Oak Ridge...

So... Right now I'm living in Ontario, Canada but there's a decent chance that I might be moving down here to Oak Ridge, TN, so I thought I'd try to learn a bit about the place - A few questions that I would really appreciate some answers for:

How's the skiing down here? I looked around and did some research, and it sounds like the closest place would be Ober Gatlinburg, but it sounds like people say there are better alternatives in NC? If so, would it be worth the extra 1-3 hour drives to get to Appalachian or Cataloochee?

How are the people like? My dad's been down here a few times and says everyone's really mellow down in TN and have a cool accent hahaha... Truth?

Finally... Anybody actually live in Oak Ridge/close by? Would be cool to meet some NSers down here if I do move!

Thanks!

mountains are gonna be small with fake groomed snow, it's just how it is in the southeast. appalachian is the smallest but maintains their park the best, ober and cat i can't say too much about, i think i heard ober was trying to improve their park (or build one?) this year though?

since these regionals hardly ever get checked here's a link to another forum that's fairly active for the southeast region:

i'll admit its a slightly older and different crowd than ns but that's not a terrible thing all the time.

oh and the thing about the accent is true, you may think some people talk funny

Haha awesome thanks for the reply, especially the link to the forum! As for the mountains being small... That won't be a problem, since I live in the East coast and my local "mountain" is really just a hill...
