McCain might be too old by that point to want to run. Aside from that... Clinton/Obama or the inverse would be a pretty damn unbeatable tandem, except for one small detail: Woman/Black Guy. Think the American people are that tolerant in regard to who's leading them? The gay marriage vote isn't inciting confidence...

 
Ya, rudy would kill it if he ran. I really don't think Obama would run in 08' though. Hopefully 2012 though. Either way, it's something to look forward to.

Ya, the Black guy/woman thing may turn people away, but if they get shut down because of those reasons, I couldn't live here any more. I know that many people think like that, but maybe the next 4 years will change that .... phhhhhhh ya, ok.

Mccain is actually a really cool guy. I really respect him even though I dont see his views because he had the guts to say something against the majority in his party, and went alone for a bit. However, hes too moderate for most people because we're so polarized right now, but still, cool guy.

ok here goes:

Obama WILL not run in '08. If we learned anything this year its that candidates running for president after only one term in national goverment dont do well. (John Edwards) Obama is an up and coming star in the democratic party which means they are predicting he will be a very influential member of the senate on both sides of the spectrum. He appeals to both sides, whites and minorities. He has a broad appeal which means he could run for president someday but i wouldnt be counting on Obama in '08.

All interesting points guys. Obama seems like he will be in the hunt at some point, not too soon though, he is young in political years. ( but 70% wow) in the future he seems like an intelligent guy I don’t know much about his agenda, but from when I have heard him speak I was very impressed. He commands your attention and respect with his words. Here is what I was thinking regarding presidency though. It would take a republican minority to get elected to the Whitehouse (at least the first time). here is why, I think partisan bases will follow whoever is on the ticket for the most part, but I see moderate dems as a lot more likely to swing for a minority candidate, and you also have a portion of the population that would be more likely to vote for a dude because he is black, and this population is probly more socially liberal and would subtract I think this would subtract from the dem. base to get the individual elected. I would not expect the same sway in the republican side though. I could be all wrong though may be I am generalizing too much. I could see 08 election as Hillary vs. Giuliani.

I really do like this Obama guy but the democratic party is in shambles right now they arent even sure what they stand for. I have no doubt that this guy with the help of others could possibly unite the Democratic party as Reagan did for the Republicans in the 80s but i think it will take him longer than 4 years but def look for him to be the 1st serious black presidential candidate!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

what exactly is the rule on the presidenct regarding the number of terms that can be served? for some reason i thought the rule was no more than 2 consecutive terms, and i think i heard something bout being able to run for a 3rd as long as its not consecutive

I think that to win the elections the democrats need to have a presidential candidate from the south ( Bill Clinton for example). Thats why i think John Edwards and Barack Obama should run for president/vice president.
