Official 2016 UCI World Cup Downhill Thread

Leogang looks pretty nuts.

Also, Claudio and Gwin go brakeless for the course preview and it might be my favourite one yet.

It gets better every year, but that isn't saying a whole lot. It is such a weird track to ride, almost like they build certain sections and link them together without a cohesive top-to-bottom plan. Some of the other trails (from the top, or to the sides of the race track) have a lot of potential and are pretty fun though.

But it will never compare to Schladming. Most of the racers head there Monday after the race and have their own mini-World Cup. It's insane watching them absolutely destroy a proper track.

Leogang is shaping up to be pretty intense.

This is one of Claudio's more fun course previews

Damn that was a good race.

Hell yeah, absolutely nuts. Gwin destroyed the field. Mik threw a suicide no hander over the huge finish jump. Phil Atwill nose manualed into hot seat bikes at the finish, knocking them all over the place haha. And it was Tracy Hannah's "22nd" birthday. It was off the hook all around. Good times in Österreich haha

Mik is a fucking animal and one of the nicest guys on the WC. This footage is so rad

I love watching him on those flat grass / muddy corners near the middle-ish of the vid.

It seems like he has so much more traction than the guy he follows. Really shows his skill. He can keep to the inside of the corner the whole way, while the other guys are sliding all over the place. Or he is following a rut...

Lenzerheide is on! Qualis today (Friday) and Finals are on Saturday!

Check out some of the new paint jobs! The teams usually wait until World's to bring out new stuff, but it seems that a few of the teams/riders are getting fresh paint jobs almost every race.

While I can appreciate the humor of Peaty's, I think it's rather hideous

Troy's on the other hand is pure sex

So is Loris'... actually all of the Demos look sick this year

Combined with his kit, it's probably the ugliest thing to ever appear in a World Cup..... I love it

DANNY FRICKING HART!!!

The look on Danny's face when he doesn't realize that he actually won is totally priceless. He's in a state of absolute shock for at least 10 minutes haha. So good, such an insane race!

I'm definitely starting to like WynTV more than Claudio's previews...Lenzerheide with Peaty was awesome but something about Wyn's interviews reminds me of the kind of dry humor from the Office and I love it haha

HOLY SHIT this is going to be an insane race, definitely one of the all-time-great tracks in DH racing.

Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 just qualified 1, 2, 3, 4 with Gwin hitting over 75kph (46mph) in the speed trap, which is the fastest we've seen all year. That's just nutty on a mountain bike.

FINALS ARE TOMORROW (SATURDAY)!

Where is the replay? Red Bull tv crashed and I couldn't watch any of it while it was live.

Also, while Gwin hitting 75mph is impressive, I'm more impressed with Rachel Atherton hitting over 73mph. Has anyone ever been as dominant as she is, men or women?

kph yo but thats still some major ass hauling

Rachel's winning run from MSA. The course is so insane, the last wooded sections towards the end are absolutely brutal. Her 73.65 kph through the speed trap was faster than men's winner, Danny Hart (73.28). Fucking hell.

Just this latest round, not overall. He definitely has his struggles, same with Bryceland who's not doing so hot this year.

Gotchya, I'm on mobile and thought it was graphed from the start of the season not just time splits.

WORLD CUP FINALS IN ANDORRA

With his second place in qualis (40 points), Gwin has basically clinched the World Cup Overall. Danny Hart would need to win and Gwin would need to not get any points in the finals in order for it not to happen.

Finals are SATURDAY, so don't miss it!

Too bad about the weather in Andorra. But obviously Gwin deserved the overall and Danny finally got some wins in as well as Bruni. All is good in the world.

But I am very excited for all the custom kits for world champs. Going to be sick.

Atherton Racing & Trek came up with a different approach- don't add any paint, we want the lightest bikes possible. Raw carbon without a protective coat.

Here is a bunch of them.

I'm in love with Tahnee and her bike.
