Hello!

I'm planning on taking a ski trip to NZ this summer(August). I've been to Mt.Hutt 3 years ago and would like to try another resort, a bigger one with lots of pipes and kickers.

Could you NZ locals recommend me a good Ski Resort and how much I should anticipate to pay for a week pass?

Someone mentioned Mt. Ruepeho but I have no idea where it's at and how large it is.

Thanx!

ummmm there is an NZ ski camp called DVance or something I think its DVance.com where you can do both big mtn and park skiing.... go to the site and check out what resorts they go to. I have heard stuff about wanaka and queenstown being good

I'm half kiwi and hope to move to queenstown eventually

Stay away from the north Island fields, thats Rheuapheu. In the south island if you want pipes and kickers Cardrona is probably the best bet with 4 pipes and a huge park. If natural terrain is your thing I'd go with The Remarkables, Cragiburn or Temple basin. Price wise I'm not sure except for temple which is $345 NZ for the week including accomadation.

Freshies for a week after a dump? Temple Basin - Hell Yeah!

At Cardrona, is it mandatory to wear helmets to go into pipes or parks? Just curious. Some ski resorts here have restrictions. I just want to wear beanies with goggle. But if they do enforce some head protection, I'd have to pack my helmet with the rest of the shit I'll be taking with me.

Yeah - a friend of mine is doing a season in NZ this summer, staying in Queenstown, riding in Wanaka and Cardrona with the Canadian olympic team. WE were speaking to a girl last week who said Cardrona's parks are sweet. She said there are two superpipes and they cut them alternatively, so there's always one good one.
