NS name my pitbull

Seriously though, all of my dogs are named after foriengn beers. We have had tching-tao, caffrey, and tusker. Think of something like that. It's really fun to try to explain to people why we name our dogs what we do.

been mulling around the idea of adoption and if i can provide enough for a dog in my life right now, sorry for your loss, he's burying bones in the great big park in the sky

Hell yeah. You could even just do "Thello" and it would still be badass.

I wanted so badly to name my dog Othello, but this dog looks like an Othello. Mine doesn't.

Wait so after that entire thread where we said DONT GET A DOG AS A 19 YEAR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT, you did it? your dog is fucked, no matter how hard you try or all the things you do right.

lol the dog isn't fucked, it is 1000x better than it ending up in a shelter. that being said, he's gonna be a tank, have fun OP raise him right and he'll be your best friend

So if he does everything right in raising/training it the dog is still fucked? Flawless logic right there

Miss the part where he's 19 and in college? He won't be able to. I've seen so many friends get dogs in their early 20's and the novelty is gone in a month and the reality of the responsibility and the inconvenience sets in and the dog's up for adoption by month 4. Obviously there's no guarantee, but I'm pretty sure he shares an apartment. Not exactly ideal, especially given he was already split on whether to take the dog or not.

Nope didn't miss that part, I was just pointing out that he said even if OP does everything right, the dog is still fucked. I know of 7 friends off the top of my head at college that have got a dog and properly cared for it, and they all still have them. As a matter of fact, I can't think of anyone I know that has got a dog in college and gave it away because it was too much. Although I know it does happen.

My point is that just because he is in college doesn't mean the dog is fucked. If the OP made a thread before contemplating whether or not to get it, he has probably put quite a bit of thought into the decision. As long as he knows he isn't going to be able to go get hammered every night, he will do just fine. Hell, I would give up partying in a heartbeat to be able to have a dog here at school.

Ok I'll clarify,

Hes not fucked for sure. Hes just probably fucked compared to if he would have been adopted by a 25 year old with a stable job. The other big problem is its a pit. I love pits, my pit-german shepard mix died this summer, and he was a great dog. But pits need extra attention, and you have to go the extra mile to ensure they don't become a nightmare dog, and as a full time college student, i seriously doubt OP will be able to give that extra attention pit pups need. There isn't a 100% chance this dog will grow up into a shitshow, its just a much much higher chance than if OP would have waited a bit. I know hes cute now and harmless, but OP this isnt about you. You really need to think if you can be a good caregiver to that dog almost constantly for the first 2 years of its life.
