The skiing footage itself in this movie was pretty unimpressive, too much powder and big mountain bull shit that everyone has seen a million times. Anything new school shown (handicapped people don't count) was either forgettable or already featured in "Ski Porn!". And don't even get me started about the lame-ass soundtrack. Warren Miller, or whoever directs this vomit nowadays, that shit was horrendous. Get your ass "Off the Grid" and huck a ninety story building without a parachute. Then you will experience the pain that audiences felt around North America after paying to watch your bloated piece of shit.
 
i don't care what you say about any of warren's movies, there is no denying that he started ski movies and is the master of them. however, he makes his movies for general audiences and skiers in general, not just newschoolers. so keep that in mind when you watch his stuff.

exactly. i still thought the newschooler scene was a little rediculous. i mean how many times do i need to see a 1440 from TJ? everything was fast spinning, warren didn't show much style.
 
fuck you. warren miller was THE innovator of ski movies. they wouldn't be close to where they are now if he hadn't started them. just because his movies don't have 90 percent park skiing doesn't mean they're not good. you can't criticize a warren miler for not having new school skiing. what you did was comparable to going to a porno movie and complaining that you saw a naked chick. you weren't forced to watch it, and before you did you should know what the movie is like.

warren miller flicks arent about newschool progression, ur lucky they feature any in it at all

so shut the fuck up, and keep in mind that this is quality skiing, if u dont wanna see people ski parts of the world that have never been skied before, or impressive backcountry lines then spend ur money on somethin else and quite ur wining u fuckin bitch
 
Warren Miller target a different audience the the likes of Poor Boyz or Level 1. Warren miller films are for people who enjoy plain old recreational skiing - people who are easily impressed. Since they are more like documentary's they really only put the the newschool stuff in to let the rest of the ski world know what's happening, and how the sport is progressing and stuff.

So to sum it up, if you are a big mtn rider go see a MSP film.

If you ride park - watch poor boys or something

If you have a pair of cross max 10's go see off the grid.
 
True. It was a very long and boring movie. I liked the Japanese snowball fight tournament thing. That was pretty cool.
 
hahahaha, OUCH i just paid 10 bucks for a ticket to a view of it at a local theatre so i hopes its not that bad!

just a little upset that they're all better skiers than you? all the better for those of us that can ski, the less park rat hacks that leave the park, the more pow for the rest of us!!

 
Personally I thought it was boring. Does this make the movie bad? I think not. He makes the movies for older people, the poeple who think park riders are hooligans. He is pretty much the only filmaker providing for this demographic. like i said, I thought it was boring. I was sitting next to kid who probably had never skiied in his life, and he thought it was the coolest thing known to man. Let him do his thing.
 
skiing is skiing. if you don't like it that's fine, but don't start slaging on the filmmakers. especially legends like Warren Miller. they've got their own style just like the rest of us.
 
Yeah, damn those stupid big mountain and powder skiers! Who in their right mind would want to do that anyway?

But seriously, don't even bother typing up and unintelligent biased opinion like that. Your time is better spent making threads about what outfit you should wear in the terrain park or writing homosexual references about people's pictures. Just because the movie doesn't cater to your insanely narrow image of what you think is skiing doesn't mean it's a bad movie, it means you're a park rat. I'd suggest you go buy some XXL pants, crawl into them, and hide for the remainder of the season.
 
naw, all u's that r supporting miller are werid. Warren makes the same type of film every year, voice-overs, pow skiing, meant for old people who only ski like ten days a year. That's true. but he do it every single year and never switches it up. a good movie like that would be like immersion, which had like zero park, but actually showed goo skiing. Miller is played out, but after watching off the grind, i will never watch another movie by him ever again. besides, what kind of image is that type of movie giving the rest of the world??? any snowboarder would laugh and call the general movie gay. To help the image of skiing, and change it from an old rich peoples sport into something new, cool, and progressive, Warren Miller needs to stop.
 
i don't think it was completly horrible, but i just didn't think it was that great. i don't really understand what made it so bad, it just didn't flow and lagged on. all the big mountain was sick tho, definatley sick shots.
 
last years movie was an advertisement... but off the grid wasnt at all. off the grid was so fuckin ill and it got me so amped for skiing. the audio in that movie is amazing and the editing is fucking genious. it put most ski movies to shame and its whack the the newschoolers are hating on the inovator
 
are you kidding me?!? i thought it was sick. agreed the soundtrack was pretty lame, but other than that it was great. And about the footage being featured in Ski Porn, that was warren miller's footage to begin with. If you watch the credits in Ski Porn it says "thanks to the warren miller crew and their contributions" - Ski Porn just came out first.

Well, it wasnt too bad.

It DID have waaay too much big mountain skiing and not nearly enough park&pipe

but i still wouldnt consider it a terrible movie
 
I'm going to be redundant and make the point that's been made numerous times already: Warren Miller doesn't make park movies. I know it's really obvious, but a lot of people still don't get it. Don't complain about something it's not supposed to have.
 
so much hate for Warren Miller? his movies are not suppost to be the newschool kind of shit, they are about the skiing lifestyle and how much fun people have when skiing. and its not too cool to diss on handicaped people.
 
ya man wm doesn't make park/newschool movies. he did incorporate some for all of us to enjoy, but as said it's all about the lifestyle
 
ok so i went to it last night and i was pretty disapointed way to much mig mountain and back country but the chinesse snowball fight was halairious!!
 
its warren miller. same fucking shit every year. get over it. plus all their freestyle stuff is bought from different companies like pbp. besides, for 20 bucks i got $130 worth of ski tickets. one to copper and one to winter park.
