this is a fairly simple thing, im quite surprised there isnt one already. basically because im on my ipod all the time and want to watch video of the day and such... ?

That is totally counter to what we are trying to do. We want NS to be THE source for skiing media on the internet, why would we want to distribute our content to somewhere that shows no love for the skiing community and is just a part of the internet giants pocket

But if it were on youtube wouldn't it help the skiing community grow faster? I mean even if skiing did become a part of the 'internet giants pocket' newschoolers would still be the place where i would consume all of my time because it is simply the best and has everything.

I kind of see it like this: I can watch sports highlights and recaps all over the internet from places like youtube, random google searches, etc., but I go to sportsillustrated.com because everything is organized and it's an awesome community where I can get my giant sports fix at once. Plus swimsuit addition is very appealing.

But what if SI had organized content, great community and all the highlights and recaps, as well as all the video you could ever want. Why would you need to go anywhere else? That is our goal at NS to be THE website for ALL worthwhile skiing media and content.

NS is amazing. It is still growing, great idea, but I just don't think that is the goal of Newschoolers.

seeing as this is going nowhere....

how about an IPOD FRIENDLY NEWSCHOOLERS

complete with video of the day!

I totally agree, but you know that TGR will never let it happen. There will always be a worthwhile TGR forum in addition to NS.

I agree with the OP. Given the size of the NS community, it wouldn't be difficult to get enough subscribers to become a YouTube partner.

The fact is that even though NS wants to be the online source for skiing-related videos, that's not going to happen soon. Everyone uses YouTube. Period. People also use Vimeo. That's never going to stop. There just aren't enough options with NS's video system (i.e. HTML5).

And the argument that NS wants the video to stay here I understand, but if you look at what other companies are doing (i.e. CNN, Apple, etc.), the Internet is no longer on sites. Facebook, for example, has become a microcosm for the wider Internet. Apps are changing the way that people use the Web.

Putting one featured video up per week on a Newschoolers YouTube channel is not going to hurt the site. It will get more people interested in it.
