I am in full support of the occupy movements and everything it stands for. The rich take advantage of the poor in order to get richer and that's always just been the way it is. But through the birth of the Internet, all this unaccessible information is now available to the public and we are free to discuss our opinions as well as educate each other. Now all these rich bitches are goin " what the fuck" because the people that have actually taken the time to realistically question authority know that even though we live in a democracy things haven't changed a bit in the past 400 years concerning who leads and rules the world. With that said, my point is that although everybody participating in the occupy movements have legit valid points and arguments to bring forth, there is absolutely no organization whatsoever between the different groups. Basically, these people need to get their shit together if they hope to accomplish anything. Everybody from different regions need to appoint a group of incorruptible leaders to represent their views. Then they these different groups should come together with 3 or 4 main points that require change in our society and persist until these are expressed in a political environment and change occurs. Without this organization, these people are just seen as a bunch of nameless nobody's who just want to complain and have no power to make change. WHAT ARE YOUR TOUGHTS NS???

I did not read the thread title but when I see occupy I want to share my thoughts. I am kind of in between on the whole situation because while I do think it is ridiculous that some people are super rich while others are extremely poor, I find it unfair that people who work harder(for example a doctor) should be taxed unfairly just because they work harder than others. The rich should not be taxed more, the poor should be taxed less.

Yes I agree, I am also concerned by how the rich use the poor to continuously stimulate their wealth. People of our society think they need an expensive house, a nice car, Xbox, big screen tv etc in order to be successful and this feeds the corporations every day. Idiots everywhere are convinced to buy a bunch of shit they don't need while I can be perfectly content living in a shack in the woods chillin with ma homies for the rest of my life, only material possession I would bring are my shred stix. Children are being brainwashed since birth and people aren't being made aware because these facts are hidden from us by the media and the government
 
I think it's capitalism, there has to be rich and poor people. If you don't like it, move. Also, I think the window where the occupy protesters were in the spotlight and had the chance to show real demands and goals has passed and now it will be very hard for them to accomplish anything.
 
the poor cant just expect the rich to be generous towards them. shit the poor arent even generous towards each other. the rich become rich by taking advantage of people, the poor make more money, and become successful by taking advantage of people. its human nature to put your own well being above others. the poor do it just as much as the rich. what keeps the rich, or anyone for that matter from taking advantage of someone else too much? when their taking advantage of people has a negative effect towards themselves.. and really thats the peoples, or the "poors" responsibility to make sure that those negative effects happen.

its why the government is not a government of the people anymore, its a government run by "professional politicians" and big companies instead of the people. government has always been the enemy to some extent, big government hasnt and never will be a good thing. and its our fault for taking power away from the people and giving it to the government, and now we expect the government to do whats in our best interest... which does not happen.

really we have given these big companies power, and given the government the ability to basically fuck our country up, and basically cater more to big business than to the people.

anyway, we need to realize we fucked up, and do something about it. unfortunately i think if the government/ wall street said "ok occupiers, what do you want? we will do it" they would most likely do much more harm than good. nobody seems to be able to agree on the purpose of the protests, so the image it gives is that everyone is just a bunch of lazy self entitled, bitchy hippies. which isnt too far off for a good portion of them.

are you sure this definition of human nature isn't just a consequence of the society we've built? perhaps if peoples' values change, the definition of 'human nature' will change too...
 
yup im sure.. yes we may put families and friends above our own well being in many cases, and are willing to help people out when they need it, but for the most part, we put ourselves above someone we dont even know. its not because of the evil greedy society we built, thats how it always has been. theres nothing really wrong with that either, its basically a survival instinct. and thats how it should work. it only makes sense that you should care for yourself more than anyone else. i dont see whats wrong with that.

all these hippies bitching about the greedy rich wouldnt do shit either to help someone they didnt know. the rich just do it on a larger scale.

the OP was saying the rich sell the poor big TV's expensive cars etc.. well thats 100% the poor mans fault. the only reason the rich get richer by selling you this shit is because you buy it. its common fucking sense for them to do it. theres a demand for it, people are willing to pay. so why not get rich off it? supply and demand is what makes the economy work. its not evil.

and OP nothing is wrong with wanting a big house and a nice car. not everyone wants to go live in the woods their homies.

 
^^ but there issomething wrong with a big house and a nice car because everyone is brainwashed to feel the need to get these things to feel accomplished. These things go far beyond our basic needs and the more people succumb to it, themore nobody cares about us destroying our plannet. Thin about how much energy you would use with a huge house, as well as how much gas you would blow in your nice new suv. Even though people using each other to advance is acceptable and very human in my view, its gone to the point where people are being used so much we are destroying each other and the beautifull world we live in. Fuck suply and demand, because of it, our forests that procure us with life, oxygen, are being chopped down to supply our silly demands
 
i did read it and hes right people in here arguing either side are dumb hes just saying they need to get their shit together and express themselves in an organized traditional manner instead of acting silly on the streets
they should create some sort of political party and see if people vote for them
 
I'm a 1% so I'm not super following it....

but the occupy movement here is taking up my favourite park by my apartment and yeah... they have good goals and shit buuuut the execution is messy.
 
its not because people are "brainwashed" that they want more. its greed, which everyone has, greed is a part of human nature, and an important part of human nature. yes ill agree our culture does glorify a big house and big tv's, but you give someone the ability to have these things then why wouldnt they want them?

there is nothing wrong with wanting more. Hell im more like you, i would rather live in a cabin in the middle of the woods for most of my life. but thats just me, and thats because it fits with my interests. but i am all about cars, i would have to have like 4 cars, some atv's, motorcycles, a buggy, go karts, and a bunch of guns to accompany my shack in the woods. then id be set.

but i understand people have different lifestyle choices, some people dont like the idea of living off the land, and not being around people all the time. some people need the nicest biggest most expensive things to be happy. i need motorized things. you need your shred sticks, not everyone can just be happy with shred sticks.
 
Dude your outlook on the world is so conspiratorial and convoluted.. Just because you have a lower standard of acceptable living than most people does not mean the world is brainwashed and your enlightened how old are you??

And who ever said that self preservation is a consequence of our societies lifestyle is a fucking square are you telling me cave men didn't put their well being before strangers. There is nothing wrong with looking out for you and yours first and foremost.

Occupy movement has been an utter failure and isn't going to accomplish 1 single thing it's just a bunch of overgrown babies with their hands out who have been coddled by living in the western world since birth and don't have a preception of what it really means to be oppressed. Grow up and occupy a job.
 
Or you can all stop whining like little women and get jobs instead of ruining parks, and whos gonna have to pay for it.......you guyssss ahahahaha idiots go get raped in a 30 degree tent
