ok so i was fuckin around with our toilet today cuz it wasnt working right. well any way i drained the tank completely and was wondering id i need to fill it back up? i know nothing of the workings of a toilet and google is not helping me

you either need to turn the water back on, theres a valve on the back of your toilet

or

that metal rod with the float on it, play around with it

if neither of those work consult a physician

go to school during nights to get your plumbing license. Once you're done with that you will have adequate knowledge to go back and troubleshoot it.

i have a feeling its gonna go downhill. you do realize you need to get your journeyman ticket to do so? well if you are going to work as a plumber, i suppose you could manage it, but without plumbing knowledge thats not likely

and its probably your float stuck on something keeping it from dropping and filling back up. upload a picture and it will be more helpful

LMAO... your taking over a family business in a year and you dont know how to do a simple toilet repair??

Im in Montana and it sounds like we have almost the same apprenticeship requirements... You're Canadian right? There is no actual school requirement here though just supervised work and you have books you have to fill out then go to Helena and take a state test every so often. I was also laid off all last winter, pretty sweet.

We were mainly doing spec homes and light commercial until last summer when the housing market crashed. So far this year we have done 4 spec homes and in 2008 I think we did 44 or 46. We've been doing lots of remodels and restorations this year, were currently working in a mansion built in 1890. We started doing fencing and putting up steel buildings to stay afloat though and thats mainly whats been keeping us alive. What do you guys do? How big is your shop?

Ya man, new construction is nice because most things are expected and there are minimal surprises. Remodels and renovations can be nice or a huge bitch. Sounds like you are pretty damn busy though, I wish it was that way down here. Everything in the US is pretty dead supposedly, I know its true here.
