NS why do you like OBAMA?......No Canadians allowed.

No, its not. Everything i have read says that you can ACTUALLY drown. so its no more "simulated" than holding someone under water.

electrocution

e⋅lec⋅tro⋅cute   /ɪˈlɛktrəˌkyut/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [i-lek-truh-kyoot] Show IPA

–verb (used with object), -cut⋅ed, -cut⋅ing. 1. to kill by electricity.

2. to execute (a criminal) by electricity, as in an electric chair.

Word. My hole high school education was based on how to take tests so the school looks good. I didnt learn jack shit in high school. Just how to take the next standardized test.

politics is frustrating to say the least

i wish parties/people/leaders could be more bipartisan, realize we are all in this together, and work together. We need to stop blaming each other for what they did and realize blaming others will not fix this HUGE problem we have.

George Washington warned about the party system: "It serves to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration....agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one....against another....it opens the door to foreign influence and corruption...thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another."

That being said, I think Obama is working extremely hard, but he is just too much of a politician (pork, holding off parts of the stimulus bill till the year of his reelection to make him look good, constantly blaming Bush/republicans for many things, etc.) We are all americans. Why can't we work together?

ohohohohoh... time for my wrench throwing...

cause unlike Israel... we arent Gods' chosen people......

this is going to be fun to watch.

it's not ironic at all, the guy is saying how he didn't learn anything in high school. if anything, it furthers his point. (his point being he is uneducated, haha)

he's got good ideals, tries to make logical decisions designed to solve problems instead of greedy self-interests. he handles himself well, speaks well, has his priorities set straight, puts thought into his choices, discusses his options with the right people. i won't comment on his actual plans because i think they're promising, but let's face it: nobody knows if they'll work yet, just hang in there. a lot of y'all are pretending like you know what the results will be already. however, i can highly understand why one would create jobs with projects that are designed to benefit the world and the nation in many different ways, but i honestly can't tell you whether he'll be able to dig himself out of the debt.

Well I've been water boarded, and I agree with him.

Not an awesome idea for interrogation in my opinion, but I don't think it's horrifying torture.

I think it's kind of funny that I am sitting in a discussion about LOAC and torture right now too. Weird coincidence.

You would be surprised to know that 99% of the people in this room are pissed off about the military's history of torture though (we are almost all Air Force, with one Navy guy and one Canadian Air Force guy), and we are talking about what is acceptable interrogation and what is out of bounds.

i dont. i dont think hes made a single good decision and hes spent more money/ promised to spend more money, alot of which DOESNT EXIST, then any previous administration. At this point we've all sucken so low that it all comes down to the thought that a liberals worst enemy is thier country. By closing GTMO and pulling out of the middle east he's almost giving terrorists to freedom to keep well..being terrorists. also 30% off the 700 people ever put in GTMO have been recaptured out on the battlefield killing people. many of which are noncombatants. but before i get too into the guantanamo thing.....

yes you are.... man (echoes) manmanmanmanmanman

umm ok so why waterboard when you can just hold someones head under the water for the same effect?? ITS SIMULATED DUDE get that through your head BEEENNNNNNNN!!! If you would like i will come preform it on you and show you how much its not like drowning.

cmon now, this thread is about obama's first 100 days as president, nothing to do with palin and mccain, the election is over, the other video at least had to do with obama, but not really relevant to the thread topic

I should point out that I swam most of my life too, so I might not be the absolute best example now that I think about it.

There's an asphyxiation hazard, but modern interrogators have doctors on hand with blood oxygen monitors to make sure their subject stays oxygenated enough to remain conscious. If the prisoner begins to asphyxiate to the point of unconsciousness the doctors have five to six minutes to resuscitate your prisoner before brain damage occurs, which is more than enough time especially with the equipment prepped. It's possible to kill someone this way if you're not careful, but the point of coercive methods isn't to kill you, it's to keep you on the agonizing border between life and death.

what part of "its possible to kill someone this way" did you not understand. just like its possible to kill someone if you hold them underwater.

hes trying to say theres stupid obama fans, whats his point? theres stupid people everywhere. neither video was relevant, that was my point.

Note to self: Never run for President... everyone expects you to do exactly what they want and it better be done your first 100 days on the job. Oh and I cannot take anytime for myself to spend with my kids or go bowling because that is just unacceptable!

Some people are just so ignorant and don't understand how the government/economy works. Some things take time. Obama is doing a splendid job so far IMO. I'm really pleased with his ideals on Stem cell research. I totally agree with his increase on the excise taxes for cigarettes. He is putting a lot of effort on improving foreign relations, which I see as pretty important since there are a lot of countries that do not like us right now. I feel he is going to move our environmental policies in a positive direction. Like I said before, it is going to take time for some change.

I don't like him because

-When he speaks, even about something serious, he has a little smirk on his face all the time. It pisses me off, and makes it seem like he's not taking anything seriously.

-He smokes cigarettes, and raised taxes on them. Hypocrite.

-Continuing too many of Bush's policies

-Shut down Guantanamo Bay without really having a plan of where to send everybody, some of the released have already been tracked back to their old organizations.

-Said he would end DEA raids on California medical marijuana dispenseries, and then a bunch in Frisco got raided like 2 weeks later.

Sorry I think that snidges are totally retarded... they're bad for you, they smell bad, the buzz you get is weak shit, they're expensive (even before the increase). Just smoke all natural herbs without all the chemical shit that tobacco companies add to that shit. But, hey if you want to die from lung cancer, go for it... survival of the fittest, maybe you'll be lucky and you won't have the genotype that can lead to lung cancer.

you know all you are running on is WHAT IFS WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF... that shit doesnt happen, they are trained to waterboard without asphyxiation the doctors are there incase something more intense happens like a heart attack which is possible but fuck you can have one of those walking down the street. there have been no reported deaths from waterboarding so explain that............ except the japanese who were killed for doing it to americans.

how could canadians post in this thread> or even be on this site? we all live in igloos eh, no doubt aboot it

I think his video was relevant to the extent that Obama and the left have been advocating policies and ideals that show more and more government involvement. There was one thing about paying for people mortgages. I know its not exactly like the video and Obamas not paying for peoples' cars, but its the idea of government taking care of the people, instead of people taking care on themselves.

But, there are stupid people on each side yes, but a majority of obama voters and a majority of this country now has the belief that the government is there to take care of them.

ya americans are lazy they really dont want to do anything for themselves anymore so they voted someone in that promised to do everything for them.

so in theory you could train people to revive them from electrocution. does that make that not torture now too? you could have doctors on hand so they dont die when you cut their fucking arms off. i suppose thats not torture either. the fact of the matter is you are drowning someone. and that is torture. and you admitted yourself we killed japanese for doing it. so dont you think thats a little hypocritical?

i dont think that the majority of people expect them to pay their mortgages. i think they expect him to prevent banks from taking advantage of people like they did. (before you say it, im aware some of it was due to poor decisions by homeowners as well, but the fact of the matter is banks took advantage of the stupidity of people, which is wrong). and healthcare, i know that i personally didnt vote for him to take care of MY healthcare, but to take care of the healthcare of people who cant afford it.

CRA.

banks were stiff armed into making bad loans. not to mention fanny and Freddie were given the wink wink nudge nudge. we've got your back, go ahead and buy up that bad debt.

are the banks blameless ? no.

are the homeowner blameless? NO.

is the government blameless. NO.

im sure you know i disagree:). its not my job to make sure you or anyone else has healthcare. i can make it my job, but the government doesnt need to coherce me into it.

Is there a thread about the whole Chrysler deal and the UAW taking over? Because that was pretty stupid.

the UAW now will be setting the salaries of UAW rank and file employees. yeah that sounds like a resepe for success! but who knows.
