NZ and no snow.

Okay so I have a serious question,

My plan was to fly all the way to NZ, Queenstown tomorrow, but because of the vulcano as, they gave me the choice to cancel the whole thing and get full refund of my money.

With no snow there yet, and no snow comming in.

what would you do?

going over meant paying alot of money.

+k for help on my decision.

I live there and uh well its getting colder ( negatives now) but yeah it suck that the season has started so late but we might get some soon when were you supposed to leave?

Id say dont go..I mean I am going to guess you want to ski right? If i were you, I would take back the money, hide it till next summer and go then. From what I hear NZ is dope..as long as there is snow.

This happens every year. NZ is always a late starter when it comes to snow. I've learnt to not expect to be skiing properly atleast till mid july. as for coming over, get your refund and then just come later like in august, when there will be snow.

Amen. Its finally getting cold enough to make snow consistantly, but decent snowfall is still a while off yet.

Hmmm, not sure if I fully agree with you there bro. Maybe it's because I used to ski Hutt, but every year since 06 (except 07) the Canterbury fields have opened on time, or even as early as May with decent coverage.

To isabelle, I am a Kiwi and I'd suggest coming over later in the year, or next year. You really want to make the most of the all the money you've spent on travel and there's little chance of that happening with the current snow conditions.

Not really true, the last 2 years Remarks has opened with everything open. That is a little unusual admittedly, but really all you can say about NZ snow is that it's unpredictable!

At OP, at least you only have no snow to deal with, I'm Bariloche, so I have no snow, and I have that volcano covering everything in ash!

So we decided to go anyway, and just see what happends, we have been looking forward to this for damn to long to give up now.

So NZ here we come!

I'll be in Queenstown from the 9th July for a week. Skiing Cardrona, snowpark and treble cone (could have stayed in Wanaka but staying in Queenstown for the partying). If you see me say hi. Light purple and black armada gear, white giro shiv.

Maybe some of the Chilean resorts might be open, but here in Bariloche we have loads of ash, and not much snow.

Ballsy decision! At least there is slightly more snow at Mt Hutt since yesterday (mthutt.com), Snowpark shouldn't be tooo far away now either.
