Off Mountain training

Hey, I need a way to practice tricks off mountain, in my backyard or in my house. PVC setup is not an option unfortunately, so if there are any other ideas anyone has thatd be sick.

that some upstairs neighbour kinda training i aint lookin for that

I say go for it I'm sure they'll completely understand it's for a good cause haha. In all serious though get access to a tramp.

Go cliff jumping, go to a pool, flip off your deck, or just get a tramp.

Also pick up skating or something like that, it’ll just help

im doing tramp with some friends this spring, any other options you know of? sorta something i could do after school nice and easy. I get that my options are really specific tho sry. Thanks

I got my tramp on Craiglist for like 50 bucks. I found the spinning and grabbing definitely translated to snow better than the flipping but that’s just me. Like frontflips n backflips don’t exactly feel the same off a kicker since ur going out and not straight up.. but definitely a safe place to get your feet wet with the motions.. I’ve heard aggressive inline also helps. Overall there’s no better way to train ski tricks than on skis.

and GYM. Go see a PT and have your program made with a focus for skiing. Hit the gym hard in the off-season & be amazed in the first lap of the next season on how large impact it has on your skiing.

trampoline for air awareness, skateboarding for jib training.

If you get hurt doing this, you will probably get made fun of, forever, and you wont be left alone at home anymore...

Set up your hardwood coffee table , next to your couch....on an angle!

you following? put on some nice slippy socks....

stand on the opposite arm rest, jump, bounce, gap over opposite arm rest (270) , land and slide down table.

this is 10/10 legit, trained for the world ski invitational, showed up to a gap to down rail....

That sounds interesting.

Maybe when no one’s home I’ll give it a shot, or build some rickety permanent solution to that if I really have a lot of time on my hands. Thanks for the help tho

Alr I may try. Been thinking abt getting some old roller blades this summer for cheap and was wondering if there’s a specific type or anything but I gues this answers that

Buy the two wheel roller blades and get really good at the skatepark

Get a ticket to space and get good in some Zero-G

i realized if i use a bike jump i built (covered in astroturf that i plan to go around my neighbourhood asking for) as a roll in kinda thing to get speed, and then just throw a PVC or rail at the bottom i got an easy solution to having to hill in my yard.

Yeah theyre like aggressive inline blades or something

where can I get a pvc pipe? also what can i use instead of turf in case i cant get it

use m snow and you can just steal a green pvc pipe from a construction site. if you get caught just say its in protest of the government or smt

alr got a lil delayed update. My friend and i searched across toronto for a pvc without paying, found a 4 foot one to use as a jib bar, brought it home, dad got mad, drilled some wood we found after a 2 hour bike ride to behind a hardware store, now i can use it with my skis. Just hop on and off and do whatever tricks i want, without a roll in needed. idk why people spend so much money on a roll in when just using a jib bar works fine. im stoked on it and its going great so far

Skateboarding, fruit booting, biking - bmx, downhill, cross country mtb or even just cycling.

it all helps - even with a non “tricking” sport like cycling helps with flow state, balance, strength, etc. also yoga, calisthenics, general core & strength training.

if you can find a gymnastics gym in your area with an open gym time for a reasonable price you can get a workout in on the bars and also practice tricks on fly bed tramps, foam pits, and spring floor.

alright now my friend and I found a hockey rink by our houses that we are going to keep PVCs behind in the woods, then when we want to use them we just bring them out in front of the pile of snow in the back and shred. were starting by just accumulating some more pipes.

Gym made a huge difference is skiing for me too. I always used to tramp as a kid and it never really translated to skiing skill, more for mental reasons though just being too scared to throw tramp tricks on skis. But yeah so I took like 2 years off skiing when I was 16/17 and started hitting the gym hard doing a lot of crossfit and playing sports daily. When I got back on skis I just felt like I had the muscle to control my body and skis so much easier. Doesn't help too much with learning new motions but all the tricks I used to know I got on lock.

What you're looking for is "aggressive inline" skates. They're basically redesigned from the ground up for grinding and slides. Look for a shop near you, and see what fits you well!

lowkey pricey tho.

Slackline is easy to do at home. Hop around and do swaps and spins off. Play a game of S.L.A.C.K w/ your buds. Its not as good as a pvc setup but it definitely helps.

Pricey compared to what? Yes the skates cost 200-400usd but that's still dirt cheap compared to skiing or virtually any sport.

Blading, for me at least, is the perfect substitute for skiing. Similar enough to carry the same vibe and basics of tricks and different enough to be a proper counter weight.

I second cliff jumping and just swimming in general so good in the hot weather and some of the best cardio you can give your body. Also the gym is your friend will get rid of your shaky legs for next season

alr i have only checked new models so i may check used as well. Once I can save up a little more money it would be a good idea except the fact I will outgrow them in a year or two max.
