i was cleaning a smudge off the inside of my goggs and now there all cloudy, i think i fucked up the lense coating

are they ruined?

I'm guessing they're fire lenses, yeah, it says in very small print on one of the tags not to clean the inside of the lens, very annoying cause NO ONE ever reads the tags - especially for cleaning instructions.

same fucking thing happened to me. my AR-28 oakleys fogged up last week so i took a goggle wipe and wiped the inside. when i got home, my goggles were smeared and cloudy. fml

it says in multiple places not to wipe the inside, or youll fuck up the anti fog coating.

youre pretty much screwed.

You should never ever ever wipe the inside of your lenses if they have an anti fog coating on them when they are damp. The inside of your lenses are super sensitive. you'll ruin any gog inside trying to clean it if it's even a little wet.

Yeah they are ruined. If you ever get snow on the inside again, shake out the snow and then dab the moisture out, without wiping it at all. Then just ski for a bit and the air venting will totaly clean them.
but i guess now you can just try to make it better by totally removing that coating, try windex and glasses cleaner maybe nail polish remover. I mean they are fucked up what have you got to loose.

i don't even dab, that can lead to some problems too. I usually just shake them out and let them air out on the lift, wave them around and such.

I ruined a pair of crowbars by getting snow on the inside lens. I even let them air dry, but the water created spotting on the lens coating. Seems utterly crazy to make a goggle that can't let snow touch the inside without being ruined.

really I have never had any problems dabbing them. The goggle bag doesn't soak anything up so I even use my base layer to do it. I do ski in the rockies where it is super dry though if that has anything to do with it.
Another suggestion is always carry a second pair in your pack. If it is deep enough snow that you will probably fall and get them wet, you most likely will have your pack on you anyways so throw a pair in there, and just ski with the wet ones in your pocket for a few runs.

[this still belongs in gear talk]

Ha, I just remember the fix for this in dire situations! You just rip off the inside lens.

And I never have this sort of sensitivity issue with any other goggles. At least with Scott, Dragon, Smith...

ya my friend did this, we later found out that any sort of excessive rubbing/cleaning on the inside of lenses on most goggles will smudge the anti-fog coating, its pretty depressing

I don't know if it was because I have one of the lower grade lenses, but I've ignorantly rub the inside of my Crowbars many, many times with the goggle bag to clean or dry them, and nothing of the sort has happened to me. I'm not sure if I've completely wiped off all of the anti-fog or if there was none to begin with, but my goggles don't have smears and I don't have that bad of fogging in them.

they have been wet with snow before, other times ust really fogged and I've wipped them in both situations

I have been sick and tired of foggin problems myself so i just picked up a pair of smith turbo fans tonight. Hopefully these will fare better.

*Wiping inside of goggle* "Wait im not supposed wipe the inside of my cbars?

Im screwed i have never done it when they are wet because i havnt skied with them yet, but after pulling parts and removing lens i wiped any finger prints off of the lens on the sides.

Are my cbars ruined or am i alright? It looks like there is a film on the outside of the goggle sometimes but not the inside.

brand new blue iridiums for crowbars just went for 50$ shipped on ebay. jump on a deal like that

i clean the inside of my crowbars all the time. im pretty sure i fucked them up a little but theyre not cloudy

I just said this in another thread bout this. I clean the inside of my crowbars with my tshirt when they have actual droplets of water on the inside, and nothing ever happens to them. Also never happened to my O frames, or my A frames, or even the Bugz i have from when I was like 12.

Take your lens out and put it in a warm room over for a day or two... that did the trick for me. Just read the labels next time.

my dad did that to my brothers oakleys a while ago but he used windex and they got completely fucked
