Offical 08-09 Big Mountain Thread.

Last two days have been epic. I cannot believe how much snow we got in such a short amount of time.

First tracks of the year down hellroaring was so damn sick yesterday. I guess Hellroaring was closed all day today, avy danger is bad Im sure. Jumphill was rad today. There is one rail in the park thats kinda fun, just a flat one and then that little barrel jib at the end can be fun too

Rail jam was nuts. Simply nuts. So many people throwing down really really hard.

Judging was very very wack. Results as the judges gave them:

1. Billy Marcial

2. David Steele

3. Danner Pickering

And what I would have given:

1. Alex Adams - pretzels, 450 on, switchups on the down and shark fin, some 270 variations on the flat down, and a HUGE and stomped 270 disaster 270 out on the flat down, I don't think any other skier 270 disastered it. I have come to the conclusion that Alex is a ghost, because how the judges could have missed this stuff is ridiculous. He had a bright orange hat on for gods sake!

2. Billy Marcial - typical Billy antics, interesting hand drag on the shark fin, sw 270 disaster, 270s on the down rail, balls to the wall.

3. Danner. Sw 270s on to pretzel fs switchup on the flat down, and lots of other combos.

4. Billy Biolo - Can't remember much aside from an extremely epic 450 disaster on the flat down box, completely stomped. Did I mention he was injured too?

Yea I thought Alex should have won too, at least should have placed if nothing else. Typical bullshit judging......

Rail jam was a blast though, alot better setup than last year. I wish they would get a round bar rail though instead of flat bars for once.

Biollos 450 on was super sick too

Sick edit put together by Spirit. Yea mostly snowboarders, but still sick. Alot of the good skier tricks are not in this edit

Devor I dont know what you did but that is seriously bad ass. Its like one of those pictures that goes on forever. I am posting this inside the window btw. I dont know what will happen...

I just want to let you all know that Dave spent several days last season abusing boxes at a small friendly resort at Mt. Hood in Oregon called Ski Bowl.

He did unspeakable things such as body slides, one ski grinds and ski pole twirls.

Please help stop his tomfoolery.

We clearly haven't skied together enough, otherwise you would understand that the tomfoolery never stops. Ever.

Some photos from today:

The lip wasn't strong enough to handle the legend that is Alex Adams. In the second picture, you can see that he is actually appearing out of the powder.

Blake sends a nice rock at the bottom of Evans. Solid grab, nice steeze, straight into his bomb hole.

And then, it was amateur hour.

hey big mtn, so heres the deal, i am from MN and skiing at big until thursday, if anybody wants to show me around a little or chill or whatnot i would appreciate it big time, out here with my family and they are real boring to ski with... been off on my own trying to find shit, if anybody is interested pm me for a number.

If anybody rides tomorrow, you should update on the snow conditions and let me know if the snow has gotten heavy from the warm weather moving through. Thinking about coming up on thursday

Rail jam tomorrow (Thursday night) at my house; I live just outside of whitefish. Let me know if you are interested. The setup is an urban down rail and an up-down-up-down rail, lights and music included.

No joke. I think we are lucky you got out alive from those pits over on radio towers, I think with all the ice buildup today there were a couple of small glaciers forming on the backside of the t-bar.

Tomorrow could be sort of sucky.

I talked to park crew today, and they should have the jumpline up and good to go on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Should be small, but better than the 10ft joke that currently exists.

word.

Speaking of our park.....it could be ALOT better. I will never understand why they only setup like a few of the jibs that they have and it takes them months to build more than one jump. With the amount of jibs sitting on the side of the run, our park should be jibs galore....

Who the hell breaks their thumb on a tree?!!

Anyways, I'll be skiing vicariously through you guys, cause I had to get surgery and the won't give me a hard cast for 2 weeks. so let me know what's happenin up there.

from the fishbowl update................There are 2 new jumps in the Central Park, one is a 25 footer while the

other is a bit longer reaching 35 feet, these jumps have long landings

so you really able to push yourself. Both these jumps are in prime

condition with the Fishbowl Terrain Park crew always keeping their eyes

on the features. Jibs, jibs and more jibs; there is going to be a whole

new jib line in Central as well. We are getting ready to bring out the

SharkFinn, that premiered at the Rocking New Years Eve Rail Jam. The

Fishbowl Terrain Park as a lot of features, but we are still not done

adding to it. In the near future there will more jumps and jibs. If you

have any suggestions ,comments or want give the crew a high five, stop

by the Fishbowl and let us Know whats up...........so stoked for friday night

Ya the new jumps are actually pretty sick. The snow was like spring snow today, it was fun. I think the park crew was starting to move rails/boxes and getting ready to setup more shit later in the day, so hopefully I see more jibs tomorrow or saturday

The jumps are actually pretty sick, they aren't huge by any means but good for big mtn standards. There are more jibs setup now too which is cool.

Fuck has anyone hit Waterfall/Elevators on NOrth Bowl/Moementum lately? So fuggging sick, perfect flowy rollers

what would you say is big mtn standards? last year i would safely say that they had the biggest/most fun table in mt

Alright, park crew has been blowing alot of snow lately with the cold weather. It looks like they may be adding features where the halfpipe was and maybe adding a jump hopefully by this weekend. If anybody talks to them, tell them to set it up quickly please.:)

Park is pretty fun, its been a bit icy though. This is what the park is right now; Two 30-35 ft tables one after the other. Then, You can then either hit the flat double barrel rail (which is sick) or the Pill Jib. Then you can either hit the flat down box or the flat down flatbar rail. Then its a flat box or the shark fin rail (which is not that great) and then a long down flatbar rail (which I think is sketchy).

Mountain has been pretty icy but I hear its starting to snow up there now so that's good.

it says on the website on the latest blog entry that they are blowing a bunch of snow trying to get the hips up and that they are building a STEP-UP!!!!

Latest Fishbowl Blog Entry

* 23 Jan 2009 15:53

The Fishbowl has been getting hooked up. There are four guns pumping snow on the hips and the big step-up, so up here at Whitefish Mountain Resort we are trying to have are courage ready by the time the big jumps are complete. A little lower through the park we have set up a long 40 foot flat down rail, that’s super fun. In the depot we are even rocking a 20 foot spine for everyone to have a good time on. To get a little more jibby in the Depot we also set up our turtle box (rainbow box).
