Since i'm a Vancouver fan and long time resident, I feel the need to try and shed light on this situation and prevent any more obscure accusations. I do realize "Vancouver" can be generalized amongst all the suburbs, but I can guarantee that the majority of the rioters were not from the Vancouver/Downtown core. A true Vancouverite, on the evening of June 15th, would have been congratulating the Boston Bruins inside Rogers Arena, because we realize that this team still deserves an ovation after completing such a feat. A true Vancouverite would have put their body on the line to try and prevent looting against rioters. A true Vancouverite, along with 15,000 others, would have skipped out on work to try and amend the wreckage and aftermath from the early hours of the night.
And if I may say, a true Vancouverite would hold their head high, congratulate the Boston Bruins and all of their supporters in a mature way, and realize that we had a great run and still live in one of the most livable cities in the world.
People feel they can destroy the city of Vancouver because they don't that have to deal with the mess. They get back on the train and head to their lower class suburbs of Surrey and East Vancouver and rave about how they disgraced a city they don't even live in.
A true Vancouverite would know this, and not continue to post such arrogant comments like childish deliquents.
