Offical Summer Set-up Thread!

i disagree. it is harder, but bye no means "so much harder" the first time i ever urbaned was in augest 05, after my first year of skiing. It was a 34ft down rail that i found no harder then anything i had hit in the winter previous. but i see wheere yoru comming from with "rusty edges" from not ridding for a few months

He was talking about a summer set up not urban. If you've never been on one you have no idea how hard they are.

^How do you anchor the PVC to the wood. I've just been drilling through the PVC into the wood and the holes cause my edges to catch.

If you havn't figured it out yet then you're an idiot. Take a screw and come up through the bottom. Its simple.

would wood chipps work on an inrun?

ya wood chips def work for a inrun but it fucks the bottem of ur skis... but if ur doin a summer deal u prb dont care..this whole part of my yard is all wood chips and when its wet after it rains it slides pretty good... also there is that carpet shit they putunder the lifts inthe winter to hold the snow in the liftline.. its like dentex u can snag alike a 3 by4 square andif u get a few of those they work good

theres an updated pic of me and snowcase's rollercoaster

damn. i wish i was around more this summer so i could build this shit. my dads good with projects like this so im sure it could be pulled off if i had the time.

Not to be a dick or anything but people should be smart enough to figure this out on their own. There are a ton of pictures, some people have even posted plans. It is not that hard. People also need to stop making new threads saying, " i want to make a summer set up someone tell me how" ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED? Everything you need is right here. As for prices things differ. Around here it could be alot different than where you live so ask someone near you not us. I only have a few things that piss me off and people who act retarded are one of them.

not really. the carpet we used is too slow. so we kinda had to setup on top of some saw horses and step on to the rail. (we propped one end up so it was a down rail) its kinda lame, but it works. were gunna make a better in run though hopefully with a better material.

yeah it needs to be higher. we have a bunch of scaffolding on the side of my house, but we cant find a way to make it stable and give us room to set up on top.

i dont do any of that in the summer. I just skate (inline). Its amazing for ur balance and its hella cool if ur good.

On the topic of drop-ins, such as the one pictured in the first post of this thread, my friend and I were thinking of building a similar drop in but with "rollers" (hopefully that makes sence and you can figure out what I mean). Does anyone know if such "rollers" are available to be bought, if so, where we could find some? We looked at Lowes, but they didn't seem to have what we were looking for. Also, we considered the use of pieces of a small-diameter pvc or conduit piping, not sure how well the skis will slide over that though. Any thoughts?

don't have a current pic, but this is it in winter

also thinking of building a couple down sections, and a 12 foot section that'd be a couple feet off the ground. then you could hook them together and mix n' match the rails to keep it fresh.

Sick rail, is that lexan on the top?

And someone mentioned that stuff they have under the snow when you're getting on lifts, that plasticy grid stuff. Anyone know where i could snag some of that?

I'm not sure exactly what it is, I got it from a guy who works at a plastic factory. I was pretty excited seeing as it was free, and I still have 22 feet of it left! When you cut it with a saw, it stinks like burning electronics, weird.

can anyone please give me a rough estimate of how high a drop in should be considering your sliding a 10 foot biox and using carpet. What would be the lowest you could have and have a good amount of speed?

5,6,7,8,9,10??

Trial and error my friend, trial and error. No one can tell you exactly. Just pick one and go with it. If its too short make it higher. If its too high make it shorter. My suggestion to you is make it tall then you can move the box away from it if you have too much speed.

in reply to rails getting sticky. i heard pvc can catch a edge in the summer and it gets soft and isnt that much fun. could i continuly wax/ oil my rail and will it not get sticky.

wat can i do not to make it sticky.

yeah man, wax it before every sesh, depending on what you use. we wax the pvc every session and it works fine.
