Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

heres some more nuggets for your dumbass...

Best regular season save percentage ever: .938

An even better save percentage in the playoffs, also a record: .940

Record number of playoff season saves: 798

Playoff shutouts: 4

Game 7 shutouts: 2

Record for saves in a Finals: 238

Saves in the Finals Game 7: 37

i dint say it didnt work , he does the job no arguing , but it wont work for his 5 years (bug ass maximum) left ..

2) they did have the easiest rout up , i mean the canadiens did put up a good fight but were no serious threat , 2nd, they played philly . nuff said .. vancouver was a good series , even though vancouver was weak and was not playing up to their talent

The reason Boston won is hard work and determination. And Tim Thomas standing on his head. And shitty Vancouver defence, I seriously counted about 10 huge giveaways at their blue line. Coming from a guy hoping for Vancouver to win, Boston deserved, and Tim Thomas deserves everything he gets.

nothing in this thread has been more wrong than this. It has NEVER been about Canada vs USA. It's entirely about Boston and Vancouver.

If it was about Canada USA then take here's some stats for ya:

Boston:

players from United States: 4

players from United States who played in playoffs: 1

players from Canada: 22

players from Canada who played in playoffs: the entire team except 6 players

you're just so wrong about the NHL being Canada vs. USA. Obviously not a real hockey fan if that's what you were thinking

did you not just make a comment about the irony of the cup spending a majority of its time in Canada this summer? or was that someone else?

whats wrong with you man, everyone in this thread has been gracious in defeat. and guaranteed most of the people doing that shit downtown were not from vancouver, probably from neighboring cities like surrey and abbotsford.

seriously, you cant generalize an entire city based on a few hundred peoples actions. the only thing worse than a sore loser is a cocky piece of shit winner like yourself.

Well i guess i gotta say Congrats Boston,

But the biggest congratulations goes out to Timmy Thomas, the reason Boston won the cup so my hat goes off to him.

I gotta admit Boston did a good job of not letting Vancouver play their game.

Turning point for me was Hamhuis injury, after his injury the D pairings got fucked and just had a trickle down effect throughout the lineup, then Rome gets suspended and two of our most dependable guys are gone. no excuses, Boston deserved to win the way Vancouver played this entire series, 8 goals is fucking pathetic.

We are close though, just need a few minor adjustments here and there and we'll be back fighting for Lord Stanley next year!

gracious AFTER defeat is what I'm seeing. Not before. It doesn't matter where they're from man, they're still fans. I live in a suburb of Chicago, but when I'm at school and people ask me where Im from I don't just tell them Barrington, IL. I say I'm from Chicago, I root for Chicago teams, making me a CHICAGO fan, despite the fact I have a 35-40 min commute to the city. Its called a sphere of influence.

Lets be honest FRODO... you can't just simply riot like that with just a few hundred people. If it was just a few hundred people, the police would have a had a much easier job subduing the crowd, and you guys would have been able to save face.

and just to clear things up for you Boston =/= Chicago. I didn't fucking win. You guys steam rolled us, had a momentary 3 game lapse, and finally finished it off. So shut your fucking mouth.

Louis Vuitton got looted haha.

I was in Boston for the game and filmed some of the celebrations afterwards. Missed some of the bigger ones further downtown, but it was still pretty cool to witness everything else.

hahaha there's pictures on barstool of the boys bringing the cup out to happy hour at tias. might have to make my way in town to try and party/get a glimpse with the cup. love it. ference looks like a proud dad pushing it in a stroller, and march mount is raising it up and kissing it in the middle of the bar.

The bruins have 17 Canadians, 10 Euros and 3 Americans. Just thought i'd point that out. not that anyones doing the USA vs Canada thing. I guess one of those Americans is fucken TIM THOMAS! god he's a legend.

i may have only witnessed one riot in person but it is 90% people standing around 10% people fucking shit up. out of the 5000+ on the streets there were maybe 500 people fucking shit up. the police didn't do their job properly last night, i went hours without seeing a single cop in the midst of all the destruction. they were not prepared for that, that's why they had troubles subduing the crowds.

vancouver lost, i accept that. boston was the better team, i just dont respect people like you who loop an entire city in with a couple of loose cannons. you want proof of this? over 1000 people showed up to the scene of the riots this morning, volunteering to clean up the damage.

on top of that there is a lot of speculation that the infamous Black Block (the group from the G8 summit riots), people who consider themselves anarchists I guess, were here. it wasnt canuck fans doing this, it was morons. people were going to riot win or lose.

How can you say the canucks were embarrassed? Althought you guys out scored us, this series went the distance and by no means was embarrassing. Great series and congrats to boston, their physicality and goal tending defenetly won the cup for them. Nucks fans were really classy in the stadium cheering for thomas , lucic and recchi. I HIGHLY doubt that the bruins would have even stayed for the presentation had the canucks won.

As for the riots, the majority of the shit was started by the anarchist group/problem we have in vancouver. No canucks fan came downtown with gasoline and bats. The rioters came prepared. Canucks fans were probably breaking some shit and just watching the cars being set on fire which defenetly did not help.

The Canucks are gonna stick around and be a contender for a long time... this wasn't some miracle one time run for the cup. They'll be back next season.

Since i'm a Vancouver fan and long time resident, I feel the need to try and shed light on this situation and prevent any more obscure accusations. I do realize "Vancouver" can be generalized amongst all the suburbs, but I can guarantee that the majority of the rioters were not from the Vancouver/Downtown core. A true Vancouverite, on the evening of June 15th, would have been congratulating the Boston Bruins inside Rogers Arena, because we realize that this team still deserves an ovation after completing such a feat. A true Vancouverite would have put their body on the line to try and prevent looting against rioters. A true Vancouverite, along with 15,000 others, would have skipped out on work to try and amend the wreckage and aftermath from the early hours of the night.

And if I may say, a true Vancouverite would hold their head high, congratulate the Boston Bruins and all of their supporters in a mature way, and realize that we had a great run and still live in one of the most livable cities in the world.

People feel they can destroy the city of Vancouver because they don't that have to deal with the mess. They get back on the train and head to their lower class suburbs of Surrey and East Vancouver and rave about how they disgraced a city they don't even live in.

A true Vancouverite would know this, and not continue to post such arrogant comments like childish deliquents.

^ great post....that awesome that so many people went downtown today to help clean up...a lot of those destruction videos always seemed to have a few guys willing to standup to the crowd to defend their city, tons and tons of respect to those true vancouverites....i also heard a lot down here about those anarchists ruining shit up there so i think the real story is starting to trickle down

uhm when you beat the record for best save percentage by any goalie in the history of the playoffs.... I THINK YOU'RE CONSIDERED A FUCKING LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCK YEA BRUINS I'M GETTING DRUNK WITH YOU ON SATURDAY

that is all.

oh yea and this:

Best regular season save percentage ever: .938

An even better save percentage in the playoffs, also a record: .940

Record number of playoff season saves: 798

record number of saves in the play offs : 278 ( or something)

fuck off you lose. arguably one of the greatest playoff performances to date

This means a ton coming from someone who is probably NS's resident soft boy (who are you?). Yeah I was wrong about the riot, I'm clearly not as bothered as you are though.

actually you bother most people with your stupid posts, straight up people just don't like you, -- look at your karma, and your a NUCKS fann? your life sucks!

Not a Nucks fan. Can't be arsed if I bother people, or about my karma. You've made an alias to disguise your IQ of negative 9000 (re: this thread). Piss off.

excuse me, i meant embarrassed in game 7. they got shut-out on their home ice and virtually no one showed up to play.

and with regards to the rioting i'm sure vancouver fans had plenty to do with it.

wow. that poor guy was only trying to prevent his city from being destroyed and he gets mauled by his own kind.... so sad.

I thought Canada was a peaceful place? lol...

So I just watched this video and it looks like to me that the people rioting were CANUCKS fans. right? I'm not 100% sure though, it could be Black Block anarchist disguising themselves. I dont know why youre backing up these people that call themselves fans. you are a fucking idiot Frodo.

Props to all of the Canuck's fans that have not acted like complete jackasses.

Props to all of the Bruin's fans that have not acted like complete jackasses.

Both sides get a handicap. Bias is natural. Trolls & bandwagon d-bags aren't.

I know a bunch of you guys (JD, Caleb, & a the other true Van fans here within NS) really really really wanted it. So didn't we. Bottom line none of us were playing, the pro's were. I honestly didn't think the B's could go all the way. Needless to say I am more than impressed. We're (Boston fans) spoiled. No lie about it. Here's to you guys winning so long as it's not against us =)

The players on ice talents spoke.

/end any of my 2010/2011 NHL talk.

just because you have a jersey on doesnt make you a fan. once the nucks started doing well in the playoffs all of vancouver bought themselves a jersey. people were burning jerseys left and right following the game, a fan wouldnt burn their jersey, no matter how drunk they were. im not backing their actions, i have never once said i did, so i dont know how i'm a fucking idiot here. i just happened to be there and witness this shit first hand, and some if it was pretty fucking funny for sure.

thousands of people showed up this morning to clean the mess up, thats the real vancouver-rites there.

You guys deserved it, you wanted the cup and played for it. After game 3 Vancouver lost all momentum and looked flat and got their ass handed to them especially in game 7 of the Final. Congratulations.

However Vancouver has yet to be legitimized as a franchise, so to speak, by never having won a cup in their 41+ history.

Boston wanted the cup, Vancouver needed it.

i have a question, unless i've missed it, does anyone have links to the injury lists both teams were sporting in the finals? im curious, that shit always astounds me as to what these guys play through.

One of my friends in Boston called me last night to tell me she saw Lucic and Ference walking through the North End with the Stanley Cup in a baby stroller on the way to a rooftop party at Chara's house.

God I can't wait for work to end so I can get my ass out there!

haha all the pictures of them partying, bringing the cup to bars, are great. i think i'm heading into boston tonight. gonna try and go to the same bar as them but it'll be difficult. looked like a mob scene outside tias and stellas last night.
