I'm actually surprised to see almost 200 online right now. From what I remember, back in 04-09 it was pretty consistently over 300 online, and sometimes getting to 500 (that's just what I remember seeing at one point in time) but the forums were much more active. NS is still holding on during the winter, but in the summer NS often has 20 or less members online

Members online isn't really a great metric, I'm pretty sure the list is at least 5-10 mins delayed and there is a chance like half of those members online are actually browsing and this is a small representation of how many people actually visit the site.

That being said, unique monthly visitors is metric used to measure this kind of thing, in the haydays NS was pulling 1M+ a month, now days is probably closer to 100-200k average.

I've always wondered this.. for mods and other NS "higher ups" (for lack of a better term)

is this site a full time gig for you homies? Income to support a household? I mean if this site is owned by a corporate company, I would think so...? I have no idea, though

This thread really got away from OP quick lol.

I joined in 2011 right after high school. Wish i knew about NS earlier but everyday my roommates and our swedish neighbors would watch video of the day together and then deep dive into whatever else we could. Some of you have been absolutely roasted in my living room. Lol.

Pretty sure the mods are just volunteers. Red names definitely get paid but I do not wanna speculate on how much.

Mods are volunteers, not all red names get paid either, NS has the least amount of full time employees it has had in a long time. Being owned by a corporate company doesn't just mean endless money, the company that owns NS now basically bought a bankrupt Enthusiast Network like 4 years ago, NS could generate more revenue as an independent website but its severely limited by the parent company.
