Official 2014 Sochi Olympics Thread

I posted this is another thread, but it should be relevant to the interests of this thread.

f you have the internet find a way to change your proxy (I use the Hola extension for Chrome. You can change your region to pretty much anywhere in the world) and watch CBC's (easily the best Olympic coverage. The announcers actually know what they are talking about) Olympic coverage at:

http://olympics.cbc.ca/

(Bonus - it has archived footage of every event so far)

On an unrelated note - did anyone realize that Candide's made it to halfpipe semi-finals? She had a pretty decent crash in semi's.

On another unrelated note. Best Olympics related gif I've found so far:

so which one do i click on? I'm tired right now an technologically challenged at the moment so can someone give me a link that gets me right to the live stream? I don't know my tv provider info so that's a no go

this commentator is brutal. just sounds so damn awkward. and the pauses he takes when he doesnt know a trick... not to mention the back up commentator who seems to be watching skiing for the first time.

The british one is rubbish there isn't a backup even on nbc, kinda disrespectful to the sport that they clearly are putting no effort into the broadcast

NBC only lets me watch half an hour of live broadcast since i'm from Canada, but TSN isn't much better. However, the NBC one is brutal - no trick knowledge of even like basic grabs... the guy overuses the word 'jibbing' as well.

Thanks dawg, I'm using a Canadian site though (TSN). Hola is tight though, I've been using it for a couple months now, definitely a sick add-on

I really can't stand these judged sports being in the olympics, I don't know where else they should be but it doesn't seem right that someone winning based off of the opinions of others is crowned best in the world, thats a title earned through quantitative means.

Well that was a heartbreaking moment when Plushenko decided to withdraw and retire for good.

My Russian friends are in tears right now.

It was kind of odd that she kept asking him essentially the same question over and over, but I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt and say it wasn't just to get Bode to react the way he did.

Speaking of which. Fuck yeah, Bode, fuck yeah. No matter what else happens this olympics, I'm happy. Bode got a medal. That's all I really wanted from these games

Ya I don't think she wanted to make him that upset, and you're right, she kept asking basically the same question. But it was extremely obvious from the first time she asked about his brother that it was making him really upset and she just kept going with it. She turned him from happy to basically a wreck with one question then wouldn't leave it alone. I just felt really bad for him and wanted to falcon punch that whore.

Yeah, again, to be fair, Bode brought up his brother and was the one who started talking about it, so she probably thought it was okay to ask about, but she definitely should have stopped once it was clear that it was really hard for him to answer questions about.

So what's up with figure skating judging then? According to a lot of people it seems like the Americans bribed the judges or something like that. Apparently the Canadians skated better but got a significantly worse score. The coach of the Canadians and Americans even said she wasn't sure why there was such a large difference in points. And in something called the Finnstep was apparently where Canada lost the points, but even the inventor of it (an ex Olympian) said that the Canadians did it better.

And lets not forget that a bit over a week ago it was published that the judging would be rigged towards the Americans for this exact event.

Something fishy going on. But figure skating is known for its corruption.
