Obama vs. Hand Gun Sales(read)!

Hey everyone, my dad and i were at dinner tonight, and we were talkin about the election.well he is friends with a guy that owns a gun store, and he talked to the guy just the other day.The owner of the store has told my dad that ever since Obama was elected, hand gun sales have raised 48%, becuase people feel he will take away the right, or that the US will fall into epic turmoil, Anarchy.
Let me know what you think.
 
That is awesome!! I am a gun owner myself but I am also a huge supporter of Obama. The president never has and never will have control over gun rights. It is up to the states to decide.. And i live in montana. And the cool thing to do here is have a gun rack mounted to your gun rack. GO OBAMA!!
 
Probably not seeing our area has alot of restrictions concerning gunsand owning one around here is kind of a pain in the ass
 
my bad. Currently, it is very hard for the president, wether republican or democrat, to have any influence over gun rights.

I have read that too, but from talking to someone who also is very into guns, they seem to think that it is not going to be as big of an issue as people think or something that happens quickly.

There is enough that Obama needs to deal with right now, a gun ban I doubt will be high up on the list.

I hope it isn't. I definitely want to pick up a Car-15 or a Sig 556 but definitely do not have the money to do it now.....it would suck if it was hard to get them.

I think people should be able to get whatever guns they want (except maybe full auto) but I definitely am a supporter of making it harder to get certain guns. But if you are checked out and a responsible gun owner, I have no issue with it.

So again, while it seems gun sales are going through the roof, I think it is people freaking out when they don't need to be.
 
an assauly weapon is any gun that can shoot full auto, has a suspressor, a pistol grip on a rifle, telescoping stock, certian types of sites, and a bunch of other stuff, basically a M4, AK47, or any gun that looks scary as shit. At least from my unserstanding
 
i also saw a news report on this. and whoever said why do you need a gun- its more than just self protection. its the feeling you get just shooting something that is that powerful. sport shooting is awesome, i love blasting 3 shot-gun blasts in a matter of seconds, clay shooting is a ton of fun.

the reality is, prohibition didnt get rid of alcohal, just like Obama wont get rid of guns, specifically because A. criminals will find a way to find them and then make large profit selling them on the black market. and B. the NRA is on top of thier game and i really dont think anyone can make a stand against them sucessfully...
 
In case what? Some guy pulls a gun on me? Chances are if I pull out a gun its 10 times more likely that i'm shot. Or in case a fire fight breaks out around me and I need to protect myself?

Get real, people aren't going to randomly shoot you and there's very little a gun can do to help protect you. Chances are most people aren't even trained to properly use it and are more of a liability.
 
I'm not going to try to change your mind, but I have a different mindset than you. You don't want a gun, and I have guns. That's the way it goes. BTW If you just ban guns then gun crime will only get worse.
 
is it how a gun looks or what it does? because u can turn anything into an "assualt weapon" and there is no such thing as fully auto aload to citizens replying to another response on this thread
 
according to obama it is any semi automatic with an ammo clip of more than 5 bullets

and to whoever said why do you need a gun?honestly just as much for protection for me as it would be a last resort check against the government. especially because im so pessemistic about obama, but we are going to need guns somewhere down the road when the government steps to far into our choices. blah blah yeah im retarded,.. whatever, we'll see, im not letting anyone take away my guns
 
That's the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever heard that an assault weapon is classified by looks, and not only performance. I personally have purchased and AK-47 and built and AR-15 in the past month. And stocked up on shit loads of ammo. We also own 2 Springfield xd 9mm's, a 1911 Colt .45, around 10 sport shotguns, 5 sporting .22's.

He can pry my guns from my cold dead fingers.
 
Read the declaration of independence and apply it to the 2nd ammendment. The declaration of independence clearly says that it is our duty to take out an abusive government.
Let's think about this for a minute- Why is there little to no crime in rural areas? Because people have guns. Only a truly insane man would go into a house in Vermont in any town but Burlington. That's because about 90% of them are going to have guns in them.- So, we have very little crime

 
Guns are tools. The people I know that own guns use them for hunting or sport. I think the gov't needs to look at the root of gun violence. Who is doing the killing? It is inner city scum, hood rats... why take the rights away from peaceful country folk? I don't get it???
 
exactlyi know it's pretty cliche and the "typical pro gun argument" but it's true: Guns don't kill people people kill people
people are still going to be murdered, just in different ways
plus- drugs are illegal and people still get those

That's bullshit.
The reason to rob someone is because they have money or things of value. This has nothing to do with where you live and everything to do with income. People get robbed more often in more densely populated areas because there are more people there who don't have guns.
Little example- I've lived on my road for 18 years. Once there was a rabid racoon wandering around that fish and game refused to come kill and clean up. A few calls were made, and within minutes, there were about 10 people all with shotguns ready to kill it and bag it. - That's what my road is like. In the 18 years i've lived there not one person on the road has had their house broken into. Why? because they would be shot before they got in the door.

 
I think you're overlooking riots, looting, armageddon, terrorist attack, crime, Iranian missile crisis, martial law, jebus returns, china attacks, russia attacks, new world order, katrina part 2, declared emergency, or any violation of posse comitatus -- to name a few.

People are "robbers" b/c they are uneducated and or need to fuel a drug habbit. These are the types of problems that the govt should be addressing not taking gun rights away.
Also, there is less crime in the country b/c people have respect for those around them.

Obama will be inheriting a lot of fucked up problems when he takes office. Gun rights is not one of them.

yup its funny how the places where literally everyone owns guns, are the most peaceful and crime free. its cities where people go crazy and kill. i swear its because big cities and that whole buisy lifestyle makes people just snap, i get all uncomfortable being in a big city for over a couple hours.
and that would suck if he took away assult rifles, especially if by his definition its anything thats semi auto and can hold more than 5 rounds. my little 22 can hold 12, and that pisses me of how often i have to reload. you can kill someone with anything. think about it, if you have gotten that insane or pissed off that your willing to risk everything to kill one person, your not gonna just be like "aww i cant get a gun, nevermind ill just let him live" you say fuck it and slice his neck or something, taking away isnt gonna stop any crimes.
except for maybe ghetto ass mexicans and black people who are too lazy to get out of their car to kill people, so they do drive by's but a couple less gang members every now and then isnt exactly a bad thing. not to be racist, even though my comment clearly was, i just hate the fuck out of gangs like that, its not my fault that they happen to be 99% blacks and mexicans, if it was white people, my opinion would stay the same.
 
ah yes. england has been a great example of that. people are just running amok killing each other there. wait, no, they arent... they have way less gun deaths per capita

word, i know plenty of responsible gun owners. hell my dad has one, and i barely know about it. all i know is ive seen it once or twice. we deserve to have whatever the government has.
 
its an entirely different thing.

cars are a semi necessary mode of transport.

handguns serve little to no purpose

people can keep their rifles, and shotguns. handguns, pointless in my opinion.
