Wondering who here likes to ride motorcycles. I just bought myself a Honda XR650l and haven't had this much fun since my first day on snow. Post in this thread as long as you don't ride a Harley (ha ha).

just passed my final stupid test this morning, thank god because my license expires tomorrow and i would've had to restart the whole process. dad's got an 03 klr650 that he hasn't used in forever so i've pretty much got free reign on it. can't wait to go on some adventures, thing is perfect for exploring.
once i'm out of school i want to get a drz400, i find the klr650 a little more street oriented than what i'd like.

Watch out eventually though because after buying my 650L i realized that I actually ended up riding it way more on the road than I anticipated. And riding a 650L on the open interstate (not many turns, high speeds) is definitely not the most pleasant of experiences. Its kind of like trying to ski big mountain on park skis haha. Maybe just keep the KLR around just for when (not if) you want to go on a longer highway tour.
I never got my license or registered my bikes. Ended up selling them both.
I'd like to get another eventually. I kind of live out of my car sometimes so it'd be tough to travel without stuff but it'd be fun to take a trip with just a bike and a tent. Maybe I'll move somewhere I can ride a dirtbike.
Or when kevtron wins the lotto he'll keep a bike for me to crash.

Had a cbr600 but sold it once I moved back to NY. Riding around here is pretty shitty.

Out on the olympic peninsula today. Got about 200 miles in total riding on 101 and on ferries

I got stoked on bikes 3 years ago and never looked back. Lots of trials and tribulations to get everything going but the learning process is cool to look back on. I always wanted a bike as a kid but my parents were not down at all. So when I finished college and got my first real full-time gig it seemed like the right time to pursue it. Pick up this GS650GL and have modded out a few bits on it. Here's a current photo.
My 81' Suzuki GS650GL
I look forward to going out on it like I do when I go out skiing. And it's great since it has so many applications for transportation. I'd say I use it about 3 to 5 days of the week for commuting to work/skatepark/friends houses. And normally its about 5 to 10 buck's every 2 weeks to fill up. One of the best parts is my friends are all getting into it more so its great to have a crew mentality and like minded people to go out with or just tool around in a garage with. Same type of camaraderie as skiing.
Recently A buddy of mine who I have been riding with a few times now came to visit and do a 200 mile tour around Northern Utah with a night of camping in between. Needless to say it was hard to wipe the smiles off our faces during the whole trip. Here's a few snaps from the ride.

I would totally recommend picking up a bike to anyone interested. Just be smart and be safe. Stoked to see this thread on here.

I ride a Ninja 500 but am looking to upgrade to either a SV650 or CBR 600 F4i or something similar. I ride 50 miles a day in Seattle traffic and though I'll admit it's stupidly dangerous what with idiot drivers and traffic, the joy and relaxation I get from riding is just too much of a deal to pass up. Plus hov lanes is nice. Maybe I'm not hardcore enough but I only ride in the dry since it's not that worth it to get soaked going to work.

Keep meaning to get my motorcycle licence but every time I do that I'm reminded of how ridiculous insurance rates are and just can't justify spending $2000 a year just in insurance on a vehicle I can only use half the year. Once I'm over 25 and the rates drop I'll probably go for it though.

I'll be changing out sprockets soon on mine (thinking -1/+1) since it's so sluggish in low first. I think stock is what, 16/45. My old R6S was way better for low end acceleration, and is 16/48. R6s didn't really seem any slower up the RPM range either. First day I bought it I hit 135 merging onto the freeway
want a CBR1000RR soon, or a GSXR750

2007 gsx-r 600. Factory suzuki team tuned the suspension for my weight/riding style and I removed the backpressure valve for more jam. Any of the other sport bike guys (or girls) into getting their knee down? Buy and good set of race leathers and drag that knee. It'll change you.
