Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

ya it was pretty shitty up here for the past few days, but yesterday it got cold again, and all the melted ice that was chilling on top of the still solid ice refroze evenly and gave it a zamboni effect, its all smooth now, its sick

It's hilarious that Schneider is unbeaten in regulation halfway-ish through the season, the guys in front of him have bailed him out numerous times and yesterday was no exception. How the fuck you gonna FALL DOWN? Anyway good result largely thanks to Hank Dank and Burr. And our 4th line was good.

Haha Fuck you...

Enjoy your first win in San Jose in like 4 years! Bout time!

I dont mind being in 4th seed spot anyways.

baahaahaaha 4 years, we just knocked off detroit at home for the first time in like 20 years. Coming back east to hopefully kick some dirty jersey ass.

Also, flyers waived leighton, good riddance as far as I'm concerned. Boucher and Bob have been doing well enough, we don't need three.

glad to see lecavalier back tonight, he played well from the few bits that i saw, and i was pumped to see the st louis/lecavalier duo win the game

Just after Xmas, Canucks beat Philadelphia. Actually, massacred Philadelphia. Anyway, that was our first win against them in Vancouver since I think 1987.

My first trip into NSG, and i just wanted to say: Go Canucks!!!! I may be from the UK but I have seen a few live games ;)

Cool Story: Just picked up 5 days of television work at the Heritage Classic - Flames vs Oilers - February 16th-20. Gonna rake in that cash.

I don't follow hockey though, I watched that Pittsburg vs Washington game a couple days ago. I got into it, I watched it with a girl though, she knows a lot more than I do.

Ok so we're looking to get some bank play on passes and such through the middle and we're trying to figure out a way to make side boards. Again not for checking or anything just to stop the puck from going in the grass.

Options so far are making more wood stop shields like are in the pic already, but tacking them together so they make a low wall. Wondering if we could just use like 2 ft wide strips of plywood to insert longways into a chainsawed channel in the ice. Ice is about 6-8 inches thick right now.

Might go to a used sports store tonight again to pick up some goalie pads/helmet/glove/stick, don't really know just wanna take a look at what they got. Problem is I'd really rather not dump 200 bones or so.

Any other ideas about the sideboards?? We'd really rather not construct full size walls.

Right..

Flyers/Red Wings game was intense.. Thought for sure Detroit was going to get the 3rd one at the end.

I know that was a little nerve racking. Flyers devils tomorrow night. Might get in some pond hockey tonight. I should get a pic with all the lights set up.

yo, just build a bunch more of those lil barriers you have in the pic, put them side by side around the whole pond, then just put like sand bags or cinder blocks behind them so they dont move when the puck hits them

as for dropping a bunch of money on goalie equipment, play it again sports is probably your best bet. (dunno if it exists in the states?)

Pens have 4 goals in 7 minutes into the start of this game...i think its fair to say they are still slightly pissed about the WC!

Vancouver wins again, thats no surprise, but how many times this year as Van given up a goal in the final minute or two to ruin Luongo's shutout? gotta be at least 3 or something.

after watching world junior hockey

canada vs russia

canada vs sweden

canada vs russia final (saddest moment)

back to watching the habs :)

Yeah jersey tonight and philly on saturday.

I'll try and get a pic next time we're playing at night. In the pic above you can see a little grass on the far left. Just left of that grass is a barn with a low roof, we climb up there and put about 4 construction lights up, it's pretty badass with the lights up that high.

and bar down, definitely play it again sports, I'm already checking out a 35 dollar goalie helmet there. Problem is the used gloves were about 50, and the pad glove for the stick hand was about the same. Cheapest leg pads we could find were around 75 or so. Didn't even see a used goalie stick so I have no idea what that's gonna end up costing. I gotta get my skates sharpened again anyway so I'm gonna go check it out soon and at least pick up some goalie equipment.

Also we're on the hunt for a real metal goal, might even get one fabbed up by a local steel shop if it's cheaper. Ours is plastic and completely broken and taped, took a shot on it last night and hit the post.......the whole thing crumpled and fell to the side hahaha.

Let's go flyers.

should be a fun one. i was at the game last night when we throttled tampa. sitting right on the glass, row A. it was my Xmas present. i got on TV for kuntiz's hatty.

can't wait for tonight. go pens

true man, ya hockey equipment is pretty expensive, especially if you're a goalie.

and as for the metal goal, shouldnt be hard to find, i had one as a kid, so i think the biggest factor would be the price, it might be expensive.

im pumped cus last week we found a legit outdoor, regulation size rink with boards and nets and lights and everything close to my apartment, and anyone can go play for free! fuckin legit.

Most(if not all) indoor rinks should have multiple sets of goalie equipment FREE to use if you need for stick time, beer league game, any practices etc. Atleast in the US.

The shit might be old...but they should have all sizes..just ask the customer service or front desk or whatever it may be. It is probably in an old storage closet(no joke..thats how it is everywhere).

It happens OFTEN where someone needs a goalie. So often that the rink keeps this shit just for that situation. Your best bet would be a sticktime(open ice..with sticks and pucks).

Sure can beat forking up several hundred dollars!

last episode of 24/7 was pretty sick. the last few minutes really showed what hockey is all about and how it separates itself from other sports. If i had to choose between being in the NHL or pro skier, i would have to go nhl for sure.

great crosby and cooke are out even though cooke doesn't do that much. Now letestu is first line. If we i will be surprised

well i dunno bro, they showed a lot of success offensively last night against a good team considering crosby only got 1 point
