OCCUPY OCCUPY WALL STREET!

Well it's gonna be like that for most people. Face it. Most companies would rather hire someone with years of experience over some 20 year old who has almost no work experience. Odds are the older fellow has a family that he knows he has to feed and he will do anything and everything possible to make sure he can fill that demand. Compare this to most teenagers or college students. They don't have people relying on them and are generally less motivated than people who have others relying on them.

Theres a ladder and you have to start at the bottom usually. That's how capitalism works buddy and most of these hippie protestors don't want to start at the bottom.

Why not? What exactly makes you entitled to a enjoyable, well-paying job when you have little work experience, and no USABLE skills acquired in college/university/the workplace. This generation has the biggest sense of entitlement the world has ever seen and its so dumb. You have to work your way up to get a high paying job. I used to work at a farm for 5$ an hour. I worked my ass off and learned how to work hard, and then I got a job roofing for 11.25. Its hot, its hard, and it sucks but I stuck with it and now I am making 13$ an hour, which is pretty decent for college summer job IMO.You have to work you way up in life dude stuff just isn't going to get handed to you. /rant

This^^^

But all of these hippies feel entitled to well paying jobs to pay off their student loan debt they've accumulated. When you take out a student loan you know that you're gonna have to pay it back. Stop bitching because you pursued a shitty degree and are now in debt that you can't pay back. You knew that this could happen when you took out those loans in the first place!

So, you attack the people that have NOTHING to do with how the system is set up just trying to work a 8-5 type job to feed themselves and their families? Yeah, great logic. And you asshats wonder why so many people think 3/4s of this movement is made up of fucking morons.

hey once again, calm down. I meant the occupy occupy wall street people aren't serious.

I agree with a lot of what the people at OWS have to say and think. Unfortunately, I have a very hard time sympathizing with them because they all act like idiots.

Chill out man. I'm not attacking anybody. Attack is such a hostile word. This is a peaceful protest. Everyone in this thread needs to calm down.

This - it's like this when you get your first real job too, out of school/college.

You have to stick at it for the first 5/10 years and it's not always that easy or great. You'll be paid a reasonable living if you get a good grad job etc, but once you get past the 10 yr experience level is when you have the greatest appeal to employers (even 5 yrs is good).

I'm just approaching 10 yrs experience now and that's when the real coin starts to roll... and when the real demand for your skills begins.

But you also realize why when you get to this level of experience - you're ability and confidence, and pure knowledge is so much more than when you are fresh out of school - you really don't start learning the real skills until you start working.

But this is no justification for why there may be limited opportunities for young folks or grads etc...I do't know the answer to that, but getting the start is definately one of the hardest hurdles. Once you've achieved that - it's up to you to work at it. Not gonna lie - it's not easy....

I'm not even gonna get into this, but I do have one thing to say.If you're of legal voting age, and you chose not to vote, then keep your bitching to a minimum about these kinds of issues and the way the country is being run.

Word. It's def a bitch.

Seems almost impossible to get a job that has some sort of solid increase for working there longer. A lot of times all you can get is a one track job that goes nowhere. I guess it's something, just sucks you know

The protest is pretty pointless. These people think they have it all figured out and they dont. They are all freeloaders who want more government handouts. They dont even have requests!!!! What is a protest without a request on how to fix what is "wrong". Plus the rich shouldnt have to give their money or pay more for things like taxes. They got of their asses and made money why should they ever support the people that they arent responsible for.

THE TEA PARTY IS LEGITIMATE! THOSE CRAZIES ARE JUST A FEW OF THEM, MOST ARE GREAT PROTESTORS.

few months later

LOOK AT THIS IDIOT WHO I HAVE DECIDED EXEMPLIFIES AN ENTIRE MOVEMENT.

Americas inability to debate actual issues, and instead just portray the opposition as crazy is infuriating. No wonder this country is a wreck, people would rather make fun of the other side than listen to them.

Theres soldiers, out in the heat, away from home. They also won't be returning home for along time, and they have bullets being fired at them bombs being blown up around them. Some of their friends will never make it home, and some of them will never make it home. Now thats fucking dangerous.

And in the cold, really? I googled up a temperature, and its 8C out there right now. That's not even close to being "Cold" Some people are sooooo narrow minded.

8 celcius isn't even close to winter.... I could live outside in that shit for fucking years. Have you ever experienced a Canadian Prairie -40 day? Have you ever had a bud hit a ditch on one of those days? Have you ever spent a couple of hours digging that buddy out?

Like I said, narrow minded......

I wish I knew this TheAbortionator before replying to anything you said.

Damn you name change! I am pretty sure you are just fucking with people now.

Not to mention if they even make it home, they may have to deal with the guilt of killing people for the rest of their lives.

I also think its kind of funny how OWS protesters think they know how to run America, yet their own little street camp is a shit show. Ironic.

Dude yeah. No one should criticize America unless they are qualified to be president. After all, what has protesting (by anyone) ever gotten this nation?

Nobody said they were gonna run America. Besides you have to be elected to run things. They just know that there are problems and want to change things and stuff. We need to unite or else we can never get changes in action instead of just in thinking.

Hopefully they will succeed and things can get better

what you don't realize is that America is NOT a democracy. it is a republic. specifically speaking we are a democratic republic...

It was born as a republic. We dun fucked that up though.

Whens the last time you heard anyone mention republic in school. Shit's weak.

im getting a minor in poly sci and thats one thing they constantly are beating into our skulls... but as far as like high school or any other type of education, i can see how most people would think we live in a democracy..

Yeah I don't think I ever heard a teacher mention in it regards to the USA even into highschool. Not in college so wouldn't know. Kind of sad though.

You got people that think they know everything about everything, hate the other people and they don't even know shit like that. America is fucked.

LAWLD. and dont pretend for one second that these protests arent making a splash in media and effecting the country in one way or another....

Risking their dignity? or risking our government because a lot of the protesters are the lower educated and dont even know what they are really protesting

Have I ever said that there wasn't douchebags in both groups? I'm just saying the OWS people are essentially attacking the people that are just working a 40hour work week job.

No my mom won't let me yet. I'm gonna try to get to a little bit of it anyway though. We've been following it in history class. I was talking about it before in this thread.

I agree with the effort and def support them.

We need to get new legislation and stuff passed to help our country before it's too late

Just because the news spins it that way doesnt mean that's how it is. A lot of people there have good points on stuff. There's a real sense of community. It's pretty cool to see all these people working together for the greater god, even though they are risking getting arrested and stuff.

I went to a protest the other day and wasnt too impressed. People literally had no clue why they were protesting. Someone said they were there to try and get rid of our government. Anyways im all for reforms, George Washington even said we should have some sort of revolution every 20 years to keep us in check. I just think that people are being a blind mass about this and protesting out of anger and blame rather than out of true knowledge and purpose
