Obama to hack NASA's Constellation Program

What, the regular level troops? They are already there. I could see the argument for keeping the Airborne in the mix of guys shipped there cause they have something of a slightly elite status on the proverbial military totem pole but the Rangers, SEALs, and Recon? Those guys are all top of the food chain in their respective branches. I am sure we don't need them to pull guard duty/peacekeeper in Iraq, Afghanistan maybe where we are still searching for the fuckers but we don't need all of them deployed.

yeah. i dont know enough about the different kinds to really argue with you there. id just hate to see us have ALL our standard troops over there, in case god forbid we actually needed them for something real elsewhere

Something real like what? Hitler being reincarnated (ok, I could see us needing standard troops for that), the douchebag Somalians trying to invade us off of pirate ships disguised as fishing trawlers, Iran. Well, if Iran were to do something Israel would just go in and level the country so that nothing over 4 feet high would survive.

haha i dont know. but what you are talking about, even with salaries and whatnot is gonna be what? a few hundred million tops? drops in the ocean

It's a start. Plus it will quell those fuckers bitching about why the troops aren't being withdrawn too to show we aren't sending the top of the top which is usually the first sign a war is coming to a close. Recon and the Ragners were some of the first taken out of Vietnam before the fall of Saigon. The SEALs were still technically there but they were sitting on ships no longer running missions.

well that's it boys and girls...

NASA is officially dead. The ISS is set to be decommissioned in a few years (believe it or not) the shuttle is being retired very soon, and with the Constellation program canceled, The United States...has just lost our manned space capabilities. Looks like in a few years we'll be depended on the Chinese to send us to space too.

This is one of the dumbest times to do this as well. We've already developed a hell of a lot of technology, and invested a ton of money in this program, and now it's all gone to waste.

And the need for manned space missions is because there are a lot of things that robots can't accurately do. We did sent robots to the moon, and they didn't provide half the info the humans did.

NASA got too good at using robots, and too bad at using humans. The robots were able to do too much, and so people lost interest. If a human isn't actually doing something, people aren't interested. NASA sucks at PR. They were landing on the goddamn moon, and the world just fucking moved on. It became routine, and no one cared anymore.

short and simple....this is an awful decision, and has killed American manned space programs.

i'm surprised it hasnt been cut earlier. we should probably spend our money on our own people before we start using it for "fun". all it is doing is gaining us knowledge of space, which we'll never fully comprehend anyway. people just always want to have an explanation for everything that exists. lets just worry about the well being of our country before we start working our way outwards

over react much? we are in an insane amount of debt right now. somehow i doubt that the american space program is done for the rest of time.

no, space has been privatized.

whoever can build a rocket to send satellites into space for us will reap all the benefits.

ie. space x

when has the US ever not been in debt?

I could care less for politics, so i can't really argue against or for anything else, but this is just my own personal beliefs. No NASA is not a good thing. If for no other reason, then because of the jobs. There are a lot more jobs at risk here than people may think...

isnt that what conservatives want? the govt cant do anything right, why not privatize nasa as well.

before the american revolution i think was the last time. then we got 5 million or so in debt after we became a sovereign land....

we are in a recession it makes sense. i personally think we need to focus more on whats going on in our planet. we really need the public to realize that caring about the environment isnt a bunch of hippy bullshit. it shouldnt be a political issue, everyone needs care about our planet before its too late, which it might already be. i know it seems kind of off topic but no matter what we learn about other planets, we wont be able to use any of the knowledge if our planet is fucked.

the fact that I have read the words "1.9 trillion dollar national debt ceiling" about 10 times pisses me off so much. it seems like every time you start an argument, you base it off of something you read, and you make it really obvious by using the most canned wording.

your annoying. shut up
