pretty easily on my first day on skis. 100% attribute the ability to do that to having inlined for so long. Definitely a great way to sharpen skills needed for park skiing in the summer months!

Learning how to inline definitely helped build confidence with rails even though the grinding sensation is quite different along with being able to lock and all compared to skis. Thankfully Boise got a snazzy skatepark in downtown with a solid inline/roller skate scene.

It's definitely good foreplay for the pre/post ski season snow slut.

I moved to the Boise area a few months ago. I don't skate or anything but kind of want to drop by this place and just watch and appreciate everyone who does. Looks like a sick park.

I think there’s another x games qualifier this summer you could go to

I go to Rhodes for the roller skating emo septum piercing babes

Update: getting worked on Royales. Can't seem to lock my back foot into the slide consistently. It feels like a repetition type trick where you just need to keep doing them so the grind continues

I got skates a few weeks ago and I’ve been getting worked, nothing like skiing lmfao I was dumb as hell thinking I’d just pick it up hahaha

I only skated twice this summer. I just wasn't into it this year I guess.

Heck yeah, love to see it!

I am upset with myself for offloading my old skates. They got fucking expensive in the past 15 years what was I thinking. I gave my Razors with the upgraded Shima liners and 50/50 frames to goodwill like a dumbass.

Bump because I just learned topside pornstar (going Mach 0 but still slid)

For some reason that was an easier learn than other beginner grinds, being pigeon toed kinda sucks

Respect topside tricks are the biggest barrier in blading IMO. I still can't do them well

Tbf it is just cuz I'm pigeon toed, way more natural position for me and easy on the knees
