Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

I have Marleau AND Thornton.
And I've been trying to trade for Heater for weeks now haha. That line won me so many fantasy points last season it was ridiculous.
It's okay though. I have far and away the strongest team on paper in my entire league... I just cant afford injuries because i completely lack depth.
 
haha last year at the habs/isles game i was out. it was real close probably just about 50/50. an earlier game in the season got mobbed out by habs fans but that was mainly because there was a huge snowstorm and nobody could get there and the habs fans had bussed down earlier.

but there is a promotion tonight for $20.10 tickets so i think it will be pretty even.
 
absolutely dismantled the leafs last night...what happened to ya boy kessel leaf fans?? 7 goals in 8 games might be nice, but he played like a god damn chicken shit rookie last night
the fans totally got in his head and of course tim thomas aka hottest goalie in the league right now completely shut them down

thats what im sayin, you guys are being as retarded as leafs fans were a week ago. boys, its too early to start thinking we're champs just because were in 1st place. at this point, the points are so close that we can have like 5 bad games and be at the bottom of the list
 
leafs are still winning the stanley cup cause they're the greatest of all time. phaneuf is the best defenseman in the league, kessel is the best forward in the league, and macarthur is the best underrated player in the league. giguere is probably the best goalie too.
 
meh, leafs fans aren't that bad. leafs fans are leafs fans 4 lyfe. something to admire. it's sens fans that i hate. it isn't even a sports town. it's full of government people who really don't give a shit and go to games to pass the time and be social with other boring government shmucks. you frequently hear things like alfredsson is the best captain, fisher is the best pure-goal scorer, gonchar is the best defenseman, leclaire (IF HE CAN GET ROLLING) is one of the top goalies, etc etc. i mean, i'm a leafs fan because my dad was a leafs fan, it's always been in the family, he was friends with ex-leafs players, etc. there's some history there. sens fans are sens fans because they the do well every so often and playoff hockey adds a little spice to their boring lives. if you're going to be a fan, be a fan because you love the game, not because it gives you something to do. yet, leafs fans take all the heat for being passionate about their team. fuck that. just because they've blown ass these past few years doesn't mean i'm gonna jump ship and hop on the crosby band-wagon, or cheer for a safe team like detroit who's always going to be amazing..
 
patty sharp is an unreal player, i was pumped to see how well he started off this season. and #10 is the sickest number to have
 
Montreal is my team for sure. So far Price has been pretty solid. Responding to the guy who posted about the Halak trade, I think Lars Eller will explode soon, give him time, hes a young and talented player.
 
lolol, i was up at western university for Halloween and a leafs fan tried to get physical with me after i told him that the habs were 2nd (at the time) and leafs were in like 11th place.
 
ahaha yeah football talk is always great. beat the gaels 40-19. But we have to play western next AT western, my hope are high but i feel bad for any mac fan thats going to the game in london. western kid are crazyy as i clearly saw this weekend, can't believe they get away with so much shit in residence
 
anybody catch that islanders flyers game on saturday. Briere out for three games over a wicked intentional high stick to the face of an islander. Really uncalled for, I mean fighting is one thing but wow that was pretty fucked. I don't know much about hockey though, maybe that type of retaliation happens more often than I think.

anyway, Flyers have been looking much better lately and bobs is really getting comfortable in the goal it looks like. I'll be sure to tune in on saturday though as they play the islanders again and there has got to be at least another fight or two coming.
 
yeah, briere crosschecking neilsen in the face was a cowardly move. and it pissed me off how the refs held ricky back when he went after briere.

briere definelty got 3 games so he didnt play in the game on sat and also because it happened under 1 minute left in the 3rd in a 6-1 game.

i am sure we will see konopka and carcillo drop em again regardless of the briere's scumbaggery. maybe we will get to see a trevor gillies and jody shelley bout.

really all i care though is that the islanders are actually in a position to win that game.
 
this. in my opinion, if you do something like briere did, you should have to face the consequences (physically)

i think briere deserves a game or 2. if that. i would have much rather seen konopka or gillies kick his ass than see him sit out 3 games. hell i would like to just see dipietro fight him and maybe even lose than see him get suspended. although 1 on 1 against briere id put my money on ricky
 
That makes sense, somebody is less likely to take a cheap shot if they know they're gonna get their ass kicked over it I guess. I don't know which do ya think hurts worse??? These guys make plenty of money, and I don't know the numbers on the fines, but I'd imagine getting your ass kicked hurts worse than a pain in the wallet.

As a flyers fan I'd rather see him get his ass kicked too honestly, at least then he'd be back to crafty wrap around the next night even if he got a black eye or lost a tooth.

You think the islanders will remember this and come back at him later in the season or is this the kind of thing that's settled in the next game......of course conveniently briere won't be in the next game. Is an islander gonna be headhunting at the end of the season I guess is what I'm asking??? I guess it would be worse if the islander actually got hurt huh?

and as far as bets, I don't think anybody is betting on briere in any fight.

Briere will be the next Marc Savard in time. Players will head hunt him....few good hits which we know his frail little body can't take....bye bye career.

Ps. Crosby fights.....what does that make Briere?
 
Don't make more out of it than it was, acting like you've never seen a defenseman come to the rescue of crosby.

And I just looked up some of crosby's fights and they aren't any more impressive than briere's really. What has he been in like 7 or 8 compared to brieres what 3 maybe career fights. He should be fighting, it looks like he's got about 3 or 4 inches and 40 or 50 pounds on briere.

Danny briere could probably kick someones ass too if he pulled their jersey over their head......just sayin.

Thats the problem with Philly, they so into the "Broadstreet Bully" look, but have one of the pussiest players in the game...then they make Pronger wipe Briere ass for him after he scurries away.
 
i dont think much will happen to briere.

last preseason phaneuf hit okposso real dirty. then much later in the season. matty martin absolutley destroy phaneuf when he was on the leafs. just sending a message it was a clean hit and i dont even think that martin got a penalty.

id like to see something similar take place with this briere situation. although i am sure konopka will fight carcillo as soon as possible on saturday maybe even gillies and shelley.

to me what briere did was just a bitch move. he did it to frans neilsen, i dont think ive ever seen frans nielsen fight and he probably has something like 40 PIM in 3 seasons.

 
I was wondering about that, is that fairly new or do some guys just not use em? I was checking out some of crosby's brawls from only a couple years ago and he did it, I'll give ya that though, crosby does look like more of a scrapper than briere.

 
I guess I just didn't see it as that cowardly because I'm used to seeing defensemen cover for littler guys like that. Also ya don't see many goalie fights as teams are pretty protective of him, so I don't know I thought it was just like unwritten that you don't brawl with a goalie. I've only ever seen em go goalie on goalie before. Like I said though, I don't watch a ton of hockey and I'm pretty new to the sport in general...... as I'm sure you can tell.

I don't it was pretty fuckin low of a blow to chop a guy right off the faceoff like that. I'm just not ready to call briere the biggest pussy in the nhl for that stunt. Is it some kind of team politics or something having your smallest guy cheap shot like that, like if any other guy pulled that would he have been totally stomped on the spot by the other team? Does a hockey player take it upon himself to pull that shit or do ya think the whole team new he was gonna do that??

ahhh whatever I'm done for now. I agree with ya though for the most part that was weak and he should have had to fight somebody then and there for it.
 
don't be bitter just cause we're ahead of you right now :) Remember it's still the beginning of the season, I understand though that was a pretty good ass kickin we handed you last time wasn't it?
 
you can't be someone who errs on the side of caution, looking to protect himself, while going around picking fights..
