NS Photo Diary Day

So I think it would be really cool for everyone to take pictures throughout their day. What they do, what they eat, who they see, etc. We all do it on the same day and then post up our photos. It would be cool to see what each person does in just 24 hours.

We should plan it during the week of voting on the photo contest, so we're not all out trying to shoot for that and for this.

Would anyone be down? I know I would!
 
that would be immensely cool. I'd participate based on when the day would be. To be honest, none of my days when I'm still at school are particularly interesting or photo-worthy. A summer day when i work however could be cool
 
That would be kind of the cool thing about it though. We get to see awesome days, mundane days, etc. Even if you go to the dentist, bring your camera.

I propose we do one in the next week or so, but I do think one in the summer would be awesome too. Once a month maybe?
 
I just did this for a school project. Although i did it of a day of skiing and mainly focused on skiing... not to much time to shoot when there is a foot of fresh.
 
Alright i just got an idea:

Why doesn't everyone make a thread in the cult as their own "diary" and then can update it whenever they want. that way if you have an interesting day you want to photo document you can do it, and then we'll also have mandatory diary days too.

Sounds pretty good then we can all have our own log to post our photos. Just name it Bakerpow's photo diary or 1337's photo diary etc...
 
Id be down, but I dont like the make your own thread and just update it whenever. I say everyone does it on one day.
 
hey, you might as well just get a disposable camera. i don't care if anything happens to them, they're a lot easier to carry and quieter than either of my cameras, and they're super trendy.
actually i just need a good film point and shoot.
 
Decided to do this today. Not to happy with the results, kinda had to rush to make it from my house to the mountain to the ocean. I might post it in the cult once i organize my pictures.
 
The date for NS Photo Diary Day will be Wednesday, March 16th

So I've gotten a few questions about this, and my intent behind this project is as follows..

Don't necessarily try and make cool shit happen that day. Not saying if you get the chance to go skiing or meet the Pope to not do it. Rather, go along with your day as if it were a normal day, but document it. From the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed, and everything in between. Go to school? Bring your camera. Doctors appointment? Bring your camera. Sitting on your ass on ns bored out of your mind? Take pictures! Get the idea? No matter what you do, even if it seems so boring and mundane, document it. I picked this Wednesday because I know some of us will be in school, some will be on spring break, and some will be just going on with their everyday life. (Next one will be a Saturday or something cool)

Now, if you would like, you can make these pictures as interesting as you want. You can 'stage' a shot if you want (like self portraits and such), and also have people pose for photos. Do whatever you want! Make school interesting if you want, or make it seem as boring as it really is. This can either take a very editorial or very photojournalistic turn depending on what you want to do with it. It's your day, it's your photography, make it what you want.

Photos will then get posted up to this thread. If you are shooting digital and want to post them up the next day, go right ahead. If you are shooting film and need a little extra time, that's cool too!

I'll bump up this thread in a week if it doesn't stay at the top to remind everyone. Also, if you're a part of the cult then you will get a message.

Very excited to see what everyone does!
 
holy contradictory.

You say don't go out of our way to make our day interesting, just shoot our day as mundane as it is, but then you go on to say jk if you want you can stage a whole bunch of stuff and shoot portraits and anything you want.

Maybe I'm unfamiliar with the ritual of a diary, but I thought you were supposed to tell it how it is. Not make shit up.
 
i see it as open to embellishment

like when you tell a story to friend's, do you tell every detail exactly as it was? probably not

take it how you want though
 
No, I'm not saying make shit up. But I'm saying you don't have to make it snap-shotty if you don't want to either. I guess the best way is to explain it in a picture.

You might take the train/bus everyday. So if you want you don't have to just shoot

I have a question...I didn't thoroughly read everything yet. But...the day you want everyone to do their diary is on the 16th? Cause that's midweek, and I have work, so I wouldn't be able to do anything but a picture leaving in the am. I can't take a camera into my job, and it would be super boring for the viewers, haha.

If so, can I do it on a weekend, where I have a more interesting life? haha
 
it might be a better idea to just have a time period where everyone shoots. and then we'll all start posting after a certain date. just make note of the day that your's takes place.
 
16th is good with me. To all the people saying it should be on a different day or spread over a couple day, I think you're missing the point. We want to see every everyone's photos from one day only, even if it's a boring day we still want to see what you come up with!
 
i think wednesday will be fine, then we can also have one that weekend maybe too?
 
Yeah, my point was that I can't do it on a Wednesday because I work in an office where it wouldn't be allowed. Not that it would be boring, I just can't do it. I think maybe giving the week before to catch your day, and all post on the same day is good. I dunno, its cool whatever way. If I can't do it then I can't. I'm sure there will be more.
 
i think it would be badass, I'm def gonna shoot mine on Wednesday... but there should be a makeup date for everyone who wants it, like that saturday
 
Yeah that's cool too! I mean people can really shoot it whenever they want and post it up here. Just thought it would be cool for all of us to do the same day and see what we all do on the exact same day
 
man i forgot which wednesday it was so for a second i thought it was tomorrow and got all excited :(
