You killed anywhere from 10 to 15 million to 19 million civilians. You can argue all you want but i don't think anyone in history will ever catch up to a figure like 10 million or 20 million, especially over the span of only 4 years!

No country, ever, will ever rack up as many civilian kills or even enemy kills invading sovereign territory.

I know my economics concepts. I also know that because of this emphasis on education and prosperity the human race has avoided natural selection. Plastics may have saved many lives, but if you knew about plastic's properties at all you would understand how terrible of a substance is for our planet. I am not as concerned about the human race as I am concerned about all other life forms and how their disappearance will affect the delicate balance of life on this planet. It's a Keynesian mentality of sorts. We aren't going to get rid of all this harmful technology that allows us to live the extravagant lives we live, but we sure as hell can limit our use of resources and at least attempt to lol at simplifying. We are slaves to technology; it's sad when we have a better understanding of a computer than we do of the harvesting of neccesary plants such as corn (yes I am making a generalization). We as humans are so self centered now that we lose touch with our habitat and how it would affect us without our fantastic shelters. It's not something that can be fixed in a day but at least you could realize how fucked we are if we continue this lifestyle.

War in native America was primarily over food, which is what our wars will be about soon. We could learn a thing or two from that way of living. Maybe I am a hippie, but I am a happy hippie who can acknowledge the issues and change as needed. So be it.

Bowing WAS submissive. Now it is a cultural norm. These types of things change over time. Much like any customary event. Bowing was submissive when the emperor and Shogun era ran the country. Now it is much more symbolic like a handshake. Your information is outdated and you have obviously never been to Japan. As I have actually got to know the culture and opened myself to a broadened cultural perception, I know just how silly your argument is.
Obama was in the Emperor's place of residence. Thus, as a guest this is how you show your gratitude for the time being. You have obviously never been Japan or have much background with the culture. As many Japanese realize this is just a sign of showing respect towards culture. ie, when you go to another country you ACCEPT their customs/traditions.

The Japanese on Okinawa are beginning to have problem with the US Military base there too. The men get drunk, rowdy, start smashing up the place and shit. They have been asking for the US to get out for a bit simply because we are allies with each other now.
 
i know this. i read the paper and i'm on a car forum where most of the people on there are americans stationed there. they don't like what the bad apples do over there any more than the natives do.

firstly, i can say with confidence that I am older than you, probably go to a better school than you, probably know exponentially more about politics than you do, and should be able to comment on this thread as I do know quite a lot about IR, even though i do not necessarily concede to your point of view. Secondly, if you knew anything about IR, and realism as you state you do, you would understand that by Obama bowing means nothing in the greater scheme of their relationship other than Obama showing respect. You see, kid, from a realist perspective we can assume that Akihito, along with other world leaders, are not focused on jesters such as "bowing", other than their meaning as a show of respect, but rather in the greater scheme of things focus their attention on the military strength of a country. Now their is no argument about the military superiority of the United States here, and assuming that Akihito, and other leaders, are rational actors, which is a critical assumption of realism and IR in general, then the fact that Obama bowed really means absolutely nothing, as the fact still remains that they are the strongest military nation in the world. Had the United States recently being nuked or had some sort of catastrophe happen which severely hampered their ability to act strongly in a military sense, and Obama were to meet world leaders and bow the action may then be considered one in which we may question, but as the conditions are such it is absurd to assume that any leader would perceive this as a show of weakness as your ignorant self seems to think. It actually is laughable, and any respectable political analyst probably would not even waste their time on this issue, except perhaps one's who believe their sole purpose is to find ways in which to further divide an already clearly divided country.

a symbol of submission is meaningless when it means nothing, I am sure that you would be one of the first to state that the United States has the strongest military in the world, and this of course is fact, so how does Obama bowing to the emperor of Japan, in any way concede this power? Real power is represented in military power, so to world leaders, these insignificant gestures mean nothing, the only people that care about this shit are people that want to attack Obama.

Thus we must conclude that what really was being portrayed in the bow was an ironic and sarcastic gesture of false impotence. A taunt as a means of saying 'look how weak i can pretend to be to you, because we both know i bombed your ass out of power.'

look at it that way and Obama becomes a bad ass, douchey guy you'd expect to troll the internet...

Did i say it would have any foreign policy implications? All i said was that it was inappropriate not, catastrophic. i brought up international relations only to refute side remarks made by others, not to add to the original comment.
