Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

Correction: I just looked at my texts and it was Ference and Chara headed to Lucic's house.

As if it mattered.

So fucking awesome. Nobody knows how to have fun like Boston.

woah woah woah... you're not the only city that consumes alcohol after they win the cup so lets cool it with the claims pal.. ;) but really enjoy the shit out of it. repeating is even harder.

Just an observation :)

Lots of people have this thought in their head that Boston fans are dicks, but they clearly have not seen the unbridled jubilation and all-encompassing happiness of the city on a day like tomorrow. I've never seen players go out and party with fans before in such a manner, but maybe I'm missing something. Either way, they know how to have fun- out int he streets with the fans. So cool. Counting down the seconds!

i wanna know this too. i just read on twitter horton was playing with a separated shoulder before his concussion and there's 1-2 players who may need surgery for the Bs.

hahaha what? you sound like youre from Gay London

if you could read sentences that werent in cockney rhyme you'd see that my post was laughing at all of your stupid, tryhard, misinformed posts, not just the riot one. you talk out of your ass more than everyone else here combined and your british dirtbag slang makes you sound like a little wannabe teddyboy

as you might say, whoy dont ya get well fooked mate?

he's not a legend. once he plays more than just a handful of seasons, posts 12 shutouts, keeps up an outstanding gaa and s% throughout all his seasons, and inspires more than what's expected, then you can call him a legend. Even then 'legend' is a strong word. It's what you call Sawchuk, or Roy, or maybe Brodeur. But certainly not Thomas.

im seriously considering skipping my own grad party to go to the parade. its worth the next three weeks of hate id get from friends and family.

Thats because Tim Thomas didn't get into the NHL until he was 28. All time save % for season, vezina, conn smythe, 6 goals against in 7 games? Sawchuck was 20, Roy was 20, Brodeur was like 19.

there's a reason he didn't get into the NHL until that age, he just wasn't good enough. Meaning if he can only be a top player for 5-10 years of his life he's automatically not any legend material. Normally goalies don't start playing in the NHL until about that time. Maybe a touch younger. But Sawchuck, Roy, Brodeur, they started that young because they're what you consider the best goaltenders of all time. and can't forget Hasek.

and saying he's the best because he got one record doesn't mean shit. There are a lot of players who get a record one year and you'd never consider them top of the sport. Like Selanne.

if he manages to post yearly stats similar to this year and the year he won the Vezina for the next 10 years, then I'll say he's one of the greatest goaltenders ever. This happens all the time where a goalie starts getting all sorts of hype and they do well for a few seasons then fall to just above average. Like Miller, wasn't he Team USA's wonder boy? or Kiprusoff.

they're still vancouver fans arent they?

but in the end everything will be fine and boston has the cup now. go b's!

my party that night was streaking dounuts and a bunch of brewskis.

fun night that i will remember forever

That vid on the last page was amazing. Forget hating other teams and all the bullshit that happened, all the people upset with eachother, that was a hell of a playoff season. Stoked to start it all up next year.

from a boston fan, i dont think thomas really cares if he is known as a legend (which i wouldnt call him YET.) did no one hear the interview where he said something to the effect of "id be happy if i was still playing in finland. i was happy there, you know? i was having a good time there and as amazing as this is id still be happy if i was still in europe." just goes to show you what a great guy he is, just loving the game and buckling down and working hard at it when he needs to.

where were you? i was in government center and met a co-owner of O-water. we were talking and i noticed he had an O-water bottle but it had booze in it and i was like "yeah O-water is shit", prior to knowing he was a co-owner. i felt bad.

DUDE!!!!!

I was right behind you! I was the guy in the chrome aviators that climbed on the trash can if you turned around at all. Not the angle of the buildings in the vid below. You were literally ten feet or so from where I was.

Shit that was fun. Got into Btown at about 4am after seeing a friend's show, got to my buddy's house who owns a record label and so of course he had about 9 people from some hardcore punk band from Iowa all over his place partying. Passed out on the floor around 6, up at 10 and ran to the parade still definitely not sober.

anyone see me? wore a jiberish camp blunderwood shirt on, tryin to see how many other NSers would be there. but i didnt see any =(

hahaha no way i would've even noticed seeing an NSer. sooo crowded, but everyone was just genuinly happy (slash drunk). I ended up towards the end of the parade, like two blocks from the pru. SO fun and so good to see everyone stoked on the Bs and Boston in general. one of the best signs I saw was simply "welcome to the club boys!" with sox, pats and celts logos. great day for boston indeed.
the Sox are honoring the bruins at the game tomorrow. first pitch I believe? not sure who will be there, but stanley and prob big z, patrice and recchi? anyone else know?

yea, im watching the coverage on tv right now. holy shit i didn't think it was that crowded. Very good vibe from everyone though, had 3 guys offer me weed and saw a drunk as fuck guy trying to take pictures with his camera pointing at himself. When chara rode in on his bike and every single person there cheering him on, that was an awesome sight.

they're saying 1 million people turned out for the parade today, and there were only 9 arrests. that's amazing.
and after raging all day in boston, the cup is now down at foxwoods with big Z and some of the team. i love it. marchand's voice while he tried to sing black and yellow is a testament to how hard they've been going since they won. party on

saw some guy face down in the grass, black out drunk in the middle of the park, then cops arrested him and he got put into a gator where he immediately fell right out of it then got put back into it where he almost fell out again... and there were people smoking a joint behind me in the third row... all in all it was a pretty successful day i would say

Fucking work, oh well. I got into boston around 3 to see the aftermath. There was a firetruck outside of the building I had to take a test in because, people were setting off alarms in the bathrooms. I think I've fallen in love with Boston again.

ended up not being able to go to the parade...oh well. Sox game was filled with some fun ejections from parade folk.

fortunately i was told that we'll have exclusive access to the cup tomorrow when they bring it by. Hopefully i can snap some pictures with it...

funny how seeing the stanley cup is a big deal to me, even though i see the world series trophies literally every single day.

I saw some kid with an armada hat next to the public library copley. I was on the other side so couldn't really talk to him.
Yeah that was real fun, saw one guy get arrested and then they had to march him down the street between the two fences because there was no way to get over. Everyone was cheering for him haha. Then a chick passed out or something and had to be taken on a stretcher down the street.

i got to copley at 8:30 for a spot right on the fence..got to see the parade twice as they crossed went past the mass ave/comm ave intersection...so happy for the team they were in awe of the fans it was amazing
