NS super slow, uses so much resources

Whenever I load newschoolers, it slows my browser down incredibly, everything becomes so slow I can hardly use it. I'm on the university network which is super fast, so that can't be the problem. It's not the loading time, but the actual resources being used when the site is displayed.

When I use Safari on my Mac.. it's unusable. On Firefox is works, but extremely slow. When I use Firefox on my brand new 3 GHz Linux machine, it's slightly better but still unusually slow and a pain in the ass to browse. I don't understand. Maybe I'm loading something wrong, if not I wish there was some sort of lite version of the site without fancy menus which I can browse smoothly. But I really can't believe this 3 GHz linux machine would be too slow to read NS :(

As Jason said, there is settings to turn off all the fancy stuff for the site. You can shut down the background, and many other intensive things.

Weird though... I mean I use the site at home on an old AMD 2600 with only 1GB ram and its just fine....

Do other people notice the site being slow?

yeah i find it a little slow but nothing to complain about. depends on the day and it depends how bitchy my internet decides to act, but no, it's not too bad

ok changing the settings as mentioned above helps a lot, at least on the Linux machine, thanks a lot :)

on my Mac its still unusable, I suspects some scripts are messing up on it because its old and non-intel? Either way I'm getting a new faster mac next week so that should fix the problem i hope.

uhh today ns is running really slow and half the time the page won't pop up, it says "too many connections" or "fatal system error"
