Offical Edit Critique Thread

Okay so I see a lot of threads on here looking for edit critiques. A good critique can be very helpful and everyone wants one but I would say people are much less willing to give one, thank they are to ask for one.

Rule: If you post and edit you critique the edit above yours in the thread.

Yes it relies on the honor system. But hopefully this thread/ system will ensure that more people get a good critique or two, and hopefully the thread will bring some more organization to the media and arts forum.

Thanks guys.

Someone start.

the content of the edit was great, biking was on point. however, I felt that your angles were really repetative and not that creative, you cut too abruptly between clips/angles of the same trick and focused too much on minor "tricks" like a turn rather than a shifty over a jump. overall i enjoyed it tho, and the edit had a good vibe. I look forward to seeing more stuff

my turn - honest critiques welcome and encouraged!

Thanks a bunch, I'm with ya on most of that. It was only the second time I have tried to make a serious knind of edit so I am still real trying to learn a lot. Thanks

On to yours, I like that first song a lot, kinda wish you had used it, haha, totally personal thing though, I can see the style you are going for and I think you did a decent job capturing it, honestly I don't personally like this style a lot but I know that it is popular and you did a fine job getting that vibe, I felt like a few shots were a bit out of focus and the color grading/exposure could have been a little more consistent but over all good job! I hope that helps.

You could have tightened up the whole edit, the first black gap was definitely a little longer than it needed to be, and there were a lot of shots where you could have cut closer to when the trick starts. rather than making the viewer wait for the skier to come into frame or for the skier to ski twenty yards into the feature.

also- watch the over exposure, its a tough one to overcome.

edit has some real potential man! keep it up!

The song was a little repetitive for me I liked the look of the titles with the lines and the font. I don't really dig that aspect ratio for most edits unless they have a really cinematic feel. Skiing was good and the shots were fairly smooth as well. Overall good job man!

This is an edit we made a while ago, which didn't get too many views or positive feedback. What would you change? Skiing, music, filming? Just curious to hear what people think.

Yeah I liked that edit, I think sometimes things just don't get views for whatever reason. I would say though that between the midway point and 2/3 through of the edit I got a little board. Could of put some interesting filler esq shots there to kind of sure it up for me. Other wise I liked it, skiing was great, intro was really well done in my opinion. Could of had some more jumps shots maybe, but I don't really think that was a problem necessarily. I also liked the sock animals at the end, that was funny.

Btw, how did you do the animations in the intro?
