As i was watching the Man U, Inter game today, i could not help but to realize why the hell did they wait so damn long to put Rooney in? Man U had so mant chances to score, but would of had mroe if Rooney. Anyways that does not matter, Bayern Munich is playing tomorrow and they will take it this year, i can just feel it.

so yeah this is the 09 champions leage thread, lets hear what you all have to say about what is going on, anod who is rooting for who.

Actually i was shocked by lyon vs Barca. I'm also a barca fan, but even i thought it was hilarious. Arguably the best team in the world drew with Lyon? I actually wouldnt mind seeing barca lose out to them. I'm an arsenal fan first.

And the inter-man utd game i thought was kind of boring. Not nearly as intense or fast paced as you'd expect for those 2 teams.

Liverpool-Real Madrid is going to be great though. Same with Chelsea-Juventus.

Lots of good match ups this time around. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of the favorites out this round
 
No Tevez or Rooney certainly hurt Manchester United's scoring chances.

That being said, I'm sure there was a legit reason why he was rested. Man U has a serious schedule and he may have a slight injury.

Not that great of a game.

BUT, Arsenal won so I'm hyped. Should have been 3-0 but Eboue and Bendtner are terrible.

Lets go Juve and Liverpool tomorrow.

sometimes he drives me nuts, but he can score from nothing it seems. Watching him against chelsea at the end of november was great.

Although Barca tied at lyon its not a bad result as they got the away goal (not that it will matter when they go to Nou Camp). Lyon isn't chopped liver though. Any team that has the firepower of Juninho and Benzema has to be taken seriously.

holy shit did bayern lay a smackin on sporting today or what? 5-0 they wrecked them. i would say that Bayern is now set because they were away today so thats 7.5 points. so they just need to hold sporting off for 4 goals and they should be fine.

Chelsea had a good game today aswell, did not watch any of the other games but now im just counting down the days till the next match.
 
so i am from germany, love bayern since i have been a small child. great game after 4 worse games in the league. 5-0, what a debacle for lissabon.

theyre the the only team that really outscored the other, yessss

bayern has good chances, but i think they can be satisfied with reaching the semi-finals. the next years should be theirs.

 
as of now its been a bit closer than previous years ive noticed amongst the divisions.bayern is starting to pick it up tho and liverpool is performing of course

btw bendtner is an idiot.young cocky kid. he needs to go. he belongs in the brazilian league.
 
gonna be honest here.. I don't think Bayern are going to get to the final even with the 5-0 win.. they'll get past lisbon obviously but having seen them play a bunch in the bundesliga, they don't look like they have a shot. To be honest it looks like one of the four premiership clubs will take it. They all look like they are going through this round and if Barca go out, which i doubt, I can't see anyone else challenging. Bayern, Porto, Villareal, Atheletico Madrid, Kiev, Fenerbache, Panathinaikos etc.. Can't see any of them toppling ALL of Man Utd, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea..

LEG 1 APRIL 7TH,8TH

LEG 2 APRIL 14TH,15TH

alright lets here the predictions and who will make it to where. I am so happy to know now that bayern is playing barcelona, because the big bayern fan i am in my school my spanish teacher is from spain so he is a HUGE barcelona fan. there will be a shit load of tention between the both of us till these games are over. and now that chelsea is playing liverpool, chelsea will win against them and bayern will hopefully win against barcelona. my brother is a diehard chelsea fan so when they win and when bayern wins there is going to be so much tention in my house between us. this has got to be one of the best champions leage in a while. end rant/
 
ManU received pretty much a free shot at the finals. none of the 3 teams ManU will/could face should be very hard for them.

on the other side, chelsea, L'pool, bayern & barcelona??? wtf? i am a long time bayern fan. i hope they can get their stuff together in these two games and beat barca. i guess liverpool should be able to beat chelsea, but (as for all games from now), everyone can win this friggin cup (but with little chances for arsenal, porto and villareal of course).

bottom line: BAYERN! hope toni gets well soon and we should have no problem

actually i wouldn't write off Arsenal just yet. They have exactly the opposite of every other team. Everyone is losing players to injury, whereas Arsenal are doing nothing but gaining players who have been out for awhile. Hell, even rosicky is set to come back in the 2nd leg vs villareal, and most Arsenal fans don't even remember what he looks like in a jersey.

Bayern i think aren't gonna get past Barca (I happen to like both) Bayern lost Klose for up to 8 weeks, and Barcelona is just way too strong, they are essentially unstoppable right now.

Liverpool-chelsea is a good match up, though i wish they could both be eliminated since i hate them both. I'd say porto and villareal don't have much of a chance, but i wouldnt say it's impossible...

NS is pretty much the same thing, only worse. Everyone here claims they would die if they couldn't ski and they want to die skiing. You clearly know nothing about cults, because ns would be 10x more like a cult than soccer...

yea, inter put too much pressure on ibrahimovic. Though there were a few times when he should have definitely scored but somehow messed it up.

I think the gerrard-torres partnership is really what keeps liverpool in these things. I just don't see them getting past chelsea though. Hiddink doesn't fuck around. Liverpool may be able to win 1 leg, but not both, and not by enough to send them through.
 
it especially makes me wonder how they lost to tottenham 1-0. But then for that matter, how did man utd lose to fulham 2-0...I think maybe 1 more loss for Man utd and the title race is back on. It's a good season. Chelsea, liverpool, and maybe even arsenal with their recent form could possibly take it if they each had a good run and man utd fucked up a bit.

 
rangers vs celtic is crazy cause it's basically guaranteed that a riot will break out. It's probably the most violent derby anywhere.
 
well a tie between man u and porto. im sorry but man u played like shit the first half, and it paid off for porto. just cant wait till tomorrow, its going to be a war between barcelona and bayern. and yet chelsea and liverpool faceoff once more.
 
i clicked on the TV today and got Man U v. Aston Villa at 12pm on the east coast here. it was actually a hecka good game, a 17 year old in his premiere league debut scored the winning goal in stoppage, to put Man U on the top of the ranking. so sick.

I won't call this because it's going to be too close but I hope Chelsea destroy the scummy Scouse. I think Rafa has met his match in Guus Hiddink. Nice to see those Manc cunts bottle it too. Hopefully they lose in Portugal.
 
i didn't get to watch due to my own soccer practice, but i heard the arsenal-villareal game was brutal? Almunia and gallas off injured?

And even though i hate em both, i hope liverpool fucking destroy chelsea. I've got a bunch of friends here at school who love chelsea and are already claiming the trophy is theirs to lose and liverpool don't stand a chance, so i would love to see them basically guaranteed to lose out after the 1st leg
 
yea, to have ade and cesc coming back in at this time of the season is crucial. Arsenal has to come away with something this season, FA cup or CL. Preferably both. Or I hope everyone else bombs and arsenal takes the EPL
