Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

Way to make me eat my fuckin words flyers. Tough loss to Jersey this weekend, didn't get to see the game and I'm kinda glad.......probably would have broke my TV by throwing something at it anyway.

At least Chicago went well.

Seeya tomorrow habs.

ya eh, a break from the regular season games to make room for a game where there is no hitting or fighting and you could replace the defense with peewee players and it wouldnt make a difference, its kinda gay lol

and thanks boys, doesnt look like i'll be winning this popularity contest though

Flyers kickin some hab ass last night. Felt kinda cheap takin two from ya on the 3 on 5, but hey get subban under control and it might not have happened. Bob doin work once again, on track to be the greatest rookie goalie we've ever had.

Lovin our depth, threats from every line and defense to back em up.

Nabokov

I mean seriously, their are 30 starting NHL goaltenders IN THE WORLD, and he's going to act like a 10 year old? Wahhhhh I only want to play on a good team. Grow the fuck up.

He left the NHL, hasn't WON SHIT(epic 1st round burners), and now things he is going to call the shots on where he plays and bend NHL rules? Back to the KHL you fucking joke, where you belong.

In the end, Detroit(Holland) is smart as it gets. They knew he was either going to play for them, or not play in the NHL at all(off waivers). He had nothing to risk, and everything to gain(never having to play against him).

This whole topic gets me too heated, what would the NHL turn into if other players decided to ignore waiver rules?

Would we not get to watch star players for seasons because they got "suspended" until their contract is up? Horrible unfair balance of STACKED teams & really shitty teams(aka AHL)?

Discuss!!

I didn't want to give up when it was like 28- 14, but were sucking big dick now so were gone. Oh well at least we get an early draft pick. Oh wait...

Anyone wanna make bets on how things will end up? Division winners, standings, who makes playoffs who doesnt, cup winners, etc etc etc. I'm down for anything shoot me a PM

i was pumped to see the habs come out and play for the 2nd period and tie it up, hopefully we'll keep it goin in the 3rd, get the W and get another one tomoro against florida

as a lifelong sharks fan, I love nabby. He had the ability to completely take over games for us. At the same time, he had the ability to pull a Luongo and completely stink it up from time to time... but woe is the life of a top NHL goaltender. (also, first round burners? Not really. More like epic 2nd and 3rd round burners - like it matters)

THAT SAID.

The fact that he's pulling this shit is garbage. I know hes getting up there in age and wants to play for a competitive team so he can have his name up on a trophy, but if I was him, i'd stick it out for the rest of the season, prove he has everything it takes to be a top goaltender, and get a solid contract with a cup seeking club next year.

Also, as bad as they are, at least its the Islanders, and they have a fanbase.. Could be stuck in Phoenix or Florida...

I swear sometimes it looks like we have about three flyers on the ice. It was a nice shot though I'll give him that. Bob should have held up better in the first, CRAZY bounces off the boards down there in tampa bay too.

5 unanswered goals to comeback = Sharks omnomnom'd the shit out of the yotes in that last 20 mins.

the way they played... they should have had like 8 or 9 goals. SO many early chances that Bryzgalov turned away in that game. They just kept pounding and pounding until that last frame came around and then the slaughter was on. We just needed pavs to pound one home.

Orange County... YOU'RE NEXT...

beat OC tonight.

in my opinion, attendance doesnt exactly relate to fanbase.

Islander fans are far more passionate & knowledgeable about hockey. Also many of the fans have been watching for years(yep...even through all their shit).

I can not say the same for either Florida team.

Nothing was on TV, turned on the Ottawa-Detroit game for the 2nd period. Going okay, not exciting but not boring. 3-2 Ottawa and then 42 seconds later it's 4-4. wut

Brent Johnson just 1 punched Rick Dipietro

Dipietro took a high cheap shot on Cooke, our backup goalie fucking finished it.

ahhhhhhhhhh hahahahaha that was great, Dipietro was skating around like he was trying to find someone to fight, well guess what dumbass...the goalie is coming and your team mates cant do shit.

goalie vs goalie..old time fucking hockey...no more hiding behind your players you jackoff.

bout time someone put that prick Dipietro in his place!!!! back to the IR you joke!

tampa and florida are just side entertainment for the snowbird northerns that hit up florida all winter...its a joke. I just dont consider those types of "fans" as "real fanbases".

I relate fanbases to the knowledge of hockey, passion for the sport, being fans year in and year out.

I mean, if you have traveled(my most recent would be atlanta) to other arenas with less popular fanbases, you will see every single penalty announced(over the loud speaker) and everything explained in detail to the crowd(I have no problem with this, can relate new fans to the sport, which is always good for hockey as a whole).

Again, this does not happen in New York, regardless of how many tickets they sold or how shitty they are(because its understood that the fanbase knows hockey).

We can agree to disagree on this one :)

I am too pumped about our goalie fight from tonights game~~~!! or just gaining 2 points without crosby, malkin, & MAF.

hilarious. i ALMOST started to feel a bit bad for the isles and their fans. that's just embarassing.

regardless, pens are playing some gritty, gritty hockey right now without the superstars. i'm proud of them.

4 years of stanley cup winning back in the 80's definitely generated a fanbase on Long Island and beyond...

I see random Islanders fans smattered all around where I live and I dont know how they got there...

Meanwhile... have you ever heard of a Florida Panthers fan? Sounds like a myth to me.

ya tru i guess

and ya, its true that panthers fans dont exist, the only hockey fans in that area are old, retired habs fans lol

No way man! This should be a great game though. I have a bunch of friends who are Sharks fans and I can't wait to talk shit haha.

Haha. My roomie's a Whalers fan (yes they still exist, in Hartford..) and he's been talking sooo much shit with his friends from back home who are Boston fans, ever since I got him hooked on the sharks...

i tripped out when i realized he slid it around his left leg using the back of his stick, at first i thought he just did it like they usually do during penalty shots where they just drop it and push it back with their foot, but the way he did it takes some skill yo

but ya, the defence had eyes for nothing but the puck, which is a pretty stupid thing to do on a 1 on 1 situation like that

lol its as if he knew it was coming, he just gave up lol

and im going to the habs v leafs game next weekend, im fuckin pumped
