Off balance

Can new skis put you off balance in the air? i was riding 161 1080, now i'm on 170 msps, and the msps are sooo huge compared to the 10s. once i put them on and when i would spin i'm eating shit on everything, no matter how big or small, 3 or 5 or whatever, i fall to the opposite side that i spin to. could it be my new skis?

and oh yeah, how do you get rid of severe shin bang? like i've got it now, and every time i put my boots on even for just a short day of skiing around i get it bad

same thing with me i went from 161 10's to 171 10's, it just felt weird, still does some times......just ride them for a while and get used to the feeling...its what im doing

skogenjake: i got owned hardcore. i though he was a real little cunt

they're about 3 or 4 cm taller than me, and these are alot bigger, i love riding them, but they put me off balance in my spins i think

I had 170 atomic race skis last year spinnin was real hard on them this year I got my first twins ar5s and I can spin much better. just go off the same jump like 10 times and just get more and more air do simple grabs just get used to being in the air with your new skis it helps.

yeah you have to get used by them. i dunno but could it be that you feel like your rotation is more laboured? sorry if you dont understand im a bad english man. i mean as if you star rotating and you feel like theres something disturbing the rotation?

i've been skiing on them for like 6 days now, and i do spins alot, i keep going going for it and every day its the same thing, i spin to the left but fall on my right side, and these icy landings suck.

do you have center mounted bindings?

that might be the 'problem'. in my opinion they spin way easier if the bindings are more forward and you arent used to the feeling of the spin now thats all. just get comfortable on the new pair. that will do i think

i went from 164 to 177 and got used to it in like half an hour

Maybe its the width or weighting of the skis?

let that sink in for a minute

they are a totally different ski, 1080s have foam core, these have wood, they're heavier, wider, and bigger. i love them for riding, but for spinning i've been really off balance lately.

but seriously, if its not the skis could i be all of a sudden doing something wrong?

yeah, I went from 142 (I was a loser) to 165s and i didn't notice a difference. try landing with a wider stance, and do some 180s and then work 360s, it is probably the last 180 degrees you're going off, so just do a hard 180, then let the last 180 float around. You also may be landing far on your tails, which aern't really supportive and maybe your skis slip out from under you because of that. I would have to see you to fully get it.

well its mostly just on the bigger tables, i'm trying them on some big 20s and stuff, and the lips give you pretty huge air, you're porlly close to 10 feet up there on the one that i've been doing. i've been trying to make them slower and kinda tuck up on it, but i've been wrecking, my friend says my tips start to point down

it might be because you are going really fast to the jump, so your body wants to set the spin really hard, but try to calm it down when thowing your arms around, you need almost no wind up for a 3 over a 20 footer.

you will get use to them

and with the shin things there is not point in even trying to fix them just stay off them for a week

that falling on your right and spinning left happend to me. It was because i kept looking at the ground when i was spinning. if you look level that might help.

make sure you mount em so they feel like your old ones, say if you old skis felt heavier in the front, mount your skis a lil back, you know

the whistle tips go WO WOO!

well i went from fag boards to 171 skis...so about an 80cm diff...i jump with both..there was no difference..i felt more comfortable in teh air with the skis but thats just me

eAsT CoAsT

maybe it is the looking down, it feels like once i get to 90, i start to feel really really out of control, and i think well, i'm fucked, and i just kinda take it and wreck to te side

you just gotta get used to the swing weight of your new skis. just try a lot of 180's first until you get really comforatble. if you fall to the right that means your most likely overrotating, so make sure you spot your landing and keep your tips straight when you land.

just ride them for a while. longer skis are better for landing though, more stable, so i dont really understand why you're having that problem.

'this is just like sex, only im having it!'

make sure you're popping off the lip. if you don't, it sets you corked which might be why you're falling all sideways and getting lost in the air.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

I went from 161's 10's to 175 Pocketrockets. I can't even tell a difference. 10cm is like 4 inches (spready evenly throughout the ski) I don't think it should matter. Maybe just the fact that the skis are different brands with pops, weights and feels that is fuckign with you

We pay our debt sometimes.

yeah, i'm having the same problem sometimes with 3's. i figured out that, for the most part, i was looking at the ground once i hit 180, and going corked, then falling. keep your head level.

thats odd, longer skis keep me more balanced in the air...
