Financial crisis

The proposal included a consistent land tax, which would include taxation of the nobility and clergy. Faced with opposition from the parlements, Calonne organised the summoning of the Assembly of Notables. But the Assembly failed to endorse Calonne's proposals and instead weakened his position through its criticism. In response, the King announced the calling of the Estates-General for May 1789, the first time the body had been summoned since 1614. This was a signal that the Bourbon monarchy was in a weakened state and subject to the demands of its people.[12]

The small percentage of people control all the wealth. Meanwhile the rest of us are struggling to pay the bills. People can't afford to go to college, there aren't enough jobs and the jobs don't pay enough. What about the people that can't find a job. They have nothing while some asshole is collecting millions from some corporation thats sucking the life out of everyone else..

Obviously, with the regulations that have been put into place it is going to limit competition in the market place. That is what puts more money in fewer hands. And if an individual makes a lot of money good for them.

More people should strive to be as productive as these individuals. If you think the people making millions of dollars is "unfair" and those people should provide less productive individuals with income that will do nothing that make the less productive individuals more and more dependent on government and it gives them no incentive to become productive individuals.

Life is not fair. Learn that.

There is thousands and thousands of dollars in scholarships out there. Of course, to get those you would probably have to work hard to get good grades... (unless you are a minority)

Don't want to earn a scholarship because you think doing your homework is to demanding? G.I. Bill is out there. In addition, some of the Colorado schools offer 100% free tuition for vets.

A college education has never been more available then it is right now.

The people who can't find a job can't find one because they are either worthless as employees and/or not willing to actually put in a days work.

I don't know about that. Price of tuition is rising at like 8% a year. There is a fundemental problem there. I'm going to be ignorant and blame it on the teachers unions and crazy pension plans that nobody can afford.

I would love to hear about the degrees these recent college graduates claiming they can't find a job got. Did they not try to intern at companies before graduating? Did they just expect since they had a piece of paper that they were going to be immediately hired without no initiative what so ever? I am sure sitting around holding signs is helping them find a job.

The idea behind occupy wall street is good, but its backed by a bunch of idiots. out of the thousands of people, maybe 5-10% actually know whats going on and have great ideas for the country, the other majority are a bunch of fucking hippies, wannabes and followers. The majority has no idea about whats going on and thats why occupy wall street is stupid IMO.
 
Nobody is against people being successful. It's about the greedy people and corporations they run that mow everything down in their way and hoard all the money.

It's gotta stop at some point. Unfortunately a lot of people won't even care enough to do anything until it's too late.

I just think that if you gave people on the lower end more money than they would just spend a little bit of it and put the rest in the bank or stow it away somewhere for when they needed it.

I know that is what I would do if I magically started to make 4 bucks more at a job or magically got money somehow.

What really ticks me off is that this movement has spread to Canada. The U.S. is in a bit of downturn so I can see at least of shred of legitamacy in some of the complaints for OWS, but the fact that people are complaining in Canada is just rediculous. Like seriousely? Canada has like the highest standard of living int he world and you are protesting against it?

But I am still wondering what someone such as yourself who supports the OWS thinks about the homeless stealing from the protests. You didn't answer my question yet.

i think everyone needs to take a minute, stop and think back to slavery and what this country was really founded on and then say oh yea this country is the best country on earth we have such great systems going.

then when u are done thinking about slavery, think about the race of people that had to be killed off and put on reservations so their land could be bought and sold for profits and have slaves brought over to work the fields.

then when u are done thinking about that, think back to all the non existent money that people could use live off the land for thousands and thousands of years before the money fueled shit show came and took over the land.

If someone cant get a job, its their fault, not the CEOs of companies. Like someone said before, those people making millions are running companies that supply hundreds of thousands of jobs, maybe even a million jobs in some cases.

People in the "1%" have worked their ass off since day one, people with your attitude and way of thinking won't make it to that 1% because they're lazy pieces of shit, moaning and groaning that the rich people are taking all of the money THEY HAVE EARNED and they're flipping burgers at mcdonalds.

I'm not trying to attack you directly, because shadynasty i do not know you personally, but people like you are the dumb ass people sitting at OWS and have no idea about whats going on, they're just there because they think they deserve this money that the CEOs have earned.

There is a good message behind OWS but the majority of the people there are just bitching and moaning because these CEOs make millions of dollars and they either make shit or have shit wages at their job. Those CEOs started in the same position, bottom of the ladder, making minimum wage, and made their way up to CEO by working their ass off. But of course, they should give away all of their money they have earned, because some lazy fuck thinks they're greedy. fuck that.

Let me tell you a short story about my mom.

Her mom didn't believe that women should go to college and only be house wives. My mom said "fuck that" and started to work at P&G when she was 18. Straight out of high school. She worked 40+ hours a week and took college classes at night. All of this paid for by her company. Long story short she worked her ass of for a very long time and still works her ass off to make a good living for her family. She wasn't handed everything on a silver plate and knew what it took to be successful and did it.

The rags to riches thing is far less common. for the most part the people with all the money keep taking in more and holding onto it.

I don't think it's all their fault though. Our government keeps forcing jobs overseas because of their policies and stuff. If we could bring some of those jobs back it would make the economy better.

It just delegitmizes your point to exaggerate the danger and equate it to fighting a war or saving America. Even if a small number of these people have good intentions the majority are lazy, lemmings who are just looking to be a part of something and have nothing better to do.

Not mention many of them are looking to provoke police. (see occupy Oakland go figure)
 
What about them? It doesn't matter where someone comes from. In the world of business, you are not going to keep a well paying job if you don't produce. You will be replaced if you are not producing for a business. Maybe those kids had their parents pay for their schooling/car whatever. Well, lucky them. What about once they have to get a job and work to provide a living for theirself/their family? They aren't going to be handed that by their fathers.

This is class warfare. And it is despicable.
 
Stop generalizing based on what you see in the movies.

Sure, someone may have their son(or daughter, but probably son sorry ladies) take over their company. But, that father just doesn't simply hand it over like you see in the movies. They go to school, they work their ass off, they start in a lower position in the company. They still have to go through the system, they still have to work hard. Even though their path is partially laid out for them, it doesn't mean they dont work hard for it. A father isn't just gonna pass of his company to someone who won't be able to run it, period.

Alot of people go from being lower class to creating their own company or moving up in a company, again, stop generalizing.

The government is forcing jobs overseas because of their policies and "stuff"?? are you kidding me?? the government has nothing to do with it, people send jobs overseas to save money because of cheaper labor and honestly a better work ethic. If americans weren't so fucking lazy, mexicans/indians/other foreign workers wouldn't win the competition for jobs.

Eh you can't really claim that. Soldiers in Afghanistan aren't protecting America or the principles it supposedly stands for. They are just shooting a bunch of farmers and shit, who are shooting back with weapons we gave them in the 80's.
