how cool would it be if there was a drag-after-a-boat system for skis that actually worked to ski with. I guess it wont be that hard to do since water slides on skis arnt that hard

I've always wanted to get on some water skis, go ski and jump over the wake trying 360s and shit... or backflips... newschool water skiing.

ive tried it a couple times...its really hard to get a good carve into the wake or maybe it was just cuz i was using shitty oldschool waterskis

first of all, you would ruin your knees because water skis do not release. second of all, my dad used to jump the wake slalom way back in the day.

I understand more what you mean. I actually thought about this years ago... like, it would be cool to jib rails, and ride switch on waterskis (like on wakeboards). It could be done I think... some one would just have to develop a super specialized water ski.

We gonna whack it til the wheels fall off.

hitting a slider (yes that's what they're called) on waterskis would be awesome. I've always wanted to give it a shot on my slalom ski, it would be so hard though.

newschool water skiing doesnt work at all. the skis arent tightly secured to your feet so they jsut fall off. wakeboarding is where its at.

I've thought a lot about this in the past, and came very close to cutting a wakeboard in half lengthwise to make two "skis".

Problems with the concept is keeping good edge pressure to load the line and creat the pop off the wake. There is no way you can generate as much force as you can with both feet secured in a wakeboard...

Also for the concept to work you would need a much stiffer boot to control your edge (I was thinking the goode slalom water ski boots might be a good start?)

And then you'de probably fuck your knees up the first time you catch an edge...

For now I'll stick with wakeboarding, but if I got a free pair of those twinskate things, I'd give them a try (you never know until you try, right?)

 
Yeah they look a little like snowblades. I have thought about this too (seeing we got more summer here so I seem to spend more time on the water than snow) and I reckon it would be fucking hard to newshool on waterskis. Basically because to be able to go on waterskis you got to be going a fair pace, unless you cut them down and make them fatter (ie like those water blade thingys). Also waterskis are much heavier than snow skis so getting pop is a lot harder with two skis and catching an edge is a lot more painful...So the combined effect of faster speed of boat and heavier skis equals smaller wake (than for wakeboarding) and less pop. But i would be sick if someone did come up with something.

newschool waterskiing would be pretty sweet.

i went water skiing once when i was little and ended up being dragged underwater behind the boat. It was pretty scary.
