So I feel the need to rant right now because my night was kind of ruined, scratch that just straight up ruined. Here we go,
It all started off at a friends house where we were doing some casual drinking deciding what to do for the night. We decide that we're gonna go over to a local soccer field and play a little soccer to pass the time. We got there and the lights aren't on so we start playing a little game of harmless street soccer in the parking lot. About 15-20 minutes later a cop shows up and asks us what we're doing so we just tell him that we're playing some soccer while deciding what to do for the night.
He then tells us that we're trespassing and tells us he can give us a $75 and asks if we have any alcohol with us. One of the girls we're with says yes and he asks to search our cars so we don't feel like getting held up so we open the trunks. In my friends car we had a case of 20 rickards in the trunk and he basically tells us that we either have to pour out all of our alcohol and leave or take the $75 dollar ticket.
My friend who is the forces questions the unlawfulness of the officers actions. The officer then proceeds to threaten to call up the MP's and have them come down and deal with my friend. Obviously we don't want to go through with all the trouble so we end up dumping the booze.
All in all, we end up saying fuck it and going back home ending the night short and we look up the laws for trespassing in ontario and it turns out he couldn't have even charged us, the guy was a total fucking dick. He could only have charged us if the area was marked no trespassing with a sign or if we chose to stay after he told us to leave.
If anyone happens to be in the Stittsville area of Ottawa and finds himself in the presence of Officer I. Kemp give him our regards and tell him he's a fucking big tough guy playing the whole I AM THE LAW bullshit on us.
